  2. The price of the renewal would be the current price of the product in question. In Europe, at the time of writing, for the different paid desktop versions of CCleaner currently available this is: €29.95 for CCleaner Professional for Windows (1 PC) €29.95 for CCleaner Professional for Mac (1 Mac) €44.95 for CCleaner Professional Plus - includes Recuva and Speccy (up to 3 PCs) €69.95 for CCleaner Premium Bundle - also includes Kamo and Premium Tech Support (up to 5 PCs) Cleverbridge will send you an email prior to your billing date specifying the amount of the upcoming bill. However at various points prior to this billing date, you will receive renewal reminders from CCleaner which may include any "members only" discounts currently going to extend and/or upgrade your licence earlier - although these tend to be more geared towards savings on CCleaner Professional Plus and CCleaner Premium.
  3. @bgavin Having the Portable edition write preferences to the registry seems like a recipe for unintended consequences. Have you got Options > Advanced Save all settings to INI file checked? And, if so, what are the update settings in your CCleaner.ini? eg: UpdateBackground=1 UpdateCheck=1
  4. The topic of "CCleaner causing problems with Steam" used to pop up every now and then. It has always struck me as odd, given the number of gamers on the CCleaner staff who have never had such an issue. Nevertheless, whenever it comes up, we get a few folks from the office who selflessly volunteer to put in some overtime (or, as I suspect, use it as an excuse to have a gaming marathon) and fail to reproduce the issue. Just this evening, had one of the management team playing CS:GO before and after running CCleaner 6 to do multiple cleans and registry cleans including winapp2.ini with everything checked - with no issues. Given the large overlap between gamers and CCleaner users, I would expect reports of issues to be a bit more widespread. I suspect that either the issue was either entirely at the Steam end and that they silently fixed a false positive at some point, or (from the use of those particular BCDedit commands fixing the problem) it actually has/had something to do with unsigned/custom drivers - as apparently it is a general feature of anti-cheat engines that they don't like driver signing turned off. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced such an issue recently, or @qeamer if you aren't using any custom/unsigned drivers, care to give CCleaner another crack now and let us know how it goes?
  5. @qeamer: Thanks for the details. That certainly helps. At a glance though, nothing in the BCDedit options you ran seem to relate to files that would have been affected by temp file cleaning or cookie cleaning - but may well adjust registry settings. When you mention that you had issues after cleaning, was that after running the "Clean" function itself? Or after doing a Registry Clean?
  6. @LaavaiCC: Certainly loading from here: ... and I note that you managed to get to community.ccleaner.com if not www.ccleaner.com. Are you still having issues reaching www.ccleaner.com? If so: Do you have any VPN software running, or might you have made edits to your hosts file to block certain domains? www.ccleaner.com is served up via Akamai. Are there any other Akamai websites that you are unable to visit? eg: www.ikea.com, www.airbnb.com, www.bestbuy.com, etc Some malicious modifications by malware will block access to security websites - and sometimes CCleaner gets classified in the security/remediation category. Are there any other security websites that you are unable to visit? www.avast.com, www.avg.com www.trendmicro.com, www.mcafee.com, etc?
  7. Hi @Jae3804 thanks for the suggestion. The functional themes of CCleaner itself have always been of performance and privacy, and everything that we add to CCleaner have been around those themes - predominantly around performance. Where needs for new functions have strayed a bit outside of those areas we have spun them out into separate Piriform products - such as CCleaner Browser for ad-blocking and browser fingerprint obfuscation, and Kamo for more robust anti-fingerprinting and VPN-style IP address hiding. Some form of backup would fall into the theme of our Recuva file recovery software - as a preventative measure to stop users needing to resort to file recovery in the first place for critical files. We've been looking at a few possible options for this as part of our planning for Recuva 2.0, although from discussions with the Recuva user base we are likely to prioritise improvements to how Recuva restores corrupted partially overwritten files over backup features. So to summarise: yes the product team in Piriform has considered a backup function, we will probably do something with it at some point, but not part of CCleaner itself, and not in 2022.
  8. As per the above, the fix was in a few days ago, but if it hasn't reverted for you yet automatically, please try the following to give it a nudge: Click on the 3-dot menu burger on the top right corner of the browser and select “Extensions” (or just go directly to secure://extensions/) Enable “Developer mode” with the toggle in the top right corner of the window ... and then click the "Update" button
  9. Aside from the ongoing expansion of app cleaning rules, the additions to the free version over the past couple of years such additional language support, improved accessibility, and the options for simplified one-click cleaning, automatic updates (formerly a paid-only feature), and silencing the update offers and upsell messages were all added due to popular demand from our free user base. Given the large number of features already given away for free, and our commitment to keeping them that way, Piriform's paying customers for CCleaner Professional quite reasonably expect us to deliver more added value for their money - so we asked them what they wanted and we gave it to them. Some of the requests (blocking new forms of online tracking, IP address hiding via VPN, website ad blocking, etc) didn't fit in well to CCleaner itself, and so have been spun out into separate products. CCleaner has an active user base larger than the population of most countries, and everyone has different needs. As a multi-function toolbox, we don't expect every user to regularly use every feature of CCleaner. But they are there for those who need them. As per the above, I would note that Avast does not set Piriform's product roadmap - Piriform's customers do. Perhaps not always as quickly as everyone would like, admittedly, but that is nevertheless where our direction comes from. And certainly not from someone arbitrarily deciding to build things for their own amusement. Automatic updates can be switched off via the Options > Updates menu. Smart Cleaning can be switched off (or have its level of activity configured) via Options > Smart Cleaning. Other features such as Driver Updater, Duplicate Finder, Drive Wiper, Performance Optimizer, etc aren't ever "on" per se - they are just menu options that you can use or not use as you see fit.
  10. I believe that there have been previous attempts to advise Steam, etc that clearing space on one's Hard Drive to install games is not the same as cheating, but will little joy. @qeamer: BCDEdit for modifying boot configuration data? What entries were you changing to solve the problem?
  11. @KateShortForBob, @Reboots DaMachina, @j2images, @PROVERITAS, @skonik : The issue was a misconfiguration of an update intended to facilitate use for DashLane users that went too broadly, and then had to be unpicked to make sure that when reverting, actual DashLane users weren't adversely impacted. I checked this morning and it looks like a fix is in. I am seeing my LastPass back and DashLane back off. Can you confirm that you are seeing the same thing?
  12. Unlike medicine, accounting, engineering, etc the IT industry is a bit peculiar in that with the absence of universally recognised accreditation, pretty much anyone can call themselves an "IT expert" if they can bluff that they know more than the person they are talking to. Given the near-ubiquity of CCleaner all over the world, I would wonder at the technical credentials of someone who didn't know what CCleaner actually is.
  13. There is nothing inherently wrong with using multi-pass deletion to "shred" deleted files. Just as there is nothing wrong with buying a paper shredder from your local office supplies store. Sounds like the common conflation of privacy, security and secrecy. Old medical records are no-one else's business - I may wish to shred them to keep that information private. Old income tax filings contain information that could be used to identity-theft me - I may wish to shred them to keep that information secure. While it is also possible that I am shredding the plans to a bank vault from a heist I am planning (something I would like to keep secret), under most circumstances that is unlikely to be someone's first assumption. This is why our windows have curtains, we close the door when we go to the loo, and many regions have a right to privacy enshrined in their laws. Even if we have nothing to hide, we all inherently dislike any form of snooping.
  14. Errrr no. Piriform's primary source of income is from selling licences to our products to our own customers. And since 2011 we have also had a sideline in making offers for other products to free users when they install or update CCleaner to help offset the cost of providing millions of free downloads every day, but no user information is shared with any third parties. Indeed, Piriform collects no personal information on our free users, and only holds the minimum information on our paying customers necessary to manage their subscription entitlements. Piriform has never sold information to anyone. A list of email addresses of CCleaner customers would only be of value to competitors and, aside from the legalities of the matter, it would be rather foolish for us to help them in this fashion. For more information, see https://www.ccleaner.com/about/data-factsheet Kamo protects your privacy online by masking your browser fingerprint (which is what is being increasingly used these days instead of cookies) and with VPN technology to hide your IP address. If you are concerned that you are receiving a high volume of spam, you might want to check out https://haveibeenpwned.com/ When I checked the email address that you used to register your account here, I saw that it had been reported in 4 major data breaches - so it is quite possible that spammers may have picked up your email address from one of these. Are you still using an old version of Kamo? Or have you updated to the latest version, Kamo 4.0? When you say "slowed your computer speed" are you referring to your internet connection when running Private Connection? (As yes, connecting through a VPN will generally reduce your internet speed to some degree and should only be used when you are browsing sites where you wish to remain hidden and it not suitable for use while streaming videos, etc). And have you contacted customer support for them to help you diagnose your issue?
  15. Recuva for Windows can help with Android file deletion - but only under the rather specific scenario of the deleted files on the phone having been on a memory card which can be removed and accessed on your PC via a card reader.
  16. Portable versions are built out separately to the main releases and may be released some time later, or may skip versions where new functionality needs time to be adapted to the portable configuration. As per the notes above, there will not be a portable version of CCleaner 6.0 this month, but it is likely to resume either with the upcoming CCleaner 6.01 or 6.02.
  17. So I tried putting Microsoft 365 to sleep and waking it up again without issue. But quite possible that if you have multiple "put apps to sleep" utilities on your computer that one will claim "ownership" of the sleeping state and insist that only it is the one that can wake the app up again. The dev team are already looking at this one to find a graceful way of handling such situations. What is currently showing under your "sleeping programs" list?
  18. @SelflessWon: Thanks for this - this sort of detail is extremely valuable. The CCleaner\Data\BackupStorage folder stores the backups of old drivers that you have updated to enable rollback, eg: 1GB for 3 files seems rather high - which all other factors aside might point to something afoot with the driver files provided by NVIDIA. No, I just checked and NVIDIA's distributables really are that big! When CCleaner loads, it needs to know the most recent state of what has been updated/still needs to be updated/is still pending a reboot/etc, but shouldn't need to actually load up the files in that directory unless you're actually doing a rollback - in theory. My CCleaner is cheerfully starting up in just a couple of seconds on a heavily loaded system, but then again I don't have mammoth NVIDIA backups in my directory. This seems like a promising lead and the Dev/QA team will be taking a look at replicating the scenario you describe. In the meantime, can I ask if you recall the size of your CCleaner\Data\DUstate.dat file at the time? Should have been < 1Mb?
  19. Actually the 2016 version is the one with the Chrome and toolbar offers in there. Those were removed in the 2020 release. Recuva itself has grown a couple of MB since 2019, But most of the extra size of the installer are the libraries for the installer itself. As you would have noticed from the version numbers being the same, there is no problem with continuing to use your older version of Recuva 1.53 - provided that Windows Defender doesn't object to it - and you keep an eye out for that old retired Chrome offer when installing it on any new computers. Aside from removing the offers in the installer, the newer version adds a privacy option and compatibility with an upcoming licensing change (for customers who have Recuva Professional as part of the CCleaner Professional Plus bundle). If none of those sound particularly exciting or relevant to you, then you are probably fine to wait until Recuva 1.54.
  20. I just tried this myself with a stopwatch and on a Windows 10 system under a reasonably heavy load with 100+ other Windows open (consuming ~30% CPU and 80% memory) CCleaner 6.0 takes 2-3 seconds to load for me if Smart Cleaning is enabled (so it was already running in the background) and 3-5 seconds if running it from scratch. So if it is taking 60 seconds or more to load that would seem to suggest that there is something else going on with your computer that you might want to look into. Providing support with log files, etc will help them to see if there is anything specifically on your computer that may be interfering with CCleaner, but also check Task Manager - if you CPU and memory usage are running excessively high then that could be slowing down the loading of any application (and CCleaner's Performance Optimizer might help identify potential hotspots there)
  21. Which version of CCleaner are you using? If still CCleaner 5.92, does the problem resolve itself after the automatic update to CCleaner 6.0? If it is still slow loading after updating to CCleaner 6.0, can you describe which version of Windows you are using, any AV, firewalls or VPNs active, etc?
  22. We've been adding some new languages to the website recently, which looks like it may have broken some content that is not yet localised. I have raised this with the web devs for remedy. One work-around is to go to the ccleaner homepage and set your language as English, Or you can get your downloads from the main download centre here: https://www.ccleaner.com/it-it/download
  23. We are seeing that some users are having issues with the automatic updates not being delivered as requested. The developers have built in work-arounds for a number of these cases, but in some situations the problems persist. We're keen to get details of the system configurations of users who continue to be impacted (Windows version, Windows security settings, debug logfiles, AV/firewall in use, etc) so that we can develop some fixes. Any assistance that you can provide in this regard would be most helpful.
