    Breach Guard

here is the webpage for "breachguard," if you are interested in purchasing a license for it: https://www.avast.com/en-us/breachguard#pc
  2. i agree with andavari that, with a SSD, you don't need to use "wipe free space." i also agree with andavari that you should use a tool from the manufacturer to erase data on a harddrive/SSD, if that is what you want to do. personally, i always wipe a hardrive/SSD before doing a "clean" install of windows. (with a SSD, that happens instantly) i don't use "wipe free space." i believe that there is too much of a risk of something going wrong, if you do that.
  3. to find the most up-to-date driver for your intel network adapter, do a google-search for "intel network adapter I217-V": https://www.google.com/search?q=intel+network+adapter+I217-V which leads to: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/70831/intel-ethernet-connection-i217v/downloads.html
  4. go to ccleaner's "options" and, in "privacy," adjust the settings there. you might still see an occasional offer from ccleaner but it won't be as frequent.
  5. i always have the taskbar set to use small buttions so i only see the time, there. not the date. i check the date by clicking on the time, there, which opens a window, showing the date.
  6. try going to "tools" and run the software-updater from there and see if that fixes the health check problem.
  7. in the past, sometimes i would hear people tell others not to use ccleaner for cleaning firefox but it has never been a problem for me. just make sure to untick the option for removing "site preferences." running ccleaner 6.22 did not remove my brower-extensions of any of the settings that i had for them. i don't think that there is any cleaning of browser-extensions. i also rolled back to ccleaner 6.21.
  8. try going to ccleaner's "tools" and run the software-updater from there. some people have said that doing that fixes the problem with "health check" where it won't download software-updates.
  9. yes. ccleaner 6.22 is just erroneously listing some browser-extensions as being cookies. it is a bug in ccleaner 6.22.
  10. in ccleaner's "options"/"cookies," i am seeing what is shown in the picture. i wasn't seeing that, before installing ccleaner 6.22. i am not seeing any "extensions" added to either firefox or the MS edge browser, on my computer. i am assuming that they are hidden.
  11. at first i was thinking that ccleaner wouldn't install anything norton but then i remembered that ccleaner (avast) was bought by the same company that owns norton. the "performance optimizer" is suppose to shut down processes that run in the background, that are not needed, but now, with performance optimizer's running in the background, the only process that is not needed, and needs to be shut down, is the performance optimizer itself.
  12. ccleaner typically removes cookies but you can set it to save the cookies that you want to save. browsers also can be set to remove cookies and to save the cookies that you want to save. also, these days, browsers have "tracking protection" that blocks cookies. not all cookies, but some cookies. google is working on ending the use of all cookies but we will have to see how that works out. cookies are no big thing. as i said, you can use settings to save the cookies that you want to be saved but, if they get deleted, they are easily replaced.
  13. if you are using the avira antivirus program, that could be the source of your problems. see this post: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/66551-after-ccleaner-the-file-is-corrupted-or-illegible/?do=findComment&comment=347121
  14. if you are using windows 10, go to settings/personalization/background, and set the background to whatever you like.
  15. chrisR64, i've heard that disabling windows' "fast startup" allows edge to close. everyone says to disable fast startup in the power settings but i disable it in my BIOS settings.
