I downloaded the newly updated version, Opera 15, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried it and what the reactions to it are. It is a bit different, but now that I have played around with it for awhile, I am really getting to like it. Papajoe

I have been using Chrome as my main browser since it was first introduced. It's fast and works for all my needs. However, I use Opera as a secondary browser.

I notice in another thread that a new, updated version of Spyware Blaster has been released. I have been using MS Security Essentials for some time now, and it seems to be doing the job for me. However, I was wondering if people considered Spyware Blaster to be better. I would be interested in reading comments anyone has and finding out if I should switch. Thank you.

I agree with Tom AZ. I have also been using it for some time now with no problems at all. It updates itself, and so far there have been no conflicts with my other AV programs.

I gave up on FF 3.05, and I have been using Chrome for the last month or so. I find that it is much faster than FF. However, it doesn't have any of the add ons that FF has. I recently read someplace, maybe Lifehacker, that addons are coming to Chrome later this spring. I have also used Opera, and I find it to be faster than FF as well. I would suggest that you try Chrome and Opera and see what you think. Opera has a big learning curve, but may be worth the effort. Good luck.

I was really happy with FF2, but then I updated to FF3.05 and found it to be terribly slow. Now I mainly use Chrome. It is much faster and for my computing needs, it is okay. However, I am playing around with Opera and trying to learn more about it. I think that it is a shame that Mozilla has destroyed the latest version of FF, but maybe sometime in the future they will correct it. I really love some of those add ons.

Yes, I had downloaded a new version of CCleaner, but still no change. But as they say, if you can't lick em, join em. After spending a lot of time yesterday and this morning searching through files, I thought that I would download FF2 again. remove all of the cookies and see what happened. After doing that, CCleaner is now working normally. Here, for whatever it is worth, is a copy of the CCleaner error report that popped up a couple of times. I have done some further searching, and I found a couple of FF files in the Document files and deleted them. By doing a MS Search, I have found a file in C:|Windows|Microsoft.net|v2.050727|Config|Browsers I haven't screwed up the courage yet to remove it from the PC. However, after opening up CCleaner, I clicked Applications and in that file was a list of programs on my PC. One of these was Firefox/Mozilla. One of the checked items under that heading was cookies. I removed the check mark beside cookies, and the program scanned the pc as it normally does. Could it be that CCleaner was looking for FF/Mozilla cookies that no longer existed? I guess we may never know. However, when I click Tools>Cookies, the pc scans on without stop, so I suppose that something may still be wrong. In any event, the pc is now working faster than before, CCleaner is working normally, and apart from the slower start up, things are now much better. Thanks for your help.

I have been having a problem lately with my pc. It takes a long time to start up and to open new programs. I use Nod32 and Superantispyware, and I also scan with other good spyware programs. So I am relatively certain that it is not infected. I should also mention that I have Windows XP Home and at the present time I am IE. I used to run FF2, but it started giving me troubles, so I uninstalled it. The problem that I am having with CCleaner is that when I open the program and click "Run Cleaner", the comment "FirefoxMozilla Cookies" appears in the window. The program then continues scanning and scanning non-stop. End Task does not stop CCleaner from running, and I have to do a restart. Any ideas on what may be causing this problem? Could there be a problem with cookies lodged someplace in the registry. I have searched the program files, but couldn't find FF or Mozilla anything on the pc. Thanks.

I am a political news junkie, and I read a lot of on-line newspapers, magazines and political blogs. Over the last couple of months, I have been picking up about 50-60 tracking cookies each day. I have Windows Home, and I run Nod 32, Spybot and I scan frequently with SuperAntispyware, Adaware 2008 and Malawarebytes? Antispyware. I use FF2. I have set the cookie control in tools>options>privacy, and I have tried the FF add on Cookie Culler. But it didn?t seem to prevent all of the cookies that I am getting. Yesterday I purchased Webroot Spy Sweeper and installed it on my pc. A mistake! It slowed my pc to a crawl, and after I uninstalled it, the pc was back working properly again. I was really disappointed with Spy Sweeper, because I have used this program in the past and it worked fine at that time. So now I have pitched it. I understand that most tracking cookies are not harmful, but I don?t like having them on the pc. Does anyone know of some way (or some spy program) that I can use to prevent these cookies from getting on my pc, or will I just have to live with it and scan frequently? Thanks.

I just downloaded FF 3.0.2 and it isn't any faster than the previous version. Although FF is the one I like best, probably because of all of the available toys, I have been using Chrome the most lately. Although it doesn't have any of the add-ons, it is much, much faster than FF.

I switched to FF2 a short time ago and really loved it. All of the addons are just great. Yesterday, I updated to FF3 and have had nothing but trouble with it. I have never seen a browser that was as S-L-O-O-O-O-W as this. It is worse than going back to dial up. So now I am back to IE7, and that's the end of my FF experience, I am sad to say.

I have downloaded Faststone, and it looks very good. However, I like the Irfanview feature that permits you to type text on top of the photo. I looked at some old family photos recently and no one could figure out who some of the relatives in the photos were. You can avoid that by typing names and dates on top of the photos. So Irfanview is useful for that purpose. I don't believe that Faststone has that feature? So far I have been using is Picassa2. I like the ease of basic image adjustments, sending e-mails or uploading to a web album. So it works great for me, so far. My Question: As I am new to digital photography, I am curious as to what features Faststone has that attracts users to choose it over these other programs. As I get further into digital photography I'll probably want more features, so I would like to start off with the most useful program. Thank you

I guess it all depends on your needs. I have tried it, and I think that it is a very good calendar program. However, Rainlendar suits my needs better. If you haven't seen it, you can take a look at it here: http://www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php Rainlendar sits on your desk top and provides an area for Events and To Do's, and a number of other features. There is a free version of this program that you can download. There is also a "Pro" version that costs around $20, I think. Rainlendar is a neat little calendar program, but as I said above, it all depends on your calendar needs. papajoe

TomAZ, I was hoping that someone would provide a better solution, but the only way that I know of to do this is to scan the slides. I have a few thousand slides and plan to purchase scanner for this purpose when I get the time. You will notice that some of the scanners on the market have an area on the inside of the cover for slides. I hope someone has a better idea.
