  1. Opera 15

I downloaded the newly updated version, Opera 15, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried it and what the reactions to it are. It is a bit different, but now that I have played around with it for awhile, I am really getting to like it. Papajoe
  2. Looking for a free ware radio program

Thank you very much. I'll give them a try.
  3. Hi. I wonder if anyone could recommend a good free ware radio program that I could download. Thanks.
  4. What browser do you use?

I have been using Chrome as my main browser since it was first introduced. It's fast and works for all my needs. However, I use Opera as a secondary browser.
  5. MS Security Essentials vs Spyware Blaster

Thanks Fluffy. I installed Spyware Blaster this morning, and everything is working just fine. I appreciate all of the helpful comments.
  6. MS Security Essentials vs Spyware Blaster

Thank you very much for the information. As suggested, I will read the FAQs and download SB. I really appreciate your advice.
  7. I notice in another thread that a new, updated version of Spyware Blaster has been released. I have been using MS Security Essentials for some time now, and it seems to be doing the job for me. However, I was wondering if people considered Spyware Blaster to be better. I would be interested in reading comments anyone has and finding out if I should switch. Thank you.
  8. The Buzz

Thanks, Hazelnut. This was a great post, and I thank you for bringing it to our attention. I love Gmail and Google products, but this is a disgrace. I have turned it off and edited my profile. It really makes me wonder what scary ideas Google has for the future.
  9. best imaging software

I like Picasa3 as it handles all of my needs. http://picasa.google.com/
  10. OpenOffice3 + Windows Vista

If you are thinking about Open Office, then I agree that it is probably best to start out with the portable version. However, if he just wants a word processor, here are comments on Jarte, a free MS compatible processor that I think is really great. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/wo...replacement.htm
  11. Google Operating System

The following is from the NY Times news alert that was e-mailed to me this morning. Google Plans to Introduce a PC Operating System In a direct challenge to Microsoft, Google is expected to announce on Wednesday that it is developing an operating system for a personal computer based on its Chrome browser, according to two people briefed on Google's plans. The move would sharpen the already intense competition between Google and Microsoft, whose Windows operating system controls the basic functions of the vast majority of personal computers
  12. ThreatFire

I agree with Tom AZ. I have also been using it for some time now with no problems at all. It updates itself, and so far there have been no conflicts with my other AV programs.
  13. Firefox 3.05 high on resorces

I gave up on FF 3.05, and I have been using Chrome for the last month or so. I find that it is much faster than FF. However, it doesn't have any of the add ons that FF has. I recently read someplace, maybe Lifehacker, that addons are coming to Chrome later this spring. I have also used Opera, and I find it to be faster than FF as well. I would suggest that you try Chrome and Opera and see what you think. Opera has a big learning curve, but may be worth the effort. Good luck.
  14. Firefox 3.05 high on resorces

I was really happy with FF2, but then I updated to FF3.05 and found it to be terribly slow. Now I mainly use Chrome. It is much faster and for my computing needs, it is okay. However, I am playing around with Opera and trying to learn more about it. I think that it is a shame that Mozilla has destroyed the latest version of FF, but maybe sometime in the future they will correct it. I really love some of those add ons.
  15. CCleaner won't stop running

Yes, I had downloaded a new version of CCleaner, but still no change. But as they say, if you can't lick em, join em. After spending a lot of time yesterday and this morning searching through files, I thought that I would download FF2 again. remove all of the cookies and see what happened. After doing that, CCleaner is now working normally. Here, for whatever it is worth, is a copy of the CCleaner error report that popped up a couple of times. Cookies AtlThrow: hr = 0x8007000e CCleaner v2.13.720 MS Windows XP SP3 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.70GHz 767MB RAM S3 Graphics Inc. Savage4 I have been using this program for a few years now, and I suppose like many users, I simply used "Run Cleaner" and "Registry Cleaner" without giving any thought at all to the rest of the options provided by this program. However, these problems and a recent Lifehacker article (Remove Startup Items ..., by Gina Trapani) made me take a whole new look at this program and all of the features it offers. It is a great program. When I get time in the next couple of days, I am going to download a copy of the instructions and take a much closer look at it. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to help me with this problem, DennisD. I think that you were right when you said that a Mozilla Cookie was lurking in there someplace. Thanks Joe
