Dear Nukecad, After deleting quite a number of .jpg files I seem to have a working Ccleaner again. Thanks a lot for your memory hints! I do not have the guts to recreate the items of the registry since my backup file was from Oct 05, 2019. And the CC seems to work quite fine. So should I or shouldn't I restore the backup file? Thank you for your kind support!! /Greta

Thank you. I remember running registry checks in CCleaner and there seemed to be something wrong afterwards - however I did not find out how to recreate the register with my backup. I will go through your steps and return later!

I have a problem. When I launch CCleaner.exe I get an error message: "The instruction at 0x7714b746 referred to the memory at 0xffffffff. Impossible to carry out a memory measure. The following error was returned: The memory could not be read. Press enter if you want to end the program." Anyone - please?

I have now a new problem. When I launch CCleaner.exe I get an error message: "The instruction at 0x7714b746 referred to the memory at 0xffffffff. Impossible to carry out a memory measure. The following error was returned: The memory could not be read. Press enter if you want to end the program." Could you or anyone else help me?

Indeed. Thanks again!

It now looks as if it is working. I also upgraded the free CCleaner. Thank you for your help. Hope to get more help if I get future problems!

Thanks a lot, nukecad! I succeeded to run the Ccleaner scans (I did avoid the Registry Cleaner, however). But afterwards I had the same problem, having problems to launch the program! Do you have any ideas?

Anyone who could help? CCleaner seems not to work at all since Oct 03 as it cannot be started. Is there any way to make my changes "undone"? /Greta

Today I downloaded v5.62.7538 (03 Oct 2019) of CCleaner. I ran a few tests (with default settings). When finished I found a dialogue box with an error message. I couldn't recall this message but afterwards I found the wellknown "cleaner.exe has stopped working". I then tried to restore the back-up file created before I ran the registry check. Error message: C:\Users\Greta\Desktop\cc_20191006_124405.reg cannot be imported. An error occurred while trying to get in touch with the registry. Anyone who could advise on what to do? /Greta

Thanks a lot, MTA!

Well now it works! I downloaded the portable version, then made a folder in my Documents folder called PortableApps, then copied the ccleaner64.exe file into that folder and made a shortcut from the desktop to that file. Just like MTA suggested. Thank you MTA and all others involved for the lucky outcome of this issue! Only question now: What would be the best version for continual future use and how do I update it the best way?
-
MTA: I eventually chose the Portable build (Slim build wasn't there). I got a zipfile (in the temp folder) containing lang (folder), ccleaner.exe, ccleaner64.exe, License.txt and portable.dat. What are the instructions for installing?

When using CC I often get notices about new versions. The trouble is I cannot find any links on the page referred to. What should I do? The link: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/update?a=0&v=5.30.6065&l=1033&o=6.1W6&t=4&au=1

MTA, OK! I will return after having done that. Hazelnut: I am using MSE, MBAM Premium and Super AntiSpyware Free. Task mgr: Ccleaner doesn't show under headline Programs. But for a moment it was found under "Processes". I had managed to start CCleaner - it showed Ccleaner64.exe as running - then the cleaner shut down and the filename disappeared. I will start with MTAs suggestion and then return to you.
