  1. Thanks to Mr mta for his reply: But, I'm still puzzled by what Speccy web page says: "You can view the resulting XML file in any XML viewer, as well as Internet Explorer." But try as I might, no success with Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome and Fire Fox. So I Googled, for .XML Viewer, and found a free trial downloaded and so named Altova MissionKit Enterprise Edition! ************************** HERE IS WHAT I FOUND OUT: One of the several ~packages" in that install, seems to be the one called Spy XML. (See C&P info below.) Spy XML Editor, does what Altova claims: It did in fact open and display a Spcccy.sml SaveAs. Using Altova's Spy XML. the only display choice, that works, is the GRID tab at screen bottom: But It takes qite a bit of clicking on the Triangle Down Arrows at Upper Left of various Boxes, but the effort sucessively expand the lines, to is pretty much the same information, as that of what Specccy Shows, for whats in my computer. ******* However the Spy XML Display, is vastely harder to scroll around in (Than Speccy Display), because the Speccy information is HUGE, and the Spy XML Display box is way too small. This box is at max expansion on my lap top, is only ~6 inch high by 8 inch wide, and really needs to be ~5 times that big, for adequately showingSpeccy.XML Information. I am using the Free Verdion of Spy XML, and of course, the full $ Pay Version, may be less limited. *********** What is shown by my efforts above, is that a Speccy.XML saved file CAN be read by humans, IF a satisfactory XML Viewer / Editor is used. Still, I'm quite surprised that a standard web browser, can not do this, which is what I originally wanted and assumed. But, this does NOT answer the question, as to why Speccy Developers, would offer the SaveAs.XML, when it is so hard to find a Viewer / Editor for Viewing this .XML saved file. PERHPS: 1) The SaveAs.XML is practically identical to that of the SaveAs SnapShot, and thus easy for the Developers to do. AND 2) This Speccy SaveAs.xmL, is intended for persons (Speccy Developers Themselves?), who happen to have an appropriate .XML Viewer / Editor, BOTTOM LINES: This shows that WITH an appropriate viewer .XML can be displayed for humans to read. AND peerhaps Speccy Developers are in fact using, an .XML Editor, in the first place, to create their Speccy Code for their very nice APP!! Henry Gurr ***** Info About XMLSpy XML Editor What makes XMLSpy the industry's best selling XML editor? 2. My thanks to mta. Basically I agree with what mta says: In looking around, it seems that.XML for some reason (not apparent OR discernable to me), is not meant to be read by humans, just Site-Crawlers like Google. This is said by various sites (including Wikipedia) that XML is for reporting “A Site Map”. Here is an example => “[You must] Include a XSLT stylesheet: Normally an XML sitemap just looks like a XML document, which is hard to read by humans. The plugin comes with a special stylesheet, which makes it more readable. Just keep the "use default" option checked to use it, or enter the full URL to your own stylesheet if you want to use another one.” http://www.arnebrachhold.de/projects/wordpress-plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-generator/help/ ************************************************************************************************************** AND thus a BIG puzzle why the Speccy SaveAs would even offer this option??? ***** I was looking for a way to SaveAS the Speccy Results (in human readable form), to a Memory Stick, for later viewing in case the Speccy Results were needed for trouble shooting that computer or parts ordering for it such as RAM. I conclude that to do that =>The Speccy SaveAs could most simply be Speccy SaveAs to text: Thus on any computer, all the normal Speccy information will be there, just harder to read, and way harder find your way around in it. NOW if the user wants more work, then the Speccy Results can be SaveAs to SnapShot, into a Memory Stick. Later when this Save is to be viewed, then the computer doing this, will need to have Speccy Installed. And then this Speccy can be asked to Load the Saved Snapshot. This will allow viewing with all the color and easy "click-around" to see what you want. Am I correct?
  3. Thanks for Hzelnut and Mta for your replies: To answer you above questions, In hopes you can reply with what to do: A) What do I expect the XML display to look like: I expect it to look pretty much what the Speccy APP itself shows: Like this below, except in color: ***************************************************************** Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Celeron @ 1.60GHz 59 °C Braswell 14nm Technology RAM 4.00GB DDR3 @ 1599MHz (11-11-11-28) Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. E402SA (SOCKET 0) 61 °C Graphics Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics (ASUStek Computer Inc) Storage 29GB Samsung BGND3R (SD) Optical Drives No optical disk drives detected Audio Realtek High Definition Audio ***************************************************** I have installed and used Speccy setpu130 in three computers with OS Windows 10 Home Edition Version 1607 Windows 10 Enterprise (No Version Given Windows XP C) All three of the above, when I tell Speccy to save XML, and then try to Use Browser of XML Editor to open the saved XML give essentially the same result. D) For example I just tried Notepad++ to open a saved Speccy XML, and get the below: ************************************ <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?> <speccydata version="1.30.730" formatversion="2.0" languageID="0" time="20170225T132536" localtime="20170225T082536-0500"> <mainsection title="Summary"> <section title="Operating System" id="1"> <entry title="Windows 10 Home 64-bit" value="" /> </section> <section title="CPU" id="2"> <entry title="Intel Celeron @ 1.60GHz" value="58 °C" /> <entry title="Braswell 14nm Technology" value="" /> </section> <section title="RAM" id="3"> <entry title="4.00GB DDR3 @ 1599MHz (11-11-11-28)" value="" /> ************* AND CONTINUES ON LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT 24 INCHES ****************
  4. Dear Speccy You web page says: "You can view the resulting XML file in any XML viewer, as well as Internet Explorer." BUT Neither MS Edge, OR Chrome OR MSoft XML Viewer, display my saved as XML All these viewers, just shows document tree text with code, with following note at top: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below." Please send email on what to do to *** email address removed by moderator to avoid spamming
