  1. That seems to be a conundrum, since it does not skip when Nancy nor I are logged on. As mentioned, it doesn't matter who is logged on. I've checked for both. Furthermore, CCleaner was installed when logged on to my account, not Nancy's. Task Scheduler was popped open when logged on to my account, not Nancy's. Nancy is not logged on currently. We are both admins. I have tried the settings to be for all three options available, Current User Only, All users, and Selected Users. Doesn't seem to make a hill of beans which one is selected. It's currently set to All Users, and that's the way it's been most of the time. I have made sure the settings for both Nancy and me are set exactly the same across the board, with the understanding being that the settings are indeed user specific, even when All users is selected. This is frustrating, because I have CCleaner installed on three machines (one is currently dead, having been killed by the Win10 Creator Update...grrrr). Only this one laptop has had issues with CCleaner. It's no different than the others except that it does have two accounts. I think it's obvious the problem is related to multiple accounts. What to check next?
  2. Attached screen shot as requested. There are two user accounts on this machine. After booting it doesn't matter which account is logged on to. First time logging in the UAC dialog will request permission, even if the other account has already clicked OK. Furthermore, the setting to skip UAC will sometimes uncheck itself, in one account or the other, or both. Is it usually checked to skip in both. Something outside normal user actions is corrupting the setting. I just checked now and it is indeed unchecked again. The setting is not sticking in either user account....yet, when it's checked the UAC dialog will still prompt for permission. There more than one issue going on. 1) asks for UAC permission when the setting is checked, and 2) setting gets unchecked at random times.
  3. Still an issue. I assume this is a bug CCleaner is OK with. Why not just remove the UAC option since it does work?
  4. This is NOT fixed, at all. After a reboot it's back for all users, all profiles, on the machine. The setting is checked "ignore" for all users. I've tried changing the settings to apply to All Users, and each user separately. Looks like WIn 10 Creator is still a problem.
  5. DANG IT DANG IT DANG IT False alarm, sort of. While the UAC prompt did not pop up when rebooted and logging into my account, it DID show up when logging onto my wife's account. We are both administrators, so that's not the issue. CCleaner is set for all users. Sorry.
  6. WOOHOO!!! CCleaner Pro v5.31.8105 (64-bit) does seem to have this issue fix. I got no UAC prompt after the reboot right now. Hope it doesn't come back (Unrelated note - My account settings had ALL the notification checks off - every one. No wonder I wasn't getting email notifications. Not sure how that happened, but I've reset them to my prefs, so I hope that issue is also fixed.)
  7. Sorry. Tried those. None made any difference. Why should these change how the Skip UAC works? I don't know either and I assume they shouldn't. After years of using CCleaner at the request of the the third-party AV support and with using Defender for a few months with no issues it does seem like these (manually created exceptions) should not in fact be necessary. A new version of CCleaner just came in now, and there was yet another Windows 10 Update late yesterday that forced a reboot. We are still at square one, pending one more reboot. I will post here if the latest CCleaner fixes the issue. We know the last Windows Update did not. Forgive my slow responses. Even though I'm following this thread I'm not getting any email notifications when anyone posts. (double checking my account now)
  8. Of course, none of the old ways to work around this issue work anymore. That's why I started a new topic. "As I stated in the sticky, my experience is that after creator update I had to change back from windows 7 task to windows 10" The task in mine is set to Windows 10 already, with no way to change it otherwise, thus this suggestion no longer works. "The solution I found then was to make the CC folder an exception in Windows Defender." Where and how is this done? Windows Defender is disabled on my machine because I am using a 3rd party virus checker. Windows Defender is more complicated since the Update and does indeed do other stuff, so being disabled (as in the past) isn't what it used to be. Regardless, this is a bug in CCleaner since the function/setting to get around UAC does not work.
  9. UAC Pops up the Allow Dialog ever since the Creator Update was pushed to the machine. Changing the CCleanerSkipUAC Task config to run as Win7 is no longer an available option, as that setting is grayed out and can't be changed anymore. (yes, Task Scheduler was run as an admin, and the account is an admin account) This is the pinned fix for this problem with Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. Furthermore, the suggestion to uninstall CCleaner, reboot, and reinstall, does not work around the situation either. (many other posts, and a former solution for my machine last year if I remember correctly) This seems to be a new case of an old issue rearing its head again, per windows update changes. (forgive starting a new topic...none of the old suggestions are valid anymore...at least for my machines) Windows 10 Home Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.332) CCleaner Pro v5.30.6065 (64-bit)
  10. For the record, uninstalling CCleaner Pro Version 530 rebooting, and reinstalling it, does NOT fix this issue on Win10 Creator....and at least some machines....like mine. Perhaps a new thread needs to be started since this one is old.
  11. Forgive bringing this thread back to life. This issue has reared its head again on one of my laptops again. (was a problem on one of the others a year or more ago, but I've forgotten what the fix was). Not having a clue what y'all mean, or what needs to be done about ARG(0), even though I do know what that is, what is the suggested fix for machines that were recently broke by the recent Creator Update? Every since that update came in the "Skip UAC" setting changes nothing. This machine has two users and both get the "allow" prompt with each login after a reboot. Install is set for All Users, and Skip Account Control is checked. I have reset the settings to the default in both accounts. Is the only real fix to uninstall and reinstall?
  12. Got my main laptop back yesterday. CCleaner is working fine on it. V5.20.5668 currently installed. (suspect it will be updated soon) We'll see if there are any regressions post update. Followup on my wife's laptop: It's not hit the situation where it 'cleans' continually since I set both user accounts to have matching ccleaner settings. (may not be the real reason of course) The original issue of this post seems fixed or worked around for a week now...since using matching settings and changing them to be for "All users". One new clue/issue has become apparent -- If all browser instances from all users are not closed then CCleaner will not clean at all for any users. So, if my wife has logged on and left her browser up, then I switch users to my account I will never see CCleaner work. The workaround is to switch back to her account, close any instances of browsers open or log her off, then switch back to my account and close any browsers still open. CCleaner will kick in and do what it should. While this may seem logical since CCleaner is indeed working ok, it was unexpected since I can't (and shouldn't) log onto her account to close her browsers (nor she mine). It's possible that other users that are having issues with ccleaner not seeing to work could be setting up similar scenarios on their machines. Of course I can't see if this scenario is inhibiting any background tasks, but with notifications/prompts turned on for some it does seem they are not working unless just one of us is actually logged on. The only way to know this is a fact is of I know there should be a prompt and there wasn't (like cleaning when losing the browsers) In hindsight this may very well be related to the setting ccleaner to be "all users" - one of the changes made that may have worked around the 'runs forever' issue.
  13. Yes, I have the pro version. Have I tried turning off monitoring? No. I have no clue if it was happening with the previous version. This is my wife's machine. Silent update is enabled, so I don't know when updates are taking place. All II know is it was happening on this machine when I borrowed it when the other laptop was sent back to HP for repairs. I will be able to compare versions on the other laptop when it comes back as CCleaner has always worked well on that machine. Seems the update that others have said is causing problems came out after that laptop was gone. I did notice that it was working as expected earlier yesterday when logged into my wife's account, but not when logged into mine. So, two accounts on the same machine are not working the same. The CCleaner settings for each user account were NOT set to the same. One user account setting said "All users" while the the other said "Current user only" I changed all settings to be the same - "All users" with everything as defaults, except turned on cleaning when exiting the browser WITH notification so there would be something to tell me it was working. Rebooted Even though "Skip User Account Control warning" was/is enable it still pops the security dialog after a reboot, every time. As is typical for these things...HA! ... It is no longer spinning/working. It doesn't seem to be working at all. The process is using 0% CPU and only 6 Megs of memory. Opening and closing the browsers no longer instigates cleaning. This is frustrating to debug since it seems to be either working all the time or not working at all. I'm trying to be vigilant and aware of what I'm doing, what the settings are, when it gets stuck working/spinning. So far nothing is obvious. I strongly suspect CCleaner was confused with the multiple users, at least a little, but what I changed to make to go from working to not working is unknown. As a last comment, it seems to work fine sometimes after a reboot and when logged into just one account. Trouble may be instigated when switching users, being logged in with both users (or not logged out as the case may be).
