  1. A select all (or similar) option has always been avoided in CCleaner's Duplicate Finder, it can be very easy with such an option to delete files that you didn't mean to. Other duplicate finders do give automatic selection options for deleting multiple files, I find though that they are usually much slower to scan and find the duplicates in the first place. (And yes, I have more than once seen the 'wrong' ones get automatically picked for deletion. So always double check what has been automatically selected). I still use others occasionally to find 'near' duplicates such as edited images or the same image at different resolutions. But I prefer CCleaner for speed in finding exact duplicates, even with manual selection of the ones to be deleted I find it quicker to use for finding exact copies. As you seem to be dealing with duplicate images then try VisiPics or Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder to see what I mean about the relative scanning speeds compared to CCleaner.
  2. Sometimes/often there wiil be newer versions of drivers than the one that you have installed. You don't always need that new version, and Microsoft doesn't think that you do so isn't updating it. Updating a driver may help something work better for you, it may not change anything for you, sometimes it may actually stop something from working properly. It's your choice but personally I would never update a driver unless I am seeing a problem - a problem that might be being caused by having an 'older' driver.
  3. @JohnRichard I suggest that you use Custom Clean until this issue with Health Check is fixed. Just use the default settings in Custom Clean, don't change any tickboxes.
  4. It appears to be affecting a sub-set of users, but of course it is annoying if you are one of those users. From what I can see from the reports so far it's an issue with updating particular software, or softwares. It's only affecting Health Check, only if you have CCleaner Pro. and only if you have a particular software, or softwares, to update. (Your Antivirus/Firewall rules may or may not also be involved, but it doesn't seem to be a main factor). The obvious fix will be to remove the offending software(s) from the list of those to be updated - once you know what software that is. I have no idea just what software that might be, but presumably it's one of the ones added to the updating list in v6.21. It would take testing to find, or for affected users to report what software Tools>Software Updater was finding for them to see if something common could be spotted. (I will note that the lists of what softwares to update are slightly different in Health Check than the seperate Software Updater, that might help the devs track it down). So it's a combination of at least 3 factors, one of which is dependent on what other software the user has on their machine and if it's up to date or not. Such combinations can and do get missed in testing. There is only limited testing time for any release, which means that you can't test every single possibly combination only the more common ones. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you are affected then you can try using Tools>Software Updater to update what it finds a couple at a time. Others have reported that fixes the issue for them. If you don't want to try that, or if it doesn't work for you, then I suggest that for the moment you use Custom Clean instead of Health Check.
  5. This issue with Heath Check which is affecting some (but not all) users is known about and being looked at. Until it gets fixed then if you are affected there are a couple of things that you can do. Some users report that using Tools>Software Updater to update whatever is found can stop the freezing happening in Health Check. If you want to try that then I suggest that you only do the software updates one or two at a time. If you don't want to try that, or if it doesn't work for you, then I suggest that for the moment you use Custom Clean instead of Health Check. See this:
  6. That message is inaccurate - it actually means that a required server cannot be reached for some reason. That could be s temporary problem at the server, but if you are seeing it all the time (for days/weeks) then it's probably something blocking your access to that server. The usual suspects are your antivirus or firewall. Can you tell us which antivirus you are using, and if it isn't Windows Defender then what version it is. Also what version of Windows you have may help.
  7. Thanks for reporting it.
  8. I would suggest that those experiencing this issue should try using Custom Clean rather than Health Check, at least until it gets fixed. That will still clean the 'Junk' and 'Space'. (it's not quite the same as HC, the defaults of what to clean are slightly different). Custom Clean does not look at the Startup apps (Speed in HC) or at updating software (Security in HC). So it won't get stuck the same. Just use the default Custom Clean rules, don't go ticking and unticking the boxes/options there unless you are sure what they do. Particularly don't just tick everything there, some are meant to be left unticked apart from the very occasional special use. Ticking some of those Custom Clean boxes could clear things that you don't want to be cleared. Simply open Custom Clean and click the Blue 'Run Cleaner' - or do an 'Analyze' first if you want to see what will be cleaned. You can set Custom Clean to be the page that you are shown when opening CCleaner. Change: Options>Settings>CCleaner home screen
  9. If it is the FREE trial then you have not yet paid anything. If you have not yet paid anything then you do not have a subscription to be managed. Cleverbridge are the payment processors, if you have not yet made a payment to them then you won't have a Cleverbridge number. So have you paid anything or not?
  10. As using Tools>Software Updater seems to be clearing it for some people then it is looking like a bug somewhere in the software updating part of Health Check. It's been flagged up to the staff for investigation.
  11. Wow, 9 months to reply. So long that Dave no longer even works at CCleaner. What he was getting at back then is that there is still a trace of Telegram somewhere on your machine. Something left-over from when you uninstalled Telegram. Software Updater is seeing that trace/left-over and so thinks that Telegram is still on your machine and needs to be updated. To stop that happening you will have to find and remove that Telegram left-over.
  12. Thanks @GerdWae That seems to point to something in the Software Updater that may have an issue/bug. (That would also affect Health Check in some circumstances). What happened with the Apple app(s) may be particular interesting. Is anybody else with this sticking using any Apple software?
  13. @Herman NL What Windows are you using? What AV are you using, and the version if it isn't Defender We need that kind of info to see if there is anything common to those seeing this sticking, which may in turn point to where any problem may lie.
  14. Try disconnecting from the internet and then running Health Check. Let us know how that goes. If you are running an antivirus other than Defener please tell us what that is and the version number.
  15. How far along the progress bar is it getting, if it's showing any progress at all? Try disconnecting from the internet and then running Health Check. Let us know how that goes. Can you tell us what Windows version you are using. If you are running an antivirus other than Defener please tell us what that is and the version number.
  16. Good to hear that you got it working again. Occasionally the download of an install or update will go a bit wrong and cause something odd to happen, like that 'sticking. Downloading a new installer and reinstalling using that new download will usually sort out odd little issues like that one.
  17. I don't have a Mac to check, One thought does spring to mind though - I note that in the Mac version of CCleaner the different cleaning sections are seperate buttons - It it possible that your browser is fully cleaning itself on closing (or is being cleaned by a script), meaning that there is nothing browser related for CCleaner to clean and so that button for cleaning the browsers greys out? (On Windows my Firefox browser is fully cleaned by my own batch file before I run CCleaner, and so CCleaner has nothing to clean for Firefox. It isn't a sperate button though in the Windows version). You could always try reinstalling your CCleaner to see if that changes that greying out behaviour.
  18. Very strange then and I can't explain that, other than possibly some kind of temporary glitch/redirect when downloading the update? I guess that we will never know for sure just what happened - nobody else has reported seeing the same thing (at least not yet). I'd put it down to one of the many odd things that can sometimes happen with computers, and as you have now reinstalled CCleaner Free I'd just carry on as normal. If it should happen to you again, and I doubt that it ever will, then please screenshot what it installs and post that screenshot here so that we have something to pass on to the staff for investigation. I've mentioned this to them anyway, but at the moment there isn't much to go on.
  19. You shouldn't normally use 2 AV programmes at the same time. However if you have installed a 3rd party AV then Defender turns itself off apart from an occasional scan. @APMichael picked up that you may be using Avira because there was a know problem with Avira moving the executable files of MS Office and other apps to a location where they should not be - C:\Windows\Temp\sentry_temp. Nothing that is needed should ever be in C:\Windows\Temp\. As the name says it is for temporary files, not needed applications. Once Avira had done that then if you ran a cleaner, any cleaner, it would clear Windows\Temp because that's what a junk file cleaner is meant to do, that cleaning would remove the needed files that Avira had (wrongly) moved into there. Which meant that you then had to install those apps again from scratch. We thought that Avira had (very quietly) fixed it and stopped moving the apps. but if you have that 'Sentry_Temp' folder then that is likely to be your problem here. It may be that you somehow have an older version of Avira. (or that the bug has come back in it). Are there any files in that sentry_temp folder on your machine? (maybe not if you have cleaned them). To be practical: Personally I would uninstall Avira completely - Windows Defender will then automatically take over again as you AV. (In my opinion Defender is a better antivirus that Avira is anyway). https://support.avira.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003162153-Uninstallation-of-Avira-for-Windows Don't forget to also remove any Avira browser extensions that you may have. If for some reason you don't want to uninstall Avira (and that's up to you of course) then make sure that is up to date and the latest version. Check on the webpage yourself, don't just click 'Check for updates' within the app: https://support.avira.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010656158-Current-Avira-versions Then make C:\Windows\Temp\sentry_temp an 'Exclude' in CCleaner, and do the same in any other cleaner that you might run. Note that Exclusions apply to Custom Clean, so after doing that only use Custom Clean and not Health Check.
  20. I note that the first and third screenshots show user pinned taskbar entries. AFAIK Health Check doesn’t/shouldn't clear those. The second one which is a browser is even more puzzling - Health Check would not remove anything from C:\Program Files As asked, what Antivirus are you using?
  21. Speccy is long overdue for an update, at the moment it can't fully/properly recognise some of the 'newer' chips and other hardware. We are told that they are working on an update for it, but just when that will happen is not known.
  22. OK, was it perhaps asking you for a 'Professional' licence rather than 'Business'? Despite the name 'CCleaner Professional' is for home use. 'CCleaner for Business' is a different thing altogether. The Free version of CCleaner will sometimes ask you if you want to upgrade to Professional, so you can then access the extra paid-for features. It doesn't usually ask for a licence key number at that point though, and you can just cancel it if you don't want to upgrade. Is this screen the screen that you saw asking you for a number? If it is then just clicking on 'Back' would have taken you out of it. Or clicking 'Health Check', 'Custom Clean', or one of the others would have taken you straight to those.
  23. CCleaner does not ask you for money like that, have you installed something else by mistake? Can you post a screenshot so that we may be able to identify it? (Whatever it is). PS. Malwarebytes and CCleaner are very different programmes and do very different things.
  24. Very unusual, Can you tell us how did you do the update? (step-by-step if possible) and I'll see if I can replicate it. Did you take any screenshots of the business version?
  25. I believe that payment data will be held at the payment processors; Cleverbridge. They are GDPR compliant and there is a link to a form here to request the removal of data: https://support.cleverbridge.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003569354-How-is-Cleverbridge-ensuring-compliance-with-the-GDPR
