  1. I'm not sure about that. Wisewiz is reporting slow launching to the User Interface, starting with v6.10 and a new licence key. You are reporting slow cleaning starting with 6.09 - which is a different thing. Firstly are you using Winapp2 or some other add-on? If you don't trim them down after installing them then they can realy slow cleaning. I'd also suggest that you look in Task Manager and see what is running when 'idle'. Open task Manager and let the computer sit there, after 5 or 10 minutes you'll probably see some background tasks start up. The fact that your cooling fans start up when 'idle' suggests that something is runnning in the background to make you chips run hotter. Following Windows Updates there is always quite a lot going on in the background, sometimes for hours afterwards. (or even days - if you don't allow the computer some idle time after a Windows Update then it has to do update tasks a little bit at a time when it can). You don't normally see all that background activity unless you are looking in Task maager, but it's using your CPU and could be slowing things down. eg. Last week's Windows Updates download a new iteration of the 'Malicious Software Removal Tool' which then loaded to scan your machine in the background. MSRT always slows down things a bit when it runs in the background.

  3. It's all useful stuff. Even if something does turn out to be only affecting one person you never know if it may later help someone else. Sometimes it can be a few years later that someone asks a question and you remember that something similar happened before so go looking for it again. As for the new style keys you are not the only one who didn't know about them, and I agree that from your testing it appears to be a significant factor; Here's Dave CCleaners explanation of them. Do you by any chance have any AV/Firewall blocks on Avast, AVG, or HMA? Anyway it's gone midnight here so I think we'll have to wait and see if the staff pick up my flag when they get into work tomorrow morning (UK time).

  5. So to recap, The launch-lag has only started happening for you with Pro v6.10 registered with your new key. It doesn't happen if you use your old key to register Pro v6.10. It does happen if you use an older version (v6.08) with that new key. It doesn't happen with an new install of Free v6.10. Very peculiar. Can I ask (just for a bit more info); is your old key one of the 24 digit ones (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and presumably the new one is the new 20 digit style (XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX)? For licencing issues you have to contact support, and I'm not sure what they would make of this odd situation or if they would just issue an alternative key. TBH I'm not sure that getting another key would change anything. As you are the only one reporting this lag at the current time then it does seem to be something specific to your machines and/or the way they are set up. But just what that would be to act in this odd way I can't think. Even if it were something like your AV or Firewalls then why delay one key/version combination but not another? So it does seem to be looking like it may be the new key, but just why that might happen is puzzling to say the least. I'll flag it up to the staff to see if they can help to throw any light on what may be happening here. It's almost 11 at night here in the UK though, so they may not see it until tomorrow morning.
  6. Ok so it's not that 'backup' bug, and it only happens after your register CCleaner using the new key. Have you tried putting your old key into 6.10 using 'Activate new key' and seeing how 6.10 launches with the old key?
  7. Options>Licence Key>Activate new key should let you put the old key in without having to reinstall. I also know a couple of other ways to change/use a different key, but is it worth it if you only have a couple of weeks left on it? You say that was v6.08 though, which wasn't laggy for you anyway. So what is Pro v6.10 doing on launch that might be making it laggy? (And if it is a licence check then again being disconnected from the internet should stop that check happening and so stop the lag).   8. We have seen long CCleaner loading times in the past, as long as 8 or 15 seconds. I've suffered from 8 second loading lag myself in the past, but like I say I'm not seeing any lag with 6.10 and presumably Hazelnut isn't either or would have mentioned it. (and nobody else has reported any lags - not yet anyway). When I said go offline I just meant disconnect from the internet to see if it was pausing/lagging because CCleaner was trying to make a connection to a server that it couldn't make. If you are not connected to the net then it (usually) recognises that and so doesn't try to connect to anything. Mine is taking slightly longer to open if this laptop is on the wifi than if it's in Flight mode, but it's less than a second in both cases. I'm trying to think what else could be causing it for you. I believe you have already turned off Smart Cleaning and Automatic Updating, so we can rule those out. Are you using the Perfomance Optimiser? Are you using Winapp2?
  9. I'm not seeing a lag here. (2 laptops. one with Pro one with Free). Odd that you say it's growing for you, that's certainly not been reported in any of the previous 'lag' posts. Does it change if you go offline before launching CCleaner?
  10. I've just done an quick comparison of 6.09 and 6.10 following a short Firefox session. Cleaned with 6.09 then analyzed with 6.10 - to see what extras 6.10 found that 6.09 hadn't cleaned. As well as the above file there is a second file found, again under 'Internet Cache'. Its called 'cache2.2023-03-16-{and so on with identifiers}' Again the Analyze listed it twice, but it's only listed once after being cleaned.* There may be others depending on your Firefox settings. (or maybe if I'd done a longer Firefox session). *That may help explain some of the reports of different amounts being reported than cleaned that we have see in the past.
  11. It something I've been meaning to look at too. I don't believe that it's new sections, but new items within the existing sections. For now I can identify one new 'profile_count_{profile charcters}.json' file that is under the 'Internet Cache' cleaning section. Oddly the Analyze seems to pick up that file twice, although it only shows once when cleaned? I need to do more comparision testing when I get round to it.
  12. Good to hear that you sorted it to your satisfaction. CCleaner Pro doesn't clean any differently from the Free version, but it does have extra tools and options available. You appear to have installed the Pro trial so you can try them out and see if they are things that you want/need.
  13. I also have to agree, if CCleaner v6.10 is dong this then it shouldn't be. (I don't have Teamviewer here). If the files can't be cleaned because the service is already running then CCleaner should either 'Skip' them or ask you if you want to close it. That's what it does with browsers or any other running app/service. It shouldn't just close the service without giving you a choice. And it certainly shouldn't restart it; particularly if it wasn't even running before. I've escalated this to the staff.
  14. As Hazelnut says, I suspect that you may have 'Prompt me to Clean on closing' set for one or more of your browsers. You can change the option(s) or turn it off.
  15. CCleaner v6.10 has added more cleaning options for some common apps: So you may see it cleaning things that older CCleaner versions didn't. But it shouldn't be starting any service other than it's own. Can you tell us what makes you think that CCleaner is starting the Teamviewer service rather than just cleaning Teamviewer files?
  16. We'll need to know some more details to be able to help, to start with: What operating system are you using? (Windows, Mac, Android, Chrome OS?). What kind of device is it? (PC, Laptop, Chromebook, Tablet, Smartphone?). I'm assuming that the Chrome browser isn't syncronised? (If it was then most of that stuff would have come back anyway after cleaning). Where were the photos/videos saved? On your device or in cloud storage? In CCleaner did you use Health Check or Custom Clean? Did you use the registry cleaner? CCleaner is meant to clear junk like your browser history and cookies, that's not an accident it's what it's for. It should not (and doesn't) delete your bookmarks, but it will clear your currently open tabs and logins if you tell it to clear the browser 'session'. It does not delete photos, videos, or other files unless you very specifically tell it to do so. However if they are in cloud storage then it might have removed the links to them depending on just what you cleared. If that is what has happened then they are still there in the cloud and you should be able to restrore those links. Game saves will depend on just how and where they were saved, and just what you cleaned. PS. Recuva is probably not going to help you much here. It can recover files that have been deleted from your machine, so if the photos/videos were deleted from there it could get them back. But if they are in the cloud then they weren't on your machine, so they are still in the cloud. Whilst Recuva can recover the files with the browser history, etc. you'd need to know just which files those were and then where to put them back, there will be multiple copies/versions of those files recovered from different dates so you'd also need to know just which one of each to put back.
  17. That's a generic message and just means that it cannot contact a server for some reason. Sometimes a server will go offline for a while, or it may be a problem with your service provider. Those usually clear themselves as someone notices it and fixes the problem. But if you are seeing this constantly over a number of days then it's an indication that something is blocking your connection to the server(s). That's usually your Antivirus or Firewall settings doing the blocking. You can try doing a scan in Health Check to see what it says for both 'Speed' and 'Security'. (You don't need to click 'Make it better' if you don't want to actually do a Health Check clean). Those two are different servers and sometimes it can connect to one but not the other, which shows if it's a particular server/connection having a problem. If both are unavailable than that's an indication that the connections are being blocked, probably by your AV or firewall settings. It is not recommended, either by Piriform/CCleaner or by Microsoft themselves, to regularly run the Registry Cleaner on Windows 10 & 11. Their registry entries change too often. As you have noted certain needed registry entries will be recreated by Windows if/when cleared.   18. Have you tried stopping the Windows installer service and clearing the temp folder before changing permissions? (In your OP you seem to say you did it the other way round).   19. It is not a bug, it is a trial of a new User Interface. What you are seeing is a Beta trial of that Welcome page. Only some users are seeing it and not everybody. That's what Beta trials are about - to evaluate/check something in the real world by giving it to a limited group of users first before a full roll-out.     Health Check

    It's just stupid wording. (The developers seem to think that we are all children). All it means is that Health Check has found something to clean or something to update. Even if it only finds just one temporary file to delete it will say 'under the weather'. CCleaner will almost always find something to clean, Windows is creating temporary files all the time, so even when you have just cleaned there will be something else to clean if you run CCleaner again. So it's probably not worth messing with until we get the final implementation.
  23. I've just put a 1TH external drive on my other laptop to wipe around 700GB of free space using one pass. It's plugged into a USB2 post so I wasn't expecting fast speeds. Sure enough it's reporting about 10 hours 20 mins to complete. I never trust such estimates from any software or those from Windows itself, so we'll see. With the coincidence of your 7:1 timings you have to wonder if in fact it's only doing one pass for you? Which as I say is sufficent to render whatever was there unrecoverable so extra passes are not needed. (It may even be recognising that a particular cluster is already 'empty' so not spending time writing to it). The recommending of rival product is not allowed, this is a company forum after all. As a moderator I'd usually remove any such recommendations for rival products, depending on the context of the post, so posting any myself would be out of order. Google would be your friend there.
  24. I don't know if drive wiper has been improved or not. If it's an external drive then the USB port that it's plugged into can make a difference. Obviously the size of the drive will make a difference to a full wipe, wiping a 120GB drive will be quicker than a 1TB drive. If it's your system drive it can only wipe the free space, so how much is free will make a difference. But 7 passes is overkill, one pass is sufficent to wipe a drive. The options for multiple passes is a leftover from years ago when it may have been benificial. (But was usually overkill back then too). I think it's been left there for those who do like overkill and would moan if the option was removed. PS. Driving wiping is not something that you would "normally" need to do. It's usually done so that deleted files can't later be recovered, eg. if you are selling/giving the drive or the computer to someone else. (Although I have recently wiped the free space on all my external spinners after one of them crashed, lost the file table, and Recuva recovered years worth of old deleted files from it which I didn't really want back. Even worse I'd at one time used it as a backup drive so there were multiple copies of the old files recovered. So I decided to wipe the free space on the others to avoid that issue if one of them should crash in future).
