  1. I did say that above, (and gave a screenshot), and said that you should turn automatic updates off as well as smart cleaning if you don't want to see the icon in the system tray. Do you have them BOTH turned off now? and has the icon gone?
  2. I see. In that case I would first try the following: Enable Smart Cleaning, for both Junk and Browsers. Close CCleaner, restart the computer. Disable Smart Cleaning, for both Junk and Browsers. Close CCleaner, restart the computer. Sometimes task settings in Windows do get stuck in one state, and toggling the task on and off like that can unstick them again. If that still hasn't cleared it then, I'd make a note of your licence key and name, and you custom settings, uninstall CCleaner, restart the computer, reinstall CCleaner. I'm sure that you are doing this already, but just to note that it should be a 'Restart' and not a 'Shutdown/reboot).
  3. Your screenshot shows that you are asking about getting a CCleaner logo in the system tray. That is caused by either Smart Cleaning which you already have turned off, or by 'Keep CCleaner updated automatically' in Options>Updates. PS. It isn't a bug in CCleaner, it's just Windows doing what Windows does. Turn off the automatic updating (as well as smart cleaning) and that icon should no longer appear in the tray. For the other running tasks that you mention (these DON'T put an icon in the tray): The crash reporter task does run by default. It runs at a set time each day and checks if there are any CCleaner error logs to report. If there are then it sends them, if not then it waits until you next have your computer on at the same time. It does briefly flash a command window on screen when it runs, which can be puzzling/annoying. You can prevent seeing that flash window by going into Windows Task Scheduler and setting the trigger to 'Startup' rather than a set time each day.   4. It does sound like an FP, but: It may just be possible if you have previously had a malware (a worm) that had been automatically removed/deleted by Windows Security. (or your antivirus if you run a different one). You may not have even noticed that when it happened. Recovery of deleted files might then bring that deleted malware's files back - and so Windows Security saw it again, warned you, and removed/deleted it again. Which is a reassurance that your Windows Security is working as it should do. ie. WS had at some time deleted the worm files, - you then recovered them, - so WS promptly deleted them again. The second two are just what you describe as happening. You need to start a topic on the Malwarebytes forum, provide them with some logs, and then follow their instructions carefully. If in doubt about anything they want you to do then ask for clarification before doing it, they won't mind. I do hope that you do get your files back, especially if you are paying for a recovery app. I do worry though that they may just be empty filenames (zero bytes) which is why Recuva was ignoring them because there is nothing to recover other than the name. Some trial versions will show you things that have no real chance of being recovered, simply to persuade you to buy, You will only find out for sure after paying paying for the software and trying the recovery. Of course one app may be sucessful where another isn't, that's why there are different ones.
  7. Sorry I don't know of any way of viewing a cache on Android. I have Firefox on my phone set to clear history on quit, but as I rarely quit Firefox then I just clear the history from the 3-dots menu in Firefox. You can also go to settings there and 'Delete browsing data' if you prefer. Alternatively in the 3-dots menu go to Settings>Private Browsing, set 'Open links in a private tab' then 'Add private browsing shortcut' to your homepage. Use that shortcut icon to then only ever open Firefox in private mode which will clear search and browsing history from tabs when you close them (or when you quit) so that no-one else using the device can see what you did. Personally I don't have CCleaner Android I tried it didn't like it, uninstalled it. I'll stick with it just for PC.
  8. The simplest way to check would be to clean and then look if the history is still in the browser or not. Remember that if it is synced then anything that CCleaner clears from the device will be put straight back from the cloud by the syncing, that's what syncing does.
  9. The 'ignored' files may also be being ignored because they are zero-bytes, or are System files. Although they are unlikely to by system files on a USB stick, You could try ticking 'Search for Zero-Byte files' in the 'Actions' to see if it will then display them.
  10. As I suspected you are attempting to recover the non deleted files from a corrupted drive. However you are using the wrong recovery method to do that task, and are instead scanning for deleted files, - that is why the non deleted files are being ignored. (It is also why a deep scan is taking a long time). There is a specific method to recover the non deleted files from a corrupted drive, see this post for a step by step guide:
  11. OK, I think I know what may be going on here. Are you trying to recover files that had been accidentaly deleted, or non deleted files from a USB that had become corrupted? Those are different kinds of recovery and are each done in different ways. If it was a corrupted drive and you scan it for deleted files then the ones that were not deleted will show as 'ignored'; so you have to do a diferent kind of scan. Are you using the Recuva Wizard or the Advanced Options? Can you tell us step by step how you are doing the recovery, screenshots would be good.

  13. Had you set it to search only for photos? Are the ignored files not photos? If the ignored files are photos then have you tried a Deep Scan?
  14. I think that it's more to do with the fact that defragging is defragging - so what is there to be updated? When something already works as well as it can then there is nothing to be fixed or 'made better'. Unless the technology of spinning drives has a startling new innovation, or someone comes up with a magic way to do defrags differently, then all that is left for any 'update' is to mess about with the user interface. (And then many will shout 'I don't like this new look, can we have the old familiar look back?').

  16. You have posted in a 17 year old thread. How do you think that having an active subscription to CCleaner or not could affect/enable the charging of your battery? Billions of people don't have a CCleaner subscription, mostly their batteries charge with no problem unless there is a fault with their battery or their charger. (Now if you had said it the other way round and that having a CCleaner Pro subscription active prevented charging then that just might be a very, very slight possibility - if there was a bug). If you have more details of just why you think that CCleaner may be responsible for if your battery charges or not then please start a new thread of your own with those details.
  17. When did you send them? What address did you send them to? Did you get an automated reply? PS. Sending multiple emails can/will actually slow things down. There is another possibility that we see quite often though. It can often be PayPal that has taken a 'repeating/subscription' payment and not CCleaner at all. So that taken payment is sat in a kind of limbo at PayPal. Check your PayPal account to see if there are any such 'repeating/subscription' payments set up.
  18. If you log into one part of your google account you automatically get logged into everything 'google' these days. And just opening Chrome can automatically log you into your account. Check your Chrome settings, a recent Chrome update may have changed them. Of course Firefox is not Google so won't do that. I don't use Chrome, log into google only to access gmail, and log out of my google account as soon as I've done with gmail.

  22. There should only be files that you have deleted in the bin, so unless you have deleted something that you shouldn't have then clearing the bin has no effect at all on how apps open. If an app is slower to open after you have run CCleaner then it is the cleaning of that app's own cached files that is causing it, not the bin at all. For example if you clear the Adobe Reader (or Adobe Reader DC) files then Reader will be slower to launch next time you open it - because it has to reload the font files etc. into the cache again.

  24. No they DO apply. The Includes and Excludes apply to Custom Clean - so they do apply in Smart Cleaning too. (The note about which rules Smart Cleaning uses is because Health Check uses different rules).
  25. Thanks, as said those new Health Check screens are being trialed with only some users, so they may (probably will) be tweaked/changed again before being fully rolled out.
