I'm using CCleaner 5.44.6577 and the last time I used it and let CC clean my system, I had so many new issues on my system (applications not working or working super weird) I had to run a system restore using my latest Acronis backup (I run daily incremental updates). After the restore, the system performed as I expected. Several years ago I had similar issues with CCleaner. It seems that CC is cleaning too much and now I'm really reluctant to use it.

mta - For the restore points, are you referring to the folder at "C:\Windows\System32\restore"? I did look an currently the only thing in this folder is one small text file. I assume that because this is a new PC I have no restore points. I will be setting this up in the near future. For VSS I opened the Options > Advanced and checked "Stop VSS when defragmenting NTFS volume". I just read some of the FAQ and one does address stopping VSS, it seems that this should be the default. For the hibernation file, I added "C:\hiberfil.sys" to the exclude list Nergal - Previously I had read that you should not have more than 5% fragmentation thus I was concerned that DF was reporting 23%.

OK I just ran the windows analyze function in Win10 as well as the analyze in Defraggler. Win10 reports that the drive is 3% fragmented and Defraggler reports that it is 23% fragmented, see the image. Obviously one of them is wrong.

I'm running the Defraggler Pro v2.22.995 on my laptop. I have one drive (698GB TOSHIBA MQ01ABD075 (SATA )) which has two partitions. "C" partition 242GB, this is the boot partition "E" partition 453GB, this is my data partition I've run Defraggler twice and have not reduced the fragmentation lower than 21% on the C partition (see the attached image). A fragmentation level of 21% seems excessive. The E partition shows zero fragmentation. The C partition shows 174 Fragmented files (10.9 GB). The current number of fragmented files is 174 which is MUCH lower than what I originally had (sorry I did not capture an image) but I expected it to be much closer to zero. Possibly I'm just confused, Do you have a dummies version of what I should know about this?

In the Pro version of Speccy on my WIn10 x64 system when I display the operating system the version and build of Win10 is not displayed. If I execute the "winver" CMD I can see the version and build. I suggest that this be included.

I currently have 12 HD connect to my desktop and have a schedule set for each drive, however the schedule does not seem to be running for three of my drives (I'm not sure about the other drives). See the attached image Defraggler Schedule Task Not running 2016 0623.png Two days ago I kicked off a defrag on the "L" drive and as of the current time it reports that the remaining time is 18 hours 45 minutes and is 61% completed. The performance seems to be the pits. I could copy the entire contents of the drive to another drive is less time.

In all of my MS office 2013 applications I use the recent list and pin important files to the list. When I run CCLeaner it deletes all of my entries. How in the heck do I prevent this?

I've setup a schedule to run monthly for all of my drives and only to run if the frag level is greater than 10%. I just noticed that it is not running, I've checked the setup and I don't see anything wrong. Does the attached image provide enough info for you?

I just installed Recuva Pro v1.52.1086, when I click on the drive select dropdown after about 2 seconds it starts to flash. This is super annoying. In the dropdown I see most of the attached harddrives and under the disks I see Recovery..... What is this? Then it has a section labeled Local disk (\\.\HarddiskVolume xx) where XX is a number. How do I map these entries to the actual drives? (see the following image) What are the shadow copies? In Recuva I pressed the F1 key but no help is presented.

I've had this issue at least 6 times in the last year where suddenly a drive (different drives, different USB enclosures and some were connected directly to the MB) that has been working for weeks to months will suddenly appear as a new unformatted drive. Just yesterday it occurred on one of my backup drives (WD 6TB Black) and there are a few folders I'd like to recover (the rest I can easily recreate) and I have a few questions. The drive is currently in a Thermaltake USB 3 enclosure and I have not done anything to it since the issue occurred. When this occurred with the previous drives I suspected that the drive was at fault and I ran numerous different test and all reported that the drive was OK and no problems were found. Following is some additional info. I'm running a clean install of Win10 and about 1/2 completed with the entire process. So far this has been the worst windows installation I have every attempted in the past 30 years. I have encountered numerous issues that have taken days to weeks to resolve. Also some of the new default settings have created issues for me and again a lot of time to resolve. I have a total 11 hard drives on this system of which a SSD is my boot drive. Some of the drives are directly connected to the MB and others are in USB enclosures. The drives are about 40% data and 60% backup. Yesterday when I detected the issue I opened Computer Management and then Disk Management. At that time windows informed me I had a new drive attached I elected to just do nothing at the time. Now when I go into Disk Management I do not get the message and I do not see the unformatted drive. I just turned off and back on the USB enclosure, I still do not see the drive. BTW I could attach the USB enclosure to another system. Now for some questions I have Recuva Pro v1.52.1086, to recover the folders I'm interested in - do I first format the drive and then have Recuva process the drive? If this is not the correct action please let me know what I should do. The really big question is, why did I lose the drive and it now appears as unformatted? Any suggestions as to how I can prevent this in the future? Is there any additional information I can provide to help with the issue?

I have a rather large number of hard drives (9) attached to my system and find the storage section of Speccy Pro difficult to use when I'm looking for specific information regarding my drives. Currently the listing order is by drive model such as "WDC WD60EFRX-68MYMN1" and the details of the drive follow. I'd like to see an option that would allow me to create a list based on drive letter. This would allow me to quickly zero in on the drive(s) I'm interested in. I'm surprised as to how often I use this section and the difficulty I have finding the specific drive I need the details for. When using the current view for some unknown reason it often reverts back to the top of the list and I have to again hunt for the section I need.

Although I've had Recuva for a long time I finally started to use it. I accidently deleted a file from one of my hard drives (my R drive) which is an internal 3TB drive with 1.6TB free. At this point I decided to use Recuva to recover the file. I scanned the R drive and in the results window I do not see the file I just deleted. The only entry is the file R:\SRECYCLE.BIN\S-1-5-21-1109494292-1720574966-2506033647-1001\ and the date of the file is 08/09/2063. Thus I seem to have two issues (1) the file I just deleted is not found (2) the date of the recovery file is year 2063.

On my 6 core processor (Processor AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor, 3200 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)) running Win8.1 with 16GB of RAM defraggler is constantly consuming between 15% to 20% of my system. What the heck is going on? What other details is needed to explain why Defraggler is consuming so much of my PC?
