  1. Maybe s/he means Teagan, who has previously reported the same problem: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=35577 I find this problem also quite annoying; we shouldn't have to uncheck programs because CCleaner removes something that it shouldn't. Perhaps someone should post this in the Bugs subforum.
  2. Have you tried unchecking Office 2010 in the Applications tab?
  3. I do sometimes login to the Piriform forum from outside of my home. Unfortunately the 'Remember me' checkbox is automatically pre-checked, and I have to uncheck it each time before logging in. This has bothered me for quite a few years, and I finally today decided to ask if this checkbox could not be pre-checked? This shouldn't matter to anyone who's permanently logged-in, but it will help those who do not want to remain permanently logged in. Thank you!
  4. Java, in contrast to JavaScript, is not a scripting language. But yes, we are off-topic, led by me. I apologize!
  5. Python 2.7 is still available. What is so bad about Python 3?
  6. Ah, Python: there's a powerful language! I have done lots of stuff with JavaScript lately (and I admit I like JS), but then I found a way to call Python - what a difference... But I'm afraid we are wandering seriously off-topic...
  7. Wow - you have been as long in the business as I have (started 1970 on IBM 360 systems, using assembler and PL/I).
  8. Just curious; in what way "bad", and compared to what other languages? I have never written anything in Java, but it appears to be pretty similar to C++ (which is pretty bad; its string handling capabilities are extremely limited).
  9. The two most popular softwares using Java are OpenOffice and LibreOffice. Not all components require it; just some (like Base). LibreOffice is trying to get away from Java, while OpenOffice now belogs to Oracle, like Java, so the two will most likely stay together. One of my favorite diskspace analyzing tools, JDiskReport, uses Java. Web tools requiring Java; I know just a few: Secunia OSI, hardware manufacturers' (Intel, AMD, Nvidia, ...) device driver checking tools (but they use ActiveX Controls on Internet Explorer).
  10. Most good AV systems should take care of that, and move infected items into some virus vault. (This may not work for webmail.)
  11. I think it's good to be concerned about the security of our computers and software on it. But removing every software that could possibly be exploited would mean removing everything, including Windows itself! I have been using Windows since 1994, and I never had any security issues with any software. Keeping computers safe means updating software when updates become available responsible web surfing creating regular backups firewall and up-to-date AV not necessarily in that order. I have and keep Java, although I do not use it often. I have and keep Flash Player, although I do not use it often. I have lots of other software that receive regular security updates, and it does not worry me. Too much worry may lead to stomach ulcers
  12. If you are using Windows 7 or Vista, you can use the Windows Snipping tool to capture and save any area of the visible desktop.
  13. I don't think so; brfghr is using CCleaner 3.13, which was released in November 2011. Never bothered to check the Applications tab in almost one year...?
  14. In the light what TheWebAtom wrote, does the date update if you go to any HTML5 page?
  15. Have you ever been to Okinawa? They make great food with SPAM down there, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chanpuru
  16. I installed LibreOffice on my new Windows 7 system, but found that it would not format Word or Excel documents correctly, nor did it execute macros the same way as MS Office does. Worst of all, the Base portion (database) of LibreOffice was severely limited (no support for FULL OUTER JOIN, incorrect results for LEFT / RIGHT OUTER JOIN). I finally installed MS Office and SQL Server, and all works as expected. But I still need JRE for other apps.
  17. Well, wouldn't it be just great if CCleaner could do that for us...
  18. I didn't notice any slowness in FF15, but then I use mostly Waterfox on my 64-bit machine.
  19. See this discussion regarding HSQLDB replacement to get rid of one of the last Java dependencies: https://bugs.freedes...ug.cgi?id=51781
  20. It looks like SQL definitions to me (CREATE TABLE, CREATE INDEX, etc.). What is the date of that file on your machine? I do not even have an OfflineCache folder on any of my machines with Firefox/Waterfox 15. All my sqlite files are in the main profile folder.
  21. There are actually very few websites or web applications that require Java; I only know about three or four (Secunia OSI is one of them). My country has just opened an e-voting website for expats; very useful, but it's fully written in Java. I guess I will just keep the Java plugin disabled, and temporarily enable it when a site requires it. P.S. LibreOffice is slowly going away from the JRE requirement. Right now only the DB component requires it, and that will be replaced in the next major release. OpenOffice on the other hand, now belonging to Oracle, will of course remain Java dependent.
  22. Firefox/Waterfox stores lots of things in various sqlite db files; I believe cookies as well. However, these files are not cookies per se, just storage files. What Firefox version are you running; I do no longer have an index.sqlite file with Firefox/Waterfox 15.
  23. Welcome to the Piriform forum. That is not something I have ever observed. I run CCleaner, and that's it. If I run it again, it finds nothing. What is your Windows version? What is your CCleaner version?
  24. I don't know why you cannot access support; did you try http://www.piriform.com/support ?
