  1. Thank you so very much for yours "Relentless" Patience in this regard. I somehow couldn't do Justice to yours Child-like Nurture evident across this entire Thread. My sincere apologies for the same, & I wish you all the Very Best for all yours future endevors! :-) May God Bless you:-) Oh I didn't want to do that...but somehow couldn't keep it to my self... One last help::: Now since Iam equipped with Recovery Media based Thumb Drive, do we still need Recovery Partition? Is there a way to "Reclaim" it too?...or simply flush it out to dole out some "More" Free Space!? I promise to end my last Correspondence for this Thread with a simply "Thank you":-) Trust me....:-)
  2. Well Derek Yes! You have every right to confront me on this arbitrary kind of approach followed in this regard. Well... Iam enrolled to 2Mbps of Data Download Plan that remains effective upto a Download limit of 3GB. Post that, it goes throttled down to 512Kbps. Although, its an "Unlimited Data Download" Plan, but Iam short of that Patience to leave my PC ON for the whole night, & to screw up my Golden 3GBs for the sake of a Single mammoth Download!:-) The reason I insist upon 10.10 is that because it is the only last version available with me got in the form of a "Free" Shipment. You must be very aware of Ubuntu's Shipit Programme, which has been discontinued now. Please have a look at the latest position of the Hard Disk as shown against the attached Screenshot. My apologies are extended to the attached Screenshot as well :-) Hope, you'll be able to guide me still on what remains BEST possible for my case. Thanks. In India, we are still running too short to usher in an era of Broadband Revolution. 2Mbps is widely construed as a decent available option among the offered plans. I went to an extent to even attempting to Purchase Ubuntu's latest version, but the inclusion of the Shipping Cost betrayed my idea of a fair bargain at the very end! Will try & approach the Ubuntu's Local Community, & see if they can make it a fair tradeoff somehow?
  3. Hello Derek! Following your instructions, I created a unallocated Space of 60 GB, & ran Ubuntu's 10.10 Installation over it. It went successfully, & asked me to Reboot the machine at the end. Now, Iam unable to see the Boot Menu that use to offer us a Choice to select the desired Operating System to run. My Windows Installation is Intact, & Iam directly able to Boot on to it, automatically. Surprisingly, diskmgmt.msc still shows 60 GB of space as Unallocated! although the size of C: has reduced proportionately (as obvious). Now is there a way to correct this issue? During the Ubuntu's Installation, I chose Manual allocation over "Alongside" option as the latter were allocating 161GB for Ubuntu's Installation that caught me apprehensive. During "Manual allocation", I even created a Swap space of 4MB using a quota of an available Free space. For "Boot Loader" Installation I preferred the default setting of dev/sda. Lastly, Is there a way to reclaim 60GB lost over to unallocated space? What if I wish to intermingle it/ or Unshrink it to the previous state? I feel Iam lost, as there were no option to send you the Installation Screen's screenshot. Nevertheless, Windows 8 appears intact.
  4. Iam absolutely "stunned" with your sense of taking an "Ownership"! Kudos to your efforts. Trust me, the Original issues have now become secondary for me. In fact, Iam left with all "Praise" for you! & this is no false imitation. For the very first time in my life, I have seen such a forum where Members like your goodself leave no stone unturned to bring out that ultimate "Awe" within you! Amazing.....!! I'll surely keep you abreast with every inch of progress in this regard, & Thank you so very much for letting me know the exact values to be punched in for shrinking the Volume. Thank you. :-)
  5. Hello Derek! Thanks for the Comprehensive explanation again! You do that with such an ease:-) (I suppose so...) For your Update, Yes, Iam using an HP AIO Desktop Computer that came with a 2GB of System Memory (RAM) installed by default. & I intend to use the Ubuntu as my Secondary OS. Does a shrink in the C: partition will result in the formation of an unallocated space or a free space? & lastly, in the wake of an information of a 2GB of installed system memory, what values would you like to update for "Amount of Space to Shrink" referred to against the screenshot attached in the prior post? Thanks.
  6. Hello Derek 891 & all those Friends out there! :-) I would like to express my wholehearted gratitude for a great deal of lucidness portrayed all across the submitted posts, & that too with a great level of Patience. I would like to confirm... that I have now with me a USB Flash drive based Recovery backup! The link posted earlier by Derek were of Great help! Thank you:-) I would like to ask a couple of questions too, & cooperation in this regard will be sincerely appreciated. >> I have always observed installation of OS through CD Disks. Do I need to make any special provision (like enabling First Boot device) to make use of this USB based Recovery when required? How do we access the options for making the "First Boot Device" with HP AIO machines? >> Now since Recovery Media can be made only once, is there a way to create Discs out of the Recovery backup stored on the USB Flash drive? >> Is the purpose of a Disk Imaging Software (like Macrium Reflect) goes similar to creating a no. of Restore points on your machine, generally what is achieved by turning on "System Protection" or "System Restore"(Prev. version of Windows)? Will the installation lead to any kind of slowdowns? >>On the basis of the attached screenshot( & the ones attached earlier), can I make way for Ubuntu's installation too within the existing setup?
  7. Hello Login 123, You got that Right! He is the favorite amongst all " Super Heroes" these days:::: The Renowned Whistle Blower, the former NSA Contractor::: Mr. Edward Snowden! :-) Though, Trust me.....I do like him, especially from the side view :-) Nevertheless, He's my Hero!
  8. Thank you for your help Hanzelnut! I wonder...(& please do not mind that)...but why do the Humans out here have to masquerade as Sheeps....& with all those Weird avatars? Why do I mostly see 'Cartoon Characters' related avatars for the members helping out the desperate at this Forums?
  9. Yes Hazelnut! You got that Right! Just have a glimpse of an array of the "Scheduled Tasks" as attached to this conversation, & suggest if merely disabling the same would set the things right? Why do a Tick for the "Advanced Options" pose a more Scary look? Please also check out the Descriptive entries as posted against the 2nd attachment, as were portrayed when "Advanced Options" were enabled for these. Thanks for your Help! startup.txt startup1.txt
  10. Hello mta! Please "Update" the status in relevance to the above remark. Did you find an effective way to get rid of the Wise Memory Optimizer?
  11. Well......for now..I think, it would be appropriate to the follow the advice to turn a Blind eye as long as the sky do not comes crashing over your head! Iam sorry for being too "Mean" in this regard, but PC aka "Personal Computer" connotes a sense of comfort, peace, solace after a hectic work schedule at the Office! I would definitely like to spare a Weekend hunting out for the reasons behind such a anomaly. You know....Iam going bereft of "Spark" to even invest a due diligence for making the Recovery Disks out of the newly purchased PC. Like somebody well said......In India, they WAIT for the Disaster to happen! Gimme some time....& I'll return a deserving gratitude for the efforts of Team Members! Thanks for being patient!
  12. Ok Andavari, I'll do so....But, shouldn't the CCleaner be able to effectively "Smoke out" such stealth Software out of their Holes!? I remember President Bush calling on such a phrase during declaring the War on Afghanistan in the Year 2001 :-)
  13. Hello again! This is to Update...that though I have removed the "Advanced System Care Ultimate" + "Surfing Protection" (that came as a Bundled Package), yet, attempts to get rid of IOBit Uninstaller have remained futile! Therefore, it continues to say on in spite of making the main package removed from the list of installer programs. Do I need to seek help from some Anti-Malware forums, OR, try out "System Ninja" instead?
  14. Thank you, I would rather like to uninstall the entire ASC Ultimate Package! Iam already done with trying out its entire features during the Trial phase.
  15. Got the Point! Thanks all for the valuable feedback. For Alan_B::: Under Diskmgmt, a Right Click for the Context Menu, only yields "Help" as the sole option showing up for both Recovery Partitions. When the same steps are followed through Explorer ( My Computer>>Right Click the D:), the properties does indicate NTFS partition. For Login 123::: Yes you are Right, the Forum Guys are not at all agile, unlike your Team which respond everything with a Lightning quick speed:-) Now, I would certainly like to give a try to the Chat Session as you opined. Thanks again for the valuable time!
  16. Hello Folks! Iobit Uninstaller came as an "Uninvited" Guest, & that too in a surreptitious manner when "Advanced System Care Ultimate" Edition was installed last week! Now both, the inbuilt Win 8 Uninstaller as well as 'our revered' CCleaner were not able to invoke its Uninstaller screen in spite of making a Multiple attempts! You would be surprised to note, that even my SuperAntispyware also listed the same as an Unwanted Software during the beginning course to a Full System scan, & asked me for approval for its immediate removal. Upon consent, the scanning went as Usual with Clear Results. Yet, IO Uninstaller remains here to stay..! Any Ideas for such an audacious Hijack? Should I get rid of this entire Bundled Package?
  17. Hello Members! Please have a re-look at the Fresh Sceenshot attachment, & help scour for... what seems to be an apparent anomaly with the "Factory Default" partitions! I read somewhere that Win 8 boasts of 2 distinct features::: Refresh your PC & probably, Rejuvenate your PC.!? Will any of these of some help to correct such an ambiguity? Thank you...Waiting keenly to hear words of Wisdom:-)
  18. Any Other Member Please!...How may offer a better explnantion in context to Duplicate entries of Recovery drive as shown in the Screenshot attached above?
  19. Thanks! Will immediately follow your advise. But, have you gone through the attached screenshot? Is it OK to have duplicacy of Recovery Disk (D:)? & finally, why can't I see an unallocated space? I mean, 413 GB of space still sits free against my Primary Drive(C:)..?
  20. For God Sake! If I have purchased this PC, & is the sole user of this as well, what on earth makes Microsoft debar the only user from assigning him/her the Administrative Rights by default? What kind of philosophy is this? It sounds weird, but the neo-liberal policies of the Multi-Nationals have engulfed the PC & the Online World as well! Do my last words have something in common wih the chosen Pic? Guess...:-)
  21. Hello There! Neither does the list of the installed programs within CCleaner shows up an entry of "Wise Memory Optimizer". & nor does there stands a "Start-up Entry" devoted to its cause. Though, it loads in the memory at the very start of the machine! Iam wondering..how to uninstall that? My Tray Icon Gallery do shows the respective Icon sitting & oozing out sporadic intimations that "That much of Memory has been released"!? What Next Guys? PS::: Iam on Win 8 Desktop PC.
  22. Thank you very much to you both!...& that brings an end to this post. Atleast, please decipher the following points as was also listed above::: 5) Task Scheduler:::: Surprisingly, the Window is Greyed out, & Iam no longer able to Modify its Start-up type. & one final concern::: The Flash Player settings screen is also greyed out from where we can choose the "Update" type. At present, it is set to "Automatically Update", but I wish to choose it to Never check for an Update on its own. Thank you.
  23. Dear all, Thank you so very much for an earnest time & effort invested to my requirement. On reading, it turns out to be all the more 'apprehensive' to even think of making the System Dual boot (though with my Prev. XP Desktop, Ubuntu's alongside installation used to be a Breeze!, & have used it till they stopped shipping the Free CDs :-) ). Now going through the Kroozer's post, my "diskmgmt.exe" has retrieved the attached screen. Iam confisued to see a 2 identical listings of Recovery Partitions & a no preview of any Unallocated space!?......Is it Normal? The reason Iam asking so is.....it do not feels like a Fresh machine from the very start! There are sporadic stucks, everything going for a Freeze for a considerable interval...I mean, Iam not able to experience that 'Gliding feeling' that is generally expected of a new PC! Yesterday, The installation of a Windows Update too turned out to be Painful, as the Screen went stuck during the course of its Installation!? That's what reminds me of the golden days of Ubuntu & XP.... Did I become too Senti...? :-) Thanks...Please pool in your inputs. Yes, Derek 891, No Recovery DVDs have been made yet.
  24. Hello There! Its been 3 months since the puchase of this Win 8 Desktop based All-in-One PC from HP. My Hard drive has a plenty of Free space available to run an alternate OS too! I would like to ask, Can I use Win XP alongside Version 8 by creating a separate partition? Iam also contemplating on adding UBUNTU as well! Is it possible to have 3 OS? OR.. Can I have a combination of Win8+Ubuntu+Anderoid on a single machine? How do I create new paritions to allow an entry for an alternate OS? Do I need to wary of any Complications that might arise after this attempt? Do we require a separte software to allow the Boot Screen to make a choice among the installed OS? Please suggest. Thanks.
  25. Hello Mta! Iam further able to scour a few more "Doubtful" Services which are destined to start Automatically. Please have a keen look on these:: 1) Live Update::: Do not contains a description. I suspect it to be not associated with the Windows OS Update. 2) MBAM Scheduler::: I have tried disabling it a couple of time, but to no avail. I do not run any scheduled scan through MBAM, & have also deleted the entry within MBAM Interface that was mentioned against Schedule. Still, this service goes to "Auto Start-up" mode without fail. 3) Power::: I have set my Power Plan to be of "High Performance". Can I set it to Manual? 4) Print Spooler::: I rarely use a Printer, so can't it be settled to start "Manually"? 5) Task Scheduler:::: Surprisingly, the Window is Greyed out, & Iam no longer able to Modify its Start-up type. 6) Workstation:::: Again, can it be changed to Manual start-up type? & one final concern::: The Flash Player settings screen is also greyed out from where we can choose the "Update" type. At present, it is set to "Automatically Update", but I wish to choose it to Never check for an Update on its own. All suggestions in this regard will be sincerely appreciated. Thanks.
