    Drive Wiper

I just noticed that with on my Laptop with Win 10 using CC v 5.46 the drive wiper is acting strange. I have several drives which include C (a ssd) E and F which are partitions on a normal hard drive. I have not run a wipe on the free space for ages so decided to run one on E drive. CC denied access to that drive. When testing on the others, it gave a warning for the ssd of C drive but then started the wipe, F started without problems. E drive however will not start even after testing other configurations in settings. It always pops up saying access denied. I upgraded to v 5.47 and still the same problem. So the obvious question is, what would cause such a glitch. Is it something I am doing or a bug in CC? Only thing I can think of at this point is to uninstall CC then do a fresh install and see what happens.
  2. Hi, hope this will be the right thread for this question. I recently had to uninstall all of Nero manually. I cleaned the register using Norton and then used Ccleaner. Both found dead entries that were then removed. checking again ccleaner showed no problems. I then used Reg Hunter which indicated nearly 300 problems from mostly dead shortcuts which were no longer there but entries were still in the registry. So the question is, why did Ccleaner not find and clean these entries when Reg Hunter did? I am using the free version and was thinking of upgrading to the paid version, but now not sure. I can provide screen shots or jpgs if that would help. thanks
  3. Okay, I think I understand what you are refering to. It just seemed that when I checked the more secure but slower wipe it was much slower in the drive wipe, when I wiped all free space, on one pass, I was under the impression both places made adjustments to the same thing, wiping free space. Thanks for your time
  4. Additionally, If I go to settings and go for the slower better wipe it also checks the boxs for the wipe of the MFT free space. If I go for the faster less secure wipe, why do I see that the first thing that is wiped as it progresses is the MFT free space?
  5. Hello everyone, I see there is a place in settings to check for "Secure" wipe of free space and is slower but more secure. So is it slower because it makes more than one pass automatically, because when I chose to do a wipe I have one pass set so seems that it should be the same speed regardless. is it more secure to do a 3 pass wipe every 3rd day, or a one pass wipe everyday. Lastly if I delete lage files via windows recycle bin then do a wipe of free space am I just as secure as when I do a delete file from CCleaner to start with? Thanks in advance for any help TM
