  1. To everyone that was so kind as to offer their help, thank you sooo much. Long story short the issues I was experiencing that caused me to want to undo the registry cleaning I preformed has been solved. Essentially eliminating the need to restore the back up files. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't run into any other issues. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Happy Easter to those who celebrate that and I hope your all enjoying your weekend for those who don't. With much appreciation - me
  2. there is, one from 3/22 when I removed Java 7 update 11, and one from 3/20 - windows update. Is it as simple as selecting one? I don't want to do anything that's going to cause more problems.
  3. I'm pretty sure I am. I'm the only user on this computer and never have any issues installing or uninstalling anything.
  4. ok, did that, went into control panel/system & security/backup & restore and it says windows backup has not been setup. not sure where all those restore points that windows update and my virus program created. So since apparently I dropped the ball and didn't setup the back up (I thought it was) am I screwed? Are the .reg files that I saved the other day worthless? I really appreciate all the help your providing. Please let me know if I'm leaving anything out that I should be including.
  5. Not that I'm aware of. I did run a windows update and a virus scan before I used the ccleaner. Those normally say something about creating a restore point. But I'm not totally sure to be completely honest.
  6. Hi, I'd like to start by saying I have used the search feature and tried finding the specific answer but have had no luck (although it could be out there). I ran CCleaner for the first time the day before yesterday (3/28). I saved the .reg files so that I could restore those files in the event that I had issues after having used the program. (disclaimer: I'm no computer wiz, but I have grown up w/ computers since the internet was around so I'm not a total dummy either). I've read through the help section on Piriform and it seems pretty straight forward. Locate the .reg file that were saved and double click to restore them. But when I do I get an error message X Registry Editor: Cannot import C:\Users\Nancy\Documents\CCleaners Registry Backups\cc_2013038_170248.reg: Error accessing the registry. I ran the registry cleaner, then I did the cleaner, and to be thorough I reran the registry cleaner. So I have two .reg files saved. (maybe I shouldn't have done it twice?) anyway, I'm running windows 7, not sure what other info I should include. I would really love to get some advice / guidance from a more knowledgeable user if possible. Thanks in advance
