    Wipe free space

Andavari, I cleaned for junk files before I started wiping the drive, and it only cleaned for about 350 mb. I read somewhere that after we delete a file or uninstall programs there are still traces of them on the drive that can only be removed by wiping the drive. Maybe this is the reason I gained 29 gb on C drive.

    Wipe free space

I actually gained 29 gb from wiping drive C, and nothing from drive M according to Windows explorer. Unfortunately I haven't taken any screen shots.

    Wipe free space

Thanks for the reply. By partitions I mean to separate space C and M drive, where I have windows installed on C drive, and use M drive for backup my files. I ran wipe clean in two different time once for C and then for M drive. So you mean the info that is gviing during the process that x amount can be free is incorrect?
  5. I have not used this function for the last few years and recently decided to run it to gain more space. I have two partitions on my drive and after it runs for about half an hour I see that it can gain about 54 gb, and that was the same size that could be free for both partitions even though their sizes are different. However I could see that I gained about 29 gb on one partition and almost none on the other (checked the size from Windows explorer before and after the operation). I sat the program to use Simple overwrite 1 pass. Is it possible that it can't wipe correctly on both partitions or what? How are the other options, if I choose advance or complex? (I presume it will take longer to wipe free space)

    Startup

The same happens to me, have also uninstalled it but it keeps coming back.
  7. Hi DennisD, thanks for the info, I guess thats what I needed to know, I do it as its given in the above link, thanks
  8. As the title says whenever I run the Ccleaner, I uncheck the part for "Saved passwords", but after it is finished I can see that most of the passwords I have typed in are cleared and have to type them again except my Outlook and Yahoo mail accounts. Isn't it suppose to keep all the passwords by uncheking the part I mentioned?
  9. I have seen from the list that shows by Update checker that it will downgrade some of my softwares. As you see from the snapshot the first two softwares, Divx player and Opera browser will be downgraded to a version lower than I already have. Is it possible that it will happen? Is it a bug by Update checker?
  10. I have now uninstalled it and report back the results on how it is performing.
  11. Hi Dennis, Thanks for the reply. Yes its the same Update checker as you mention from Filehippo. I have been using it for more than a year and it had been working well until now. No I didn't uninstall it, just downloaded a fresh copy and reinstalled it. I haven't tried the standalone version of this program, I'll try it and see who it works for me.
  12. Hi all, I have been using this program Update Checker for sometime and I have been very satisfied with it until recently. However the last few times I wanted to update my softwares this program wouldn't start and I had to reinstall it in order to run it, meaning that after reinstall it works fine, but if I want to run it again later it will not start at all. I was wondering if there is a solution to this, my laptop is functioning without any problems and I am only experiencing problem with this program. thanks in advance
  13. Dennis, that is exactly what I experience and expect the software to do, which is to show a clear page after removal of those items as it does after cleaning the registry. So if thats what the software do, then I have to get used to it as it works and know its messages.
  14. Ever since I switched to Win7 (since 2010) it collects at least 500 mb, and I usually run it once a week. When it was running on XP (on my older laptop) it collected less than 100 mb. Also I have deactivated "the saved passwords", but it does remove all the passwords I use for several accounts except my Hotmail and Yahoo accounts. It also shows items that has been used by Firefox (which I don't have it on my laptop) and is listed when it has analyzed. But when cleaning the registry it cleans at the first step and no need to run it again. login123... I try your advice next time I run ccleaner.
  15. I am using Windows 7 home premium 64 bit, and the recent version of ccleaner 3.22.1800
