  1. If you add this line to the entry [Adobe Flash Player More*]:

    %AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player|*.*|RECURSE

    You have to add this line also:

    ExcludeKey1=FILE|%AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys|settings.sol

    Otherwise all your settings are gone!

    Example for modified entry:

    [Adobe Flash Player More*]
    LangSecRef=3023
    Detect1=HKCU\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer
    Detect2=HKCU\Software\Chromium
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%AppData%\Adobe\Flash Player|*.*|RECURSE
    FileKey2=%AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player|*.*|RECURSE
    FileKey3=%WinDir%\System32\Macromed\Flash|FlashInstall.log
    FileKey4=%WinDir%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash|FlashInstall.log
    ExcludeKey1=FILE|%AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys|settings.sol

  2. This entry could be removed from winapp2.ini because CC includes it already.

    [MS Office Temp Files*]

    LangSecRef=3021

    Detect1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0

    Detect2=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0

    Default=False

    RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common|FontBmpCache

    FileKey1=%AppData%\Microsoft\Office|*.tmp|RECURSE

  3. Thanks for your reply. It seems that the new version of CC ignores the UAC now. It doesn't make a difference if you select yes or no - CC starts with standard privileges only.

    But if you start the command prompt with the windows option "run as administrator" and then execute the parameter /EXPORT everything works fine again. So we have to use "run as administrator" always now?

  4. it's because they use .msp (Microsoft patch installer) for upgrades, less temp files, less update time, less likely to require computer restart, easier for self-installer network managers, easier for patch management software (domain or third. party). need I continue?

    Right, for the update only file (AdbeRdrUpd1013.msp) this is ok. But also the full installer file (AdbeRdr1013_xx_XX.exe) refuses the update even though it includes all the necessary files - and that is ridiculous.

  5. Cleaning the Adobe Reader Setup Files is not a good entry. By removing these files you also prevent installing updates as well as doing a repair installation.

    I can confirm this behaviour for the latest update (10.1.3). It's ridiculous that also the full installer wants those files and refuses the installation without them. What was Adobe thinking?!

    The installation of the prior update worked flawless, so this problem couldn't have been foreseen.

  6. I'm back from my vacation. B) Thanks for the update. Following two suggestions are missed:

    Please change the following entry, because RegKey2 and 3 are included in winapp.ini of CCleaner now:

    [Windows Media Player (MediaGuide)*]

    LangSecRef=3023

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer

    Default=True

    RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences|CurrentBackgroundScanFolder

    RegKey2=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Services\MediaGuide|CachedIconPath

    RegKey3=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Services\MediaGuide|CachedLargeLogoPath

    I think you can remove the following entry, because RegKey and FileKey are included in winapp.ini of CCleaner (for Office 2003, 2007 and 2010):

    [MS Office Temp Files*]

    LangSecRef=3021

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office

    Default=False

    RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common|FontBmpCache

    FileKey1=%AppData%\Microsoft\Office|*.tmp|RECURSE

    And between the entries [Windows Log Files More*] and [Windows Mail*] is no blank line.

    RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences|CurrentBackgroundScanFolder

    RegKey2=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Services\MediaGuide|CachedIconPath

    RegKey3=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Services\MediaGuide|CachedLargeLogoPath

    Default=False

    RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common|FontBmpCache

    FileKey1=%AppData%\Microsoft\Office|*.tmp|RECURSE

    Thanks!

    I'm not sure if all winapp2.ini users will agree, but following entries could possibly be changed or removed. Comments are welcome.

    Remove - FileKey included in winsys.ini [Windows Log Files]:

    [.NET Framework Logs*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    Detect=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%WinDir%\Microsoft.NET|*.log|RECURSE

    Remove - FileKey included in winsys.ini :

    [Cached WPF Fonts*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    DetectFile=%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local|*.dat

    ExcludeKey1=FILE|%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local|lastalive0.dat

    ExcludeKey2=FILE|%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local|lastalive1.dat

    Change - FileKey2 included in winsys.ini [Windows Log Files]:

    [Diagnostics Logs*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    DetectFile=%WinDir%\debug

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%WinDir%\debug\WIA|wiatrace.log

    FileKey2=%WinDir%\debug|PASSWD.log

    Remove - FileKey included in winsys.ini [Windows Log Files]:

    [Malicious Software Removal Tool*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    DetectFile=%WinDir%\debug

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%WinDir%\debug|mrt.log

    Change - FileKey1 included in winsys.ini [Other Explorer MRUs]:

    [MS Direct 3D MRU*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    Detect=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DirectDraw

    Default=False

    RegKey1=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DirectDraw\MostRecentApplication

    RegKey2=HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw\MostRecentApplication

    RegKey3=HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Direct3D\MostRecentApplication

    Change - FileKey2 included in winsys.ini [Windows Log Files]:

    [Windows Update Logs*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    DetectFile=%WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs|*.*

    FileKey2=%WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution|ReportingEvents.log

  8. It was not working for me on a Windows 7 64-bit system. It works fine on a 32-bit system.

    Good to know, thanks. I thought CC64 checks and deletes both paths (with and without "Wow6432Node"). With this new knowledge we should check the other winapp2.ini entries which include "RegKey".

  9. Alternatively, perhaps you just want to REMOVE all comments, in which case you need the command

    find /V ";" < winapp2.ini > no-comment.txt

    That too is easy, but it hits every user with an extra 181 kByte file, or yet another option to (S)kip

    Thank you very much for your fast reply. Yes, I just want to remove all my comments before I trim the winapp2.ini. I'm happy with the command line command, so you do not have to add it to your official Trim.bat version. Thanks again! :)

  10. Thanks. Here you go I changed 20 of them from the DetectFile to Detect. In My testing they all appeared to detect without issue.Two entries appears to be dupes of APMichael above ignore those :-)

    I would prefer for the entry [MS Office Help Cache*] this Detect line: Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\HelpViewer

    This one is 100% safe.

    Or maybe this: Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0

    Because older versions of MS Office doesn't have the new HelpViewer.

  11. I'm not sure, but I think if you have more than one Detect line you have to use Detect1 and Detect2.

    [Visual Studio Backup*]

    LangSecRef=3021

    DetectFile=%Documents%\Visual Studio 2005

    Detect1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0

    Detect2=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0

    Default=false

    FileKey1=%Documents%\Visual Studio 2005\Backup Files|*.*|RECURSE

    FileKey2=%Documents%\Visual Studio 2008\Backup Files|*.*|RECURSE

    FileKey3=%Documents%\Visual Studio 2010\Backup Files|*.*|RECURSE

  12. Changed all my entries from DetectFile to Detect. Here are the new Detect lines:

    [3ware 3DM2*]

    Detect=HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\3ware\3DM2

    [Adobe Reader 10.0 Setup Files*]

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0

    [Apple Installer Cache*]

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.

    [brother Printer Debug Logs*]

    Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Brother\BrUtilities

    [Citrix Online Plug-in Web Setup Files*]

    Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ICA Client

    [DVBViewer*]

    Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\CM&V\DVBViewer

    [DVBViewer Setup Files*]

    Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\CM&V\DVBViewer

    [Dyn Updater*]

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Dyn Updater

    [ElsterFormular*]

    Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Landesfinanzdirektion Thüringen\ElsterFormular

    [Malwarebytes Anti Malware Setup File*]

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

    [MS Office Help Cache*]

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\HelpViewer

    [sun Java Setup Files*]

    Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment

  13. Following entries don't get detected using HKCU. Can you change them to HKLM, please?

    [ASP.NET*]
    LangSecRef=3025
    Detect=HKCU\Software\MicroSoft\ASP.NET
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%WinDir%\Microsoft.net\Framework\*\Temporary ASP.NET Files|*.*|RECURSE
    FileKey2=%WinDir%\Microsoft.net\Framework64\*\Temporary ASP.NET Files|*.*|RECURSE

    [FileZilla Temps*]
    LangSecRef=3022
    Detect=HKCU\Software\FileZilla Client
    Default=False
