    I am also having problems with my mail and Office accounts.

    Unfortunately, you don't write what kind of problems you have with the accounts. If you have to log in every time, please untick the following cleanup rules:

    Windows > Windows Explorer > [Network Passwords]
    Applications > Windows > [Windows Credential Manager Saved Credentials *]

  2. The problem has not been fixed in the current version 6.12.10490!

    Procedure to repoduce the problem:
    - Run "sfc /scannow" and make sure that no integrity violations were found.
    - Now launch CCleaner and run the cleanup rule [Retail Demo Offline Content].
    - Run "sfc /scannow" again and it will now find corrupted files.

    The following entries can be found in the CBS.log:

  3. The entries with an asterisk (*) are from the Winapp2.ini file, these clean up more files than the entries built directly into CCleaner. Therefore, it may happen that an entry built into CCleaner does not find anything to clean, but the entry from the Winapp2.ini file does.

    The entries for Google Chrome were not reduced, you probably miss the many additional entries of the Winapp2.ini file.

  4. The cleanup rule [Retail Demo Offline Content] was unfortunately not tested properly once again...

    The deletion of the files under "C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.CloudExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\RetailDemo\" detects "sfc /scannow" as a corruption and therefore restores these files with a repair.

    However, a cleanup rule of CCleaner should not cause such a "corruption" under any circumstances.

    Can the date be added to winapp2.ini to know exactly when it was updated/released instead of it just being clandestinely the version number? ...

    JFYI: The version number is equal to the release date (230316 = 2023-03-16 = March 16, 2023).

  6. @Winapp2.ini Another problematic side effect from merging: All [... Cookies *] entries for the different browsers delete the stored passwords, because they delete the file "Login Data"! A separate entry is urgently required here in each case. Thanks in advance.

    I had time for some tests first today, but I can't reproduce the mentioned problem. No dialog box with this message appears for me. A CCleaner started via the command line or the task scheduler runs through without any problems! (Tested in a user account without administrator privileges.)

    Could it be that you are trying to run CCleaner not elevated - in a user account with administrator privileges? Can you please describe your procedure in more detail and maybe attach a screenshot of the dialog box? Thank you!

    Sorry for my hasty comment without having reproduced the problem first.

    Thank you for bringing this to attention.

    Unbelievable that something is constantly being changed at CCleaner without thinking about possible consequences. 👎 I hope this will be corrected as soon as possible, either as a setting or with a command line parameter.

    The new Winapp2.ini release does not appear to include any of the recently posted changes on this forum.  Does that mean they are rejected or what?

    It was just a hot fix for the [Windows Temporary Files *] entry, as this one causes serious problems:

    The entry not only cleaned up the temp folders, but also deleted the temp folders themselves. However, the new temp folders automatically recreated by Windows then no longer have their original permissions and owners.

    ... And have run CCleaner several times and have been able to install applications without Error 2203.

    Before Error 2203 would always come up and even after trying sfc /scannow, changing permissions and even doing a full Windows feature upgrade, I could not resolve the error.

    Thank you for your confirmation that this is causing the problems. Unfortunately, Windows' self-healing capabilities are in great need of improvement. Microsoft should definitely improve SFC!

  10. I can confirm that CCleaner starts the TeamViewer service after cleaning TeamViewer!

    This has the following reason: the log files are locked when the TeamViewer service is running. In the latest version, CCleaner now stops the TeamViewer service, deletes the log files and restarts the TeamViewer service again.

    It would be smarter if CCleaner would check beforehand whether the TeamViewer service is running at all, and if not, then not start it after the cleanup.

    ... I am taking note of the conflicts that arise with CCleaner, but for now most of the conflicting changes (ie. where ccleaner and winapp2.ini both target the same thing) will remain in place, as I am no intentionally longer avoiding these collisions.

    edit: of course, if something is a problem and not merely a conflict with CCleaner, I am trying to be proactive as well...

    Thank you for your reply. Ok, for me this is no problem in principle, if there are overlaps with CCleaner's built-in cleanup rules.

    To fix the possible problems with the entry [Windows Temporary Files *], it should probably also be sufficient to replace all REMOVESELF with RECURSE.

    In Winapp2.ini 20230301 there is:

    [Windows Temporary Files *]
    LangSecRef=3025
    Detect=HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows
    FileKey1=%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\LocalService*\Local Settings\Temp|*|RECURSE
    FileKey2=%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\NetworkService*\Local Settings\Temp|*|RECURSE
    FileKey3=%Temp%|*|REMOVESELF
    FileKey4=%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\*\AppData\Local\Temp|*|REMOVESELF
    FileKey5=%WinDir%\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Temp|*|REMOVESELF
    FileKey6=%WinDir%\System32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temp|*|REMOVESELF
    FileKey7=%WinDir%\SystemTemp|*|REMOVESELF
    FileKey8=%WinDir%\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Temp|*|REMOVESELF
    FileKey9=%WinDir%\TEMP|*|REMOVESELF

    Filekey3 will remove everything from the %Temp% folder.  This can affect running, active applications.  CCleaner already cleans this folder (System->Temporary Files) for files older than 24h by default or can clean it fully if the user changes the setting. ...

    I would also suggest that FileKey3 and especially FileKey9 should be removed as they are already cleaned up by CCleaner and other cleaning tools. In addition, the various Windows-owned Temp folders should not be removed using REMOVESELF, but only cleaned up using RECURSE. Otherwise, permission problems may occur here, as probably reported here: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/64368-windows-installer-error-code2203-in-v60910300-winapp2ini-230301-win1122h2/.
