What do i need to EXCLUDE so that when i run [Skype for Desktop], [Skype]  it will remember my login information so it works after I reboot or whatever?

I did a short check with "Skype for Desktop", but the problem didn't occur. Does automatic login work after a reboot if you don't run CCleaner before?

Thank you for your answer. I've checked it and you need to add folder C:\Users\%USERDATA%\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles to exclusions :)

I think you mean "C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\". This excludes the entire Thunderbird cache folder. Strange, because Thunderbird should not store any settings in the cache.

I guess the responsible CCleaner entry is [Thunderbird - Internet Cache]. So you can also just disable this entry instead of excluding the folder.

... What do I need to add to exceptions to not reset my Mozilla Thunderbird settings every month when CCleaner runs an autoclean? The only one setting I've done to one of my e-mail accounts in Thunderbird is to save all drafts on my Gmail account instead of saving them locally. This settings resets after every CCleaner cleanup ...

First the responsible CCleaner entry must be found: Simply right-click on the first Thunderbird entry and select "Clean <entry name>". Then run Thunderbird to see if the issue occurs. If not, continue with the next Thunderbird entry until the responsible CCleaner entry is found.

(Some built-in entries open and clean the databases directly instead of removing the files themselves. CCleaner unfortunately indicates that nothing has been removed even though the databases have been cleaned.)

  4. What I had forgotten about the topic: The "WebCache" is also partially cleaned by CCleaner. When you run "Internet Explorer - Temporary Internet Files", you see that the modification date of the database files changes. CCleaner tries to clean up the database itself. Therefore the "WebCache" was removed from the Winapp2.ini entry for some time. However, since CCleaner leaves some traces, "WebCache" has been added back to the Winapp2.ini entry.

On my systems there are also the "systemprofile" paths.

I think these locations belong to Microsoft Store. We need some more research. ...

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache ...

What I know is that the folder "WebCache" already exists much longer than the "Microsoft Store". The folder was already cleaned in the Winapp2.ini entry from the pre-Windows-8/8.1 time.

However, the Internet Explorer engine is strongly interlocked with the operating system. Many functions and programs that require Internet access use parts of this engine and thus also the "WebCache".

I would leave it as it is.

  6. I don't know any cleaning option that would delete the contents of your personal "Downloads" folder. CCleaner only deletes traces of downloads, not the downloaded files themselves.

The only tool I know and that really does this is the Windows own "Disk Cleanup" respectively "Storage Sense".

    https://www.howtogeek.com/403009/how-to-prevent-storage-sense-from-deleting-your-downloaded-files-on-windows-10/

Edit: Is it possible that you're using the Android version?

The changelogs used to be more specific about winapp and winsys changes. the best option is to diff the built in ini files between versions

Unfortunately, they mostly use SpecialKeys for browsers, so the changes are not visible in winapp.ini/winsys.ini. ☹️

(The latest update with the addition "recent searches in Microsoft Outlook" also uses a SpecialKey.)

I really wish that Piriform would let us know if they were implementing anything from the Winapp2.ini. The change logs are often not very detailed.

Thanks for pointing this out, I'll look into it when I get some time

JFYI: I didn't install Foxit Reader, so I simply added the two registry keys "Foxit Software\Foxit Reader" under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\".

Now you can run TRIM and the results will be as follows:

If the entry uses "Detect=HKLM\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader", Trim does not detect it (and trims it out).

Should these be added as ExcludeKey's to [Edge Internet Cache CC *]  ???

I do not think so, because this is a special case only for this one extension. (The extension possibly does not comply with the specifications for Chrome extensions?)

CCleaner's built-in entry has been removing these folders (HTML5 Storage) for a very long time now, without any issue reports.
