Am assuming there are no settings for the CC 'Duplicate Finder' to search for duplicate folders (ie with all identical subfolders and files) ?
Just trying to make sure am not missing something.
Thanks. -
Just tried download update to 559 via normal CCleaner link and it times out at https://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/?utm_source=ccleaner&utm_medium=revenue&utm_campaign=ccleaner_filehippo.
Looks like a big ad.
Went to https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds and it worked. -

Went back to 5.44 (and that worked) and now update 5.46 is being offered.
Anyone know if that has fixed the problem ? -
Seems (ccsetup544.exe) to be the simplest way to 'wait' until its 'fixed'. None of the other suggestions worked here. Not ready to try regedit. Any ideas on how/when to know it has been 'fixed' ?

Starts to save to PC and then stops.
Firefox download error message... 'ccsetup505.exe, Failed -FileHippo.com'.
Thoughts ?

Thanks for the info.
Actually, the same UFEs show up the next time I scan, within minutes of the 1st scan when they were 'excluded'.
They must regenerate themselves automatically or something ?
Guess will just wait and see
Those will show up, always after applying the monthly Microsoft Updates on my system. I personally let CCleaner nuke them without having any issues (as of yet).

Thank you for the reply.
Followed your link/s.
The unused file extension shows up on the Options/Exclude list, but it also keeps showing up on all registry scans after 'excluded' per image attached.
Like said, no big deal, will just ignore the occurence, just thought it was a wierd thing to happen when using Ccleaner.
please read my signature, I it you'll read why this happens
add the extension to your exclude list

Unused File Extension urn:content-classes:wizard/addcontentclass HKCR\urn:content-classes:wizard/addcontentclass
Continually appears after registry scan, always right-click and add to 'Add to Exclude list', and again reappears.
No big deal, just curious why this particular unused file extension keeps reappearing after add to exclude list ?

Thank you for the replies.
Well, at least CC still notifies me when an update is available... so I just go to the CC 'version history' page and download from there.
But still no connection from 'check for updates'.
Not sure where to look for 'redirection'... IE 'tools' ?
Also not familiar with 'toggle an option box'... where to look ?
ccleaner.dot com uses redirection, maybe redirection is turned of in you browser?
Sometimes I click on a link and Windows disobeys me,
and when I examine the properties of the file I wanted to use I am told it came from another computer (because I downloaded it).
I then have to toggle an option box to indicate that I trust it.
Then my click is obeyed.

CCleaner links (shown below) at main window are not working.
CCleaner.com
Check for updates...
Online Help
When click on, nothing happens.
Also, links on email from http://forum.piriform.com/index.php not working.
Just started in last few days.
No problem opening CCleaner.com directly with browser.
Tried remove/re-install of CCleaner, no luck.
Where to look for fix ?
-
Yes it's different it isn't the official online documentation.
If you want a PDF of the online manual you'll need to use a free online PDF converter that converts sites/pages to PDF, or you could just use "File->Save As-> HTML Complete or Single Web File" in your web browser to browse the docs offline.
Thank you for the reply and info.
Was hoping we wouldnt need to go to each topic/subtopic and save/print as a PDF.
But at least there is something to 'save as'.
Thanks again.

Thank you all for the replies and info/comments.
Guess (key word) my main question is... how/where (or is it even possible) to determine if an 'unused registry key' (and any of the other ccleaner registry fixes) is ok to 'fix' ?
Main objective is to try run the D830 laptop as clean and mean as possible... its getting a bit old, 4yrs, but has new HD and motherboard.
Do all the sfc, chkdsk, viruscan, ccleaner, & defrag b4 a Acronis10 full monthly (with incremental backups bi-weekly) backup.
Latest problem/s seems to be an occasional 'memory dump' during startup.
Not sure if ccleaner can help with that.
Thoughts on any of above ?
-
The registry scan brought up 'Unused registry key / .ht\OpenWithList / HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.ht\OpenWithList.
Just wondering if ALL 'Unused registry keys' are ok to 'fix', and/or how to determine if ?
Ps:
Any way to get a PDF of the complete 'manual' at http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner ?

Is this any different than the the 'manual' at http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner ?
Sidebar... is it possible to get a PDF of that online 'manual'.
