MILES

Hi, First of all I really appreciate using your program. My problem relates to what could have caused my network and internet connection to be terminated after using your cc1.30, both repairing issues and two cleaning modules. I run win xp without sp2, however, use many spyware, adware, registrry boosters, and sytem mechanic. I also optimize and defrag my hard drive daily and keep all antiviral definitions updated regularly as I do with the malware programs. My default browser is Firefox and Thunderbird as the mail client. I have a Cox Cable 650KB/sec. broadband modem connected to a wired router and then to each of the 3 worstation computers in my network. One day last week after running all my utilities, CC1.30 being the latest and newest addition, upon rebooting, I noticed that the winXP computer which it whad been running on took an inordinate amount of time rebooting compared to normal. I had used your program before without this or any difficulties. As my computer struggled booting, I saw error messages in the left lower task bar that none of the network drives could be identified nor did I have access to the internet!! This had never happened before with any of these previously mentioned utilities. I use AVG as the AV program run and updated daily. I immediately went to your program and restored the the backup as I did to all others. I rebooted and the same thing happened. I scanned for viruses and malware and all was clean. I then tried to use a restore point from 2 days earlier and got the same slow boot without network or network drives found. I finally fooled around and got things back in some original order by mapping my hard drive again and reinstalling my network interphase card and software from control panel. Everything works the same except my hard drive on this computer got a different assigned name, however, the internet FF, TB and other network drives were all accessible. Since then, without consulting you, I have been reluctant to reuse cc1.30 or my other cleaning programs like System Mechanic. I have continued with AVG, off course. Can you offer me any explanation as to what happened? I use a UPS, so I know it was not a power drop. I was told that using the cleaning programs that I use is safe together and I know of none that would disconnect my network. I ask for your help and support with reassurance that I can begin running all my programs again which had never caused this problem before. Any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated. When I cleaned the issues area, a backup was made for me. So I went ahead and cleaned the application area and no backup was offered. Is there a spot where the application cleaning and file deletion can be found in case there is something that should not have been removed from my application area? Thank youy, Miles

Thanks, HUMPTY I think all my scanners that remove files make backups in case a file that is needed gets removed. Maybe all these files from the many scanners I use are what CCleaner is trying to delete in its analysis!! I bet you are right. Miles Thank you, lokoike I appreciate your welcome and advice. Hi, I have a Win Xp Home,Pentium 4 , 2.4 ghz cpu, 512 mb ram, and two 80 gb Hard Drives Computer in a 3 computer wired network with a dsl modem and Linksys router. I use and daily update the following programs to insure all is well, clean and the computer runs well, like new: Adware Se, Spybot S & D, System Mechanic, P C Medic, AvG Anti Viral, Cleancache, and Bug Doctor. The computer is 3 years old and a generic brand. My question and concern are as follows: After running all these programs and deleting all unecessary registry entries, pointless files and shortcuts, emptying the caches, etc. Your program after scanning and analyzing found over 3 gb of useless files and registry entries, obviously missed by all my thorough cleaning daily with updated definitions and current components for these programs!!! Over 3,00 files were scanned and ready for deletion with your highly reputable program. I'm wondering why my programs missed all this and will removing all these "bad files and junk" found by your program in any way crash my hard drive, or jeopordize my system? Also, besides backing up the registry, after your program cleans it, allowing me to restore it if something was removed that was needed, does it also make a backup for all the other files deleted fom the general cleanup, should they be necessary to restore? I really want to use your free and excellent, well rated program, however, as you might imagine from my paranoia, I am concerned regarding the questions you may be able to answer d explain and clarify to my novice status.
