  5. thanks for the logs the development team reads all threads yet rarely comment.

edit: I missed the part about no dump file

did you enter your email in that crash dialog?

yes i did it twice but cant be sure it went anywhere as I have never had any comments about Speccy exiting for the last 4-5 versions

the last working version for me was 1.13.276

if i run v1.13.276 in debug all box's ticked i get this text file

  7. caveats like that aren't usually done.. when cleaning the registry, you should only remove found entries that you know you don't need anymore. NOT everything found.

    please see my signature.

as for the cleaning section, you can exclude files from the clean by right clicking the entry in the analysis.

most people who have silverlight aren't using or paying attention to it, and would appreciate that ccleaner removes the junk left behind by random sites which use the plugin.

sorry i was only making a suggestion

i have worked since 1962 on computers and understand that they fragile to say the least.

it has been very frustrating trying to get a product being told uninstal silverlight fit old version then update to latest skygo

remove all versions and start again.

even been told to remove a folder in program data/microsoft//playready that a admin user did not have permissions to delete (was set to network operators or something) get very informative errors such as t6205-c1501 and t6000-c1501 which led to sky forums and the way the skygo product works (not very elegant design to use silverlight and ccleaner touching the cache destroys everything)

I was only suggesting that by default do not set silverlight box as ticked to save frustrations of ccleaner users trying to solve problems with sky £$%^ software not dreaming it is due to the way the product uses silverlight in a way it was not designed for

i put all the piriform products on every desktop / laptop that i fix or tune-up which must amount to about 20 this year alone and never had a problem with ccleaner up till now

ps problem i reported on speccy on my 6gig me windows7 laptop where it exits has never been fixed and still waiting for a solution

  8. Hi I have been trying to use SkyGo since February with no success and only stumbled on a sky forum blaming silverlight, silverlight blaming ccleaner

I think the solution is for ccleaner to change the default option to not clear Silverlight in the application settings.

I have used CCleaner as long as I can remember and have never even clicked the applications Tab before

    ==================================================================================

People who use the registry cleaner Ccleaner and also use Sky Go, Please ensure that you change the settings on Ccleaner to ensure it doesn’t remove application storage from Silverlight.

As many users are aware, if you allow Ccleaner to run without unchecking the Microsoft Silverlight option in the settings, the next time you open up Sky Go Desktop it will register as a new device. So if you scan you system twice in a month then you will have to wait the calendar month in order to start viewing again. As the systems will think you have registered 2 devices.

To fix this error and not be unfortunate like many other users of Ccleaner and Sky Go. Follow the steps below.

    • Open Ccleaner
    • Click on Applications
    • In the multimedia box, Uncheck Microsoft Silverlight.

    but at least it works

next version Crashes and produces dump (2 sent but no replies)

    and later versions just exit

have reported all problems but no help from anyone

  11. Thanks again. A new version on SPC will be ready for release in a few days :)

Hi I have reported that the latest version now has a dialog box and exits and debug does not even work at all? suspect it is exiting before starting but no one has aked me to try anything out see my entry under latest version only good point is it works on desktop version about 4 releases ago did work so it is due to one of the changes that has been made

  12. I had trouble with the previous version not working if "hard drive" was selected in debug, but this version won't go beyond the window where you select what is to be analysed. No matter which I choose, it then does nothing. (the window disappears then nothing happens).

After a few attempts there are several instances of "Speccy" in task manager. All the logs are completely blank.

(Speccy in normal mode freezes just after finding the OS version)

Hope you can find the bug!

    Regards,

    Mike

Win Vista 32, 3Gb RAM, AMD Turion X2 mobile 2.20 GHz, HP laptop.

I have reported the same problem but found that if all box's tixed it almost works but does not produce a dump either as the program does terminate before starting?

see http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=35344 maybe you see the error message i also get in the log file

  13. latest version gets so far and now brings up dialog box on windows7 laptop

The same version on my Windows7 Desktop works o/k and the same message about newtreenetwork.cpp also appears so that may not be the cause of the unexpected exit.

The dialog box information has been sent twice

Have uninstalled 64 bit version and re-installed still the same

For some reason debug does not work now as before.

Debug starts log file 0 bytes tried ticking various box's same symtom no windows starts up just shows in task manager no cpu or i/o just hanging?

running taskmanager shows no cpu usage see speccy picture.jpg have to kill process

maybe due to new error interface being responsible

but if you run again with all box's ticked get this text file now

The StartUp tool in CCleaner's latest version 3.13.1600 seems to be buggy and always causes CCleaner to hang and then in few seconds prompting to close. Initially, I assumed that there might have occurred some unnoticed error while downloading/installing, but then it happened after each of the 3 more re-download+installs that I made.

This didn't happen when some time ago, I used to run an older version of CCleaner. Now please I don't want to be advised like why don't I continue with the previous version or anything of that sort because my PC is fully compatible for taking advantage of all its functionality.

I have the same problem with version 1600 the rest of the tools seem to work o/k

unlike the speccy problem it just hangs using no cpu time

ran in debug mode and also attaching details of problem when killed in task manager

also latest ccleaner also fails if there is a neww or changed dll with startup items if that helps have reverted ccleaner back but left speccy with duff version for now

defraggler does not seem to have a problem

  20. Hi

i wanted to defrag a usb flash drive recently and defraggler indicated i had such small space it would take forever.

it did and at the end i still had loads of fragmented files.

i know i could have moved them manually to a hard drive and rebuilt it but maybe a option could be say to allow a setting such as tempory swap file location.

this would enable defraggler to say selct the biggest fragmented file or more than 1 move them to a hard drive consolidate the free space and then move the files back and delete from the swap file (or leave)

I think this would provide a usefull feature.

ps i recently had a problem with the defraag files at boot time that if you suspended the xp laptop at boot time it said a serious problem had occured took a dump and restarted again from scratch removing the boot time defrag solved the problem.

    Regards

    ken
