  1. Since I installed the Fall Creators update my passwords are not clearing and I remain logged into websites when I run CCleaner and delete saved passwords in IE. Obviously some cookies aren't clearing either because when I delete them using CCleaner as well as deleting manually in IE my visited websites appear as adverts on web pages I visit. Not very helpful when I am looking for Christmas presents for my wife that I don't want her to know about. Before the update I didn't have any problems at all. On Microsoft Answers it has been suggested that I should report this to Microsoft as a bug. Before I do that has anyone else updated and experienced any problems please?
  2. Thank you, but I have unwanted Chrome now and as you say it is a pain to remove. I have had a trawl around the internet and my view is that once you are in a hole, stop digging.
  3. Thank you, I have now found Chrome in Applications. This happened a few years ago and when I removed Chrome it completely messed up Office Outlook and that involved another trawl through the forums to get it sorted. These people (I haven't had this problem with Piriform before) should have an opt in not opt out. I am the world's worst techie so don't want to get involved with Portable or Slim. Thanks for your replies.
  4. I have just updated CCleaner and downloaded Google Chrome that I definitely did not want. I must have missed an uncheck box. I do wish these people wouldn't do this. Anyway I now have Chrome. But, why does Chrome not appear in CCleaner, IE and Edge are there but not Chrome. Any thoughts please?
  5. Yes, I bought a new computer at the end of September and re-installed CC but didn't realise I had done an intelligent scan. Yes I did know that an asterisk is a wild card. I am sorry I am being a bit slow on the uptake here. I'm what you might call a silver surfer! Anyway thanks for your help, appreciated.
  6. This is a mystery. I have not initiated an intelligent scan and I wasn't aware that there were any cookies in "Cookies to Keep" until I looked. I haven't signed into Facebook for about five years, I do not subscribe to Twitter and I haven't used Yahoo for years either. Login.live is something to do with a Microsoft Account but I only registered with that last month. I don't know why Piriform includes an asterisk. Apart from Piriform all these cookies appear in the Intelligent Scan list but how they got into "Cookies to Keep" is a mystery. I will clear most of them out. Many thanks for your reply.
  7. When I run CCleaner some cookies are not being deleted. I have discovered that these are in Options/Cookies/Cookies to keep. They are: piriform (with *), facebook, google, login.live, twitter and yahoo. I did not put these in "Cookies to Keep" so how have they got there? Are they there for a reason? To get rid of them do I just click the arrow facing left? Any help please.
  8. Thank you for your replies. I use Norton so it might be updating but, twice now, I have checked Task Manager and IE has not been running and I have not been prompted to close IE. In future when I use CCleaner I will check Task Manager first and see what happens.
  9. Thank you Willy2. There is no sign of IE in Task Manager and nothing seems to be running at all.
  10. Thank you very much for that, the only problem is that when I analyze IE is closed but still tells me that IE needs to be closed when it already is closed!
  11. For a number of CCleaner updates now, when I click "Analyze", I am told that "Internet Explorer needs to be closed to clear cookies". The point is that IE is already closed so why do I get this message? I have Win 10 and IE 11. Any help please?
  12. Thanks DennisD, I have found that and will look into it. Judesman.
  13. Thanks DennisD, I will have a look at this. I am pleased to say that my original query seems to have been resolved so thanks to all. I am not sure why the delete option in IE 8 does not delete all the cookies but not to worry. Judesman.
  14. Thank you Norel and Nergal for your replies. That is appreciated. Nergal, your first link to Topic 15307 is a bit of a mystery to me as I am not much of a techie however the second link to the Documentation is just what I was looking for. Some explanation of what CCleaner is all about. Perhaps the link to this should be a little clearer on the website. Anyway I am very grateful. Judesman.
  15. Hi andypryce and DennisD. Thank you for your replies. I am using version 2.29.1111 and it sounds as though I should stick with it for the time being although it is not up to date. I have ticked Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Flash Player under Applications and all the Cookies have now been deleted in Options. So that has resolved that although it doesn't explain why all the Cookies are not deleted when deleting in Internet Explorer. DennisD, I did not have any boxes ticked under Applications as, to be honest, I did not know what applying CCleaner to this section would do. I can't find much information about this anywhere so some help would be appreciated. I am using Win7 and IE 8. Many thanks.
  16. I can delete cookies in Tools/Internet Options/Delete Browsing History. I can also delete cookies in CCleaner/Internet Explorer/(Tick the Cookies Box). But if I go to CCleaner/Options/Cookies there is a whole list of Cookies still there under a heading "Cookies to Delete". So why are these Cookies not being deleted when I run CCleaner or for that matter when I delete cookies in Internet Explorer? Can anyone help please?
