    cookies

I guess this is not, strictly speaking, a reply but I don't know where else to post it and it might be useful to someone. I had a brainwave and I copied and pasted the URL into I.E. and opened it there. After closing I was delighted to find a cookie in CCeaner which I transferred to the right-hand pane to save.I closed down my PC and when I rebooted, the cookie was saved in Firefox (though the History had been cleared)and I was able to visit the website. I've shut down twice since and each time the History and other cookies are cleared but the cookie I need is saved in Firefox - because it is in CCleaner. So full marks CCleaner! But if there is an IT genius reading this I would love to know why CCleaner doesn't "pick up" cookies from Firefox as it does from I.E. Firefox is widely used now so please - can anything be done. Even if not, many thanks for four fantastic little helpers - CCleaner, Defraggler, Speccy and Recuva. My PC had to be rebuilt last week and I couldn't find the ID for Windows installation. There it was in Speccy. A grand-daughter was distraught last summer when she lost four hours course-work required for A levels. I introduced her to Recuva and she recovered the lot. (It took a very long time) As someone from Piriform says - Huge thanks.

    cookies

I want, and need, to save some cookies. They are not appearing in the left pane of CCleaner. I think they stopped after the update before the most recent. It seems to me,though, that every other cookie does appear- the list is very long. Firefox saves cookies and "save till they expire" is ticked. But I have also ticked "clear history when browser closes" and my cookies are part of that I guess. So I need to save them in CCleaner - which I have done for several years. Any help will be greatly appreciated and thank you advance.
  3. Yes to your first question - scans every morning No to your second cache cleaned every morning. I have had no problems with other downloads/links. Obviously that was the first thing I looked at. When I find out what the problem is I'll let you know, if I may. It seems as if no one else has it at the moment but sooner or later..... Thanks again
  4. I.E -Page cannot be found. Firefox - same message. I have been using Firefox long before I had any Piriform products (which, incidentally, I think are super) I downloaded quite a large file- image editing software at the weekend with no problem. I was considering uninstalling CCleaner & Defraggler and downloading from scratch. If you think that's worth a shot I would back up on a flash drive first. I don't want to be without them while this is being sorted. Any chance of one of the techies helping us out?? Thank you for your help
  5. Firefox -always have done and never had problems
  6. Earlier this week when I launched Defraggler I was told about a new version ready for downloading.Repeated efforts over several days, from filehippo and other sites, have been in vain It has not downloaded. About an hour ago an e-mail from Piriform invited me to update CCleaner. Exactly the same result. The only option one gets is to save the file (or cancel) and the exe file is not being saved. I e-mailed them after the Defraggler episode but have not had a reply. Is anyone else having the same problem and/or have any solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have Windows XP pro. Many thanks

    Full marks -Recuva

At 10pm last Thursday my grandaughter phoned me , very stressed out as she said. She had "joggled" her flash drive (by accident)and lost hours of A-level course work. Windows was giving her lots of error messages-file not recognised; couldn't be opened, &c &c. Searching her temporary files yeilded nothing so she phoned me. I told her about Recuva. She phoned me again (at a more sociable hour) next day. She was one happy girl! It had taken her two and a half hours but she recovered her course work. I introduced her to CCleaner and Defraggler. Thank you Piriform people
