  1. If that was actually the case, Opera wouldn't be capable of running on phones. The fact is Opera has very intelligent memory usage - other browsers but a hard cap on memory usage, meaning they will tend to score better in artificial memory comparison tests. Opera instead dynamically adapts to your system - if you happen to have 6GB of RAM, Opera will use a crap-load of memory. If you don't have much RAM, it will run nicely with a very low footprint.
  2. Wow. What a massive overreaction of a thread. FYI: When you visit a website that's not in that list, and click on a Unite app download, Opera gives you a great big warning, and insists that you add that site to the exceptions list before it allows you to download the file from the previously un-trusted site. When you visit one of the sites listed there (all on *.opera.com) it DOES NOT give the site the ability to install anything silently behind your back or any such nonsense - it simply means that when you click the install button, you get an actual install dialogue and not a big fat scary warning blocking the install dialogue. For anyone familiar with Firefox, it has exactly the same system for its extensions - ever tried installing an extension from somewhere other than addons.mozilla.org?
  3. I see there's an option in CCleaner to do this for Firefox and Chrome (and a request here to do it for Thunderbird) - I'm wondering if there are any particular reasons this isn't done for Opera? They appear to be stored under {{profile}}/pstorage/02/ or some such - detailed at opera:webdatabases
