  1. Thank you "TairikuOkami" from TenForums at https://www.tenforums.com/ That did the trick! Although I didn't find ntp.msn.com, I did find these: assets.msn.com (cookie to keep icons for pinned URLs) and msn.com (cookie to keep MS Edge's preferences). I have successfully added these to CCleaner's Exemption list and the problem is solved!
  2. When I run CCleaner with Cookies enabled, it causes a performance issue with Microsoft Edge. In Edge, opening a new tab causes an privacy agreement pop-up to occur, this agreement is saved as a cookie, so each time CCleaner is run, that particular cookie is wiped causing the message to reappear. I would very much like to know if anyone knows "What" specific cookie can be added to CCleaner's Exclude list.
  3. Update: It's been over 10 hours now and the Microsoft Privacy message has not returned. Keeping the cookies (in my previous post) seems to have done the trick. I don't know which cookie stores the MS Privacy settings, so I'm keeping them all.
  4. Thank you for that hazelnut. I did come across that article before, but it didn't help in my case. I can open and close Edge many times without the message appearing, until I run CCleaner, then the message returns. I think I may have found a solution to this issue by poking around Options>Cookies>Cookies to keep: Cookie: c.msn.com Cookie: c.bing.com Cookie: bing.com Cookie: msn.com Cookie: api.msn.com Cookie: assets.msn.com Cookie: ntp.msn.com Cookie: scorecardresearch.com The issue appears to be gone... for now.
  5. I recently started getting this popup (see attached pic) from Windows 10 Edge each time a new tab is opened. From what I can tell, this popup stores a cookie that saves this message's settings, but I think CCleaner wipes out that cookie. Does anyone know if this is true? and what cookie is it so I may add it to a Keep or whitelist in CCleaner. Thanks!
  6. Thanks "nukecad" your method did the trick! BTW, would you happen to know what setting in the CCleaner.ini file triggers the "CCleaner needs to close Edge Chromium" message?
  7. Thank you redwolfe_98, I will give that a try!
  8. Thanks for the replies. Disabling Edge from running in the background permanently isn't an option for me. I have other software running on my system that requires Live Tiles and Extensions to be running. My imperfect solution is to launch CCleaner using a batch:
  9. Problem: CCleaner fails to clean Microsoft's Edge Chromium because residual & child processes for Edge continue to run in the background. Workaround: My workaround involves running a batch script to end Edge's processes, but I would like to see CCleaner come out with a fix. This batch script needs to be run 'before' CCleaner to completely close Edge.
  10. Update: So the registry key I posted seems to only work until the next boot. Here is a permanent code that appears to work (until CCleaner updates itself) or until Piriform fixes their bug: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Piriform\CCleaner] "(Cfg)WelcomeScreen"="0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Piriform\CCleaner] "(Cfg)WelcomeScreen"=-
  11. Thank you nukecad for clarifying about posting executables. I hope this rewrite better serves the forums. To all others that wish to have the .reg file for yourselves, here's how to make it. 1) Open Notepad 2) Paste the following lines into Notepad Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Piriform\CCleaner] "(Cfg)WelcomeScreen"="0" 3) In Notepad, goto File and Save As... 4) In File name: Remove Welcome back to CCleaner Screen.reg 5) In Save as type: All (*.*) You now have your own copy of the .reg file
  12. Recently my CCleaner has changed the startup screen. I had set CCleaner to open to the Custom Clean screen, but lately it has been opening up to a "Welcome back to CCleaner" screen. Executable file removed-Nukecad.
  13. 1) I would like to see a Run command added to CCleaner. Currently I use a batch program to run CCleaner before my PC shuts down, it calls the script: "tasklist | find /i "msedge.exe" && taskkill /im msedge.exe /f /t" so that Microsoft Edge (and all child processes are closed) so CCleaner can give Windows 10 a full cleaning. I think it would be amazing if there was an internal method of: "Run command before CCleaner starts" so I wouldn't have to rely on a batch program to do this. 2) Also, I made another suggestion in one of my previous posts (and the solution) to add a CCleaner icon to the Recycle Bin Context Menu. -- Those are my thoughts, thanks!
  14. I decided to take on the task myself. If anyone wants to add icons to their CCleaner program, I've included the registry keys and icon freely. Step 1) UnRaR the files to your Desktop Step 2) Copy the icon file name: "Open CCleaner....ico" to the folder: C:\Program Files\CCleaner Step 3) Right-click the "Open CCleaner....ico" and select Hidden (so you don't accidentally delete it) Step 4) Add the registry keys to Windows You will now have icons for CCleaner in your context menu when right-clicking on the Recycle Bin. ***ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES*** I also strongly suggest making a System Restore Point! CCleaner Icons.rar
  15. Hello all, I'm looking for assistance in adding the CCleaner 16x16.ico to the Recycle Bin Context Menu. I've done this before for other entries but cannot seem to find the right Regedit path for this one. Thanks.
  16. I am running CCleaner 5.77.8448 (64-bit) on Windows 10 x64 and cannot delete the following registry key (after scanning with Registry Cleaner): Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{265b1075-d22b-41eb-bc97-87568f3e6dab}] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{265b1075-d22b-41eb-bc97-87568f3e6dab}\LocalServer32] @="C:\\WINDOWS\\SysWOW64\\Speech_OneCore\\Common\\SpeechRuntime.exe -ToastNotifier" I would like to know if CCleaner has a more powerful method of deleting stubborn registry entries. I have tried using several tools: AdwCleaner, RegASSASSIN, RegistryDeleteEx64. None of these worked. Any help would be appreciated, thx.
  17. A response to Sn0wX. Thank you for your “colourful” input, albeit wrong. Registry editors have been around for decades now, and, used properly can restore lost performance in operating systems that get filled with clutter and dead file associations. I have been using registry editors since Microsoft Windows 98SE, and manually editing registries since Windows 3.11. Jumping to present day, I perform many custom mods and customizations to my OS’s and sometimes residual entries are inevitable. Registry cleaners are by no means a magic wand to cure OS ailments, but they certainly have advantages, especially when it comes to uninstalled third-party software/bloatware. Just recently I used nmregscrubpro to correct a file association error and associated icon error with multimedia types due to third-party webcam software. I strongly agree that novice users can cause irreparable damage to an OS, and I’m guessing you might fit into this category, but people such as myself who have been working/modding registries since the early 90’s rely on registry cleaners, especially when heavy usage is the case. Judging by your tone on your other posts, I strongly suggest you close your computer, go out for a smoke and perhaps find some other means to de-stress. Especially when your input is wrong. But keep smiling!
  18. It would be at shut down, just as CCleaner (and many other programs) run at shutdown via batch program. This is because my registry undergoes heavy changes each session and as a result, many registry entries have removed value data, invalid file extensions and missing file references. I currently use other registry cleaning software in addition to CCleaner, but if this process could be controller through command-line, it would negate the need for other programs. P.S. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64
  19. Currently I am using: start "" "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /AUTO /SHUTDOWN from a batch file, I would like a registry command-line option to be added, something like: start "" "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /SCANFIX So both, Scan for Issues; and Fix selected Issues... can be automated. start "" "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /SCANFIX start "" "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /AUTO /SHUTDOWN
  20. Thanks for the heads-up! I'll keep a lookout for the next release.
  21. Ever since version v.5.45.6611, when I right-click on my Windows 7 Recycle bin and select Run CCleaner, I see CCleaner running in the taskbar icon notification area for only 1 second, then it shuts down without emptying the Recycle Bin. I have to do this as much as 8 times for it to work. Does anyone else have this issue? Until this is resolved, I have gone back to v.5.44.6575.
  22. ...just a thought... CCleaner should add the option to show tooltips, albeit seasoned used would have no use for it, I believe many users could benefit from having this option.
  23. With each new release of CCleaner, more and more options are becoming available. It would be a good idea to have the option to Export Settings. That way, you could Backup your preferences (should CCleaner crash - as it has for me), or deploy your settings to multiple machines.
  24. With all due respect to change, sometimes change does not equate progress. If Piriform has chosen to proceed with the Windows 8 Metro look and leave Windows 7 users out-in-the-cold per say; why not just stop support for Windows 7 all-together? After-all, Windows 7 still makes up for more than 80% of Microsoft users world-wide. There is something to be said about the look and feel of a legacy gui, especially for those who are running older operating systems. I for one think that Piriform has come a long way and worked very hard to perfect it’s software, its just a shame that they seem to be ignoring something as simple and easy as A ) adding a classic gui option within the program; or B ) creating a legacy download link There are some other points on how CCleaner could be improved, but that is for another discussion.
