  2. I've always wondered: How does placing the pagefile on a separate partition affect performance? I understand the pagefile concept, but does having it on a separate location make a significant difference?
  3. How many users check off the 'Advanced' options? How many leave them alone? Personally, I delete everything except for the prefetch data, but that's another topic (one that's been dealt with extensively). But I've seen posts where admins/advanced users tell new users to leave the advanced section alone. It would be interesting to see how people deal with the advanced section, and the rationale behind their thoughts.
  4. I've noticed that when opening the uninstall list it takes several seconds to completely load on my system... but thanks to the Adobe CS4 Suite, I have a lot of programs, so that might have something to do with it. Then again, the same thing happens when I use Windows' Add/Remove function...
  5. ehcet- There are three small tabs below the blocks you mentioned. These are labeled "Drive %:" (where % is the name of your drive, in this case most likely C), "File list" and "Search". After you have defragged your drive, click on the "File list" tab. What files are listed? How big are they? How many fragments are they in?
  6. ehcet- Can you describe specifically what files are not being defragmented? What are the names of the files? How many fragments are they in? What is the size of the files?
  7. DoubleTap- As I recall, there has never been a way to hide drives from showing up in Defraggler. Unfortunately, the latest release doesn't seem to solve this problem either. A good talking point in the Suggestions thread, perhaps? Of course, I could be wrong. If there are more experienced users who can point me in the right direction, I would love to know how to fix this. I've used Defraggler for about 12 months now, but I can't ever remember being able make that kind of change. It's certainly a good talking point, though!
  8. Tess- The utilities files are typically log files that your anti-malware programs make during normal usage. You can safely delete these without adversely affecting your anti-malware programs or your system's operation. To avoid removing them, uncheck the box located in the "Applications" tab next to the main graphical interface. You can chose to delete or keep any file subset while operating CCleaner. The red X simply clears your search of the files to be deleted. Double-clicking any subject brings up a detailed list of the specific files marked for deletion; in the top right-hand corner there is a search function that allows you to quickly search for specific file names. Clicking the red X simply clears your search parameters. Hope that helps! If you have any more questions don't be afraid to ask
