  1. Lol, well nothing like throwing in a curve ball but I downloaded the latest UltraSurf (u95) and BAM my IE connects to the internet..but still something has to be wrong with IE. Also I forgot to add, I have tried upgrading to IE 8 : No Help Downgrading back to IE 7 : No help So now i'm just confused and frustrated! lol How come IE only connects to the internet when UltraSurf is running?!
  2. So funny little thing happened to my Printer Spooler and my printers keep vanishing, and Microsoft Support online led me to run a Diagnostic Test to fix this. The only problem is it only works on IE. So I rush over and open my slow-ass IE and to my surprise it doesn't connect. Now I haven't used IE in maybe 3 months, so I was a bit surprised. So I switch to the next best thing...Firefox. And again to my surprise Firefox doesn't connect to the Internet either. So I'm sitting at my desk completely confused and wondering why Google Chrome and Apple's Safari do connect to the internet, but IE and Firefox don't! The only things I could imagine that could have screwed up IE and Firefox is... 1) IEFix.exe by Prevx :: This was a little utility the registered/unregistered the oledb32.dll back around January when that huge IE loop-hole became present (Microsoft Security Advisory 961051). This utility is no longer available from their site, but I saved the exe on my pc, and about a month back when I was running through my pc seeing what to clean out I ran across it and ran it (not remebering what it was) and clicked "Restore OLEDB32.dll" (which all it does is restores back the dll, which already was restored because when Microsoft released the fix for it, I restored the dll. So really I don't see how it would have changed anything) 2) Ultra Surf :: Before my flashdrive got stolen I was really into going around my school's network restrictions and when I discovered Ultra Surf I tested it out on my PC. It worked fine and I don't think I screwed anything up in the settings, but what do i know lol! Anyway I haven't used UltraSurf since maybe May 2009, and I don't remember if IE worked fine after that or not. FYI :: ~ I tried resetting IE's settings many times - No Help ~ I tried manually restoring Oledb32.dll through CMD, thinking that maybe Prevx's tool didn't fully restore it - No Help ~ I don't have any viruses or crap like that : I am using "Windows Live OneCare" and know enough about computers to say this ~ VISTA HOME PREMIUM - Obviously that's no help lol ~ HP Pavilion Slimline s3100n : 1gb ram ~ Overall very healthy PC Other Things I've Tried ~ Calling Microsoft for IE issue - They said "Since I bought my HP with all the software pre-installed on it, I could only get assistance from HP. This made me furious, especially since I was calling about their stupid web browser! I kept hounding them, eventually they just hung up on me. I guess you can assume that after this I'm not gonna be with Microsoft for much longer. ~ Called HP - Gave me the "Run-Through" of dead-obvious reasons why it wouldn't connect. Finally she said the only other support they could give me was connecting me to Microsoft, at which point I threw my phone out the window and considered ways of killing Bill Gates & Bill Hewlett. And I know of all forums to post on, I chose Piriform's. But these guys actually make software that works! And from the posts I've read most get answered! 2 jobs that hp & microsoft can't accomplish! So please, someone out there has to know the solution!!! Cenya
