  1. This is not a problem as CCleaner seems to work just fine.....more of an observation. I'm operating with Win XP Home/ SP3. I have noticed this issue with several versions of CCleaner. I've been running CCleaner for few years, currently using v215.815 Upon Start Up, or whenever Re-booting the 'CCleaner ICON' appears in the notification tray as it should. However once CCleaner has completed it's process the ICON remains visible in the tray notification area. It will remain there forever, however if I move the mouse pointer over the ICON it vanishes. I don't have to click on the mouse, just slide the pointer over the ICON and poof it's gone. On the other hand if I RUN or OPEN CCleaner at anytime after the computer is up and running the ICON appears, flashes while the program is doing it's job and then disappears upon completion. I presume this to be normal. Why the ICON remains only after Start Up or Re-boot is a puzzler. If this subject has been discussed previously I appologize, this is my first posting in years. meandor
  2. If it hasn't been suggested before.. include a multi pass shredding tool option when files are cleaned. Great program, Thanks. meandor
  3. Spysnake, I don't know if this has anything to do with your situation regarding F-Secure. F-Secure uses a program called Back Web Lite for updating. If you're running programs such as SpyBot S & D, and AdAware you'll have a conflict. F-Secure advised me to remove both those programs. I had to reinstall F-Secure as SpyBot found a number of Back Web items in my system, I removed all the items, and afterwards found F-Secure was not updating. It was after this I was advised that F-Secure and few other Antispyware programs conflict. meandor
  4. I use Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 on my system, I know there are newer versions, they also use much more disk space, so I went back to v5.0. I noticed in CCleaner v1.24, and now in version 1.25, Adobe 5.0 does not show up in the Applications list, (possibly earlier versions as well, as I recently switched from the very slow loading Adobe 6.0 back to Adobe 5.0) I searched "CCleaner - winapp file and winnapp2", Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 is listed, so obviously it should show in Applications. In the "winapp file" the following is how Adobe 5.0 is listed: [Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\5.0\AVGeneral\cRecent Files Default=True RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\5.0\AVGeneral\cRecentFiles By changing this listing to: [Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\5.0\AVGeneral\ Default=True RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\5.0\AVGeneral\cRecentFiles I edited the line: Detect=HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\5.0\AVGeneral by deleting the term "cRecent Files" This small change solved the problem, Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 now appears in the Applications list. I noticed how Adobe 6.0/7.0 are listed in winapp and thought I would follow suit with 5.0. A minor problem but for those who still find 5.0 suitable for their needs, I thought I would point this out. CCleaner is an excellent program, I wouldn't be without it. Thanks meandor
  5. Sorry, I just found the answer (14 days) in the beginner help tutorial. meandor
  6. I've been using this option for sometime with no ill affects. My question is how often or how old are the Pre-fetch files before they're cleaned out by the program, i.e 1 or 2 weeks, months? If the time frame between cleanouts is listed in help or somewhere else I missed it. I don't have a problem, I'm just interested. Thanks. meandor
