I have an extensive collection of mp3 files, likely in the thousands. I would like a way to create a list, sorted by (1) genre, (2) artist, (3) album name, and finally (4) song title. For example, one such genre I have a lot of is blues music. But... under the blues category, I have songs by many artists. Each artist might have several or many albums.
I'd like to be able to create such a list and then print it out. It's going to be a LONG list no matter what, but to keep it as short as possible I'd like to be able to customize the grouping & sorting so as to eliminate as much repetition as possible. That is to say, the name of each file doesn't need to be preceded by the genre/artist/album name. Those should only be category headers.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Freeware or paid software is okay, as long as it does what I need.

If you decide to move to MBAM3 uninstall version 2 first, reboot, and then install version 3.
That's very interesting to know - yesterday evening, I found out exactly why MBAM advises an uninstall of version 2 prior to installation of version 3!
Not being aware of MBAM's favored protocol, I simply downloaded the newest version while version 2 was still on my computer. The end result was a small popup that reads "Cannot access the program".... or something like that. I was unable to launch MBAM at all. But it was late, so I just decided to go to bed. Well, just a few moments ago, after my morning ritual which involves beginning the day's computer boot up and fetching a cup of coffee, I uninstalled MBAM entirely and then re-started the computer. Once it was fully started I went to MBAM's homepage and downloaded the current installation file - and voila! I'm back in business with Malwarebytes.
So yes, hazelnut, you are quite correct in pointing out that an uninstall (and subsequent re-boot) needs to be performed before a version 3 upgrade. But as this morning's experience shows, it's easily rectified if a user fails to follow the directions!

No problems, just use one of the free AVs alongside Malwarebytes and you should be fine.
Malwarebytes is designed to run alongside any AV to give 'layered' protection.
If you havn't already then upgrade to MB3 for free, your perpetual licence is still valid.
MB3 has combined Anti Exploit & Anti Ransomware included.
Most people still run it alongside a traditional AV.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit SP1. It has AMD Athlon II X2 220 Processor, 16GB Ram, ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics. I ALWAYS keep the machine constantly updated.
My question is what to do about my antivirus software.
I have been running Kaspersky Internet Security AND Malwarebytes Premium simultaneously. It might be ridiculous to run both at once, but there it is.
My Kaskpersky is reporting that my 1-year subscription is going to expire in 7 days, so I'd like to know what you all would suggest. Can I get by with Malwarebytes Premium alone, by itself? Should I not run Kaspersky and Malwarebytes at the same time??
One mitigating factor is that this computer is basically a piece of crap, and barely worth keeping. So that makes me want to let my Kaspersky subscription lapse, and just replace it with one of the free anti-virus programs out there, like Avast! or one of the others.
Also, there is a strong possibility I will be replacing this Windows machine with a Mac of some sort. So, you can see my reluctance to sign up for another year of Kaspersky. My Malwarebytes subscription is forever, it never expires.
What would you do??

in a nutshell, 1 license is for 1 PC for one year.
after the year, the version remains Professional (monitoring, multi-user) but you lose the auto-update and priority support.

I've been running CCleaner Free for several years now, and I'd like to purchase the professional edition for my home computers. Do I need to purchase separate licenses for all three of my home computers? Or will one license cover multiple computers, like some anti-virus programs? Looking at the CCleaner purchase page, I can't really tell.

Hello, I'm not sure if this belongs in the hardware section or the software section. Anyway, I ran into a very peculiar problem recently at my wife's office. Her computer runs just fine except the keyboard has a strange problem. The @ and the " are switched! Not the physical keys, but the result of pressing the keys. When you press the @ symbol, what appears on the monitor is ". And the opposite is true, too.... when you press the " symbol, what appears on the monitor is the @.
Just to be clear, I'm talking about the @ symbol, directly over the "2" key on the upper row. And the " symbol, directly to the left of the "enter" key.
At first I thought it was a problem with the keyboard, so I just changed out the keyboard for a new one - but the same problem remains. So it can't be the keyboard - it's something in the computer.
The computer in question is running Windows 7 Professional with all updates.
Can anyone suggest a solution? I've looked at the keyboard dialog box in Control Panel but I don't see anything to try.

I use an external hard drive to back up my photos and music files. All of a sudden, seemingly out of nowhere, I cannot delete files from the drive! HELP!!! Before I do a new backup, I normally delete the folder from the previous backup, and then perform the backup of the same folder with the latest photo additions. It used to be that all I had to do was plug in my external hard drive into the USB port, and then navigate to the folder I want to delete - all I had to do was right-click on the folder and select "Delete". But now, the "Delete" option isn't even there at all!! The "Properties" option is still there at the bottom of the context menu, and the "Delete" option used to be 2 or maybe 3 options above that. But no more........HELP!!! What happened to me? How can I fix my problem? I cannot fit two backups of my photos folder onto the external HD because the folder is too big for that.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have an .avi film clip stored on my hard drive that I would like to split into smaller fragments. I'm running Win-7 Professional, 64-bit. I tried Windows Live Movie Maker, but I just can't figure out how to perform the split at a chosen location once I've loaded the film clip.
What's the EASIEST-TO-USE freeware program to do what I want? Or should I try Windows Live Movie Maker again? If so, would someone walk me through the steps?

I used AVG free for years until it let a virus slip through and did some serious damage to my Vista 32-bit laptop. Since then it's ESET Smart Security 4. No problems since then. Effortless updating.

Hazelnut & stanford - you are quite right! I was not trying to be "smart-aleck" or insulting in any way. Especially since I just started posting here! You are right - the website could stand to be a bit clearer what its intended meaning is. I guess I'm just used to all the duplicitous and misleading tactics, so I approach most websites with a skeptical eye.

Hi, new here to this board but certainly not new to CCleaner. I don't know if this is a suggestion or just an observation. It's always struck me as just a little bit odd that the changes in my CCleaner are set to take effect just by ticking the appropriate boxes and then closing out of the CCleaner application. I guess I'm used to making my changes and then clicking an "OK" button.

I disagree. The problem lies in stanford's failure to fully read the information published on the download page. The payment is for support, and it's pretty clearly stated, IMHO. We all have to beware, read things twice, caveat emptor, stuff like that.

Well, OK then. I've already uninstalled my copy of Defraggler. My original question was simple enough, but I've noticed two things. #1, nobody (either other forum members or someone from Piriform development team) has answered my question. And #2, two other folks have chimed in with the same problem!
This shows me that maybe there is a resolution to this particular problem and maybe there isn't. Either way, Defraggler is not ready for release. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm sticking with the OEM defragmentation tool or possibly one such as Perfect Disk or Diskeeper.
On the other hand, CCleaner is a wonderful tool and very effective. Let's hope that the Piriform folks keep working on Defraggler. It's a good idea that doesn't have all the problems ironed out.

Hello, I just downloaded Defraggler version 1.06.118 yesterday. I'm running Vista Home Professional 32-bit. When I run Defraggler on my "C" drive and let it run, it will eventually finish and report "Defragmentation Complete". But the graphic readout (the colored squares) show over HALF of my drive represented by RED squares! So why does Defraggler report that it's done with the defragmentation process, and yet show the job only half done?

Help needed: issues with moving from Gmail to ProtonMail

I'm running Windows 10.
I'm trying to understand a couple of things about how ProtonMail works. I've got an email set up with them, and I've managed to import all my "Gmail emails" into my new ProtonMail address. I want to file all my newly-imported emails into folders, like I had in Gmail.
But ProtonMail seems to have what they call "labels" associated with each email.
When I try to make a folder in ProtonMail to put the email into, a popup message says "There is already a Label with that name". Yeah, I know there's a label with that name, I'm trying to make a folder - not a label!
Why can't I make a folder in ProtonMail with the same name that I had in Gmail? All I'm trying to do is replicate my "filing system" that I was used to in Gmail.
