  1. Mmm Thanksgiving is arriving soon and I will eat Pumpkin Pie. Can't forget the Cool Whip.
  2. Hey add it to your list of things to use some C4 on.

WMP becoming crap is your opinion. Newer versions have so much more functionality over 6.x since people can rip audio (insecurely, and hopefully not .wma) and have a good database of what they've ripped readily available.
  4. You're not to far off however the Notepad replacement metapad can open with formatting MS Word saved .doc files. that have been saved as 'Word 97-2003 &6.0/95 - RTF (*.doc)'. It can open Word 2003 formatted files however the file formatting will be completely lost, and as Eldmannen already stated you may be able to extract from the file. It probably wouldn't hurt to give Wordpad/Write a try to see what they can get from the file.
  5. If you're creating a scheduled task via Windows Scheduled Tasks just create a link to normally run ccleaner.exe. Then edit the program to run so that the parameter looks like this (including the quotes): "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe" /AUTO You'd use the same parameter if you wanted to create for instance a desktop icon, or All Users startup folder link to automatically and silently run CCleaner.
  6. Isn't pumpkin in the squash family? Is squash a fruit?
  7. Ha ha ha! This takes the cake, talk about freakin' funny!
  8. I myself don't prefer it, I can't stand the OS rot that eventually allows it to self destruct, and the overall sluggish performance would suggest if Win98 had feet it would constantly trip all over its own feet. I do however miss not having a DOS mode in NT based OSes formatted with NTFS for the simple fact that a DOS mode allows for easy removal of some nasty stuff, and since there's a plethora of DOS tools that I miss on a daily basis.
  9. It all sounds kind of fruity.
  10. I'd rather eat apples and bananas instead of "listening" to them.
  11. Now stuff is really getting to sound more like piracy is being considered like murder. I can only imagine watching the news when someone is convicted of Attempted Piracy and give 25 years to life for it. Captain James Hook must be laughing in his grave at the sound of such two words: Attempted Piracy
  12. * Look at the bottom of the page here * CCleaner Help * This thread basicially asks the same questions.
  13. 256 MB Ram on an XP system is half of what is recommended and what most computer manufacturers ship as default. However I'd recommend at least 1 GB of Ram if your system will support that much, that is after you run your virtual memory test.
  14. I don't know exactly how it will/does work, however it's probably a chip in the units that allow for such behavior. Also my JVC home dvd recorders user manual also states that some broadcasts may only be recordable once or not at all due to copying limitations. Edit: It's probably the copy-protection chip in the units. Unlike old VCR's when you'd try to dub a VHS tape in your collection the picture would be distorted, well with many modern digital recording devices it won't let you dub such copy-protected programs at all from for instance a VHS tape.
  15. Speaking of the whole DRM issue, I remember reading awhile back where broadcast television in the future will be able to block and not allow devices such as hard drive recorders and dvd recorders from recording certain programs. The strange thing is I've already encountered this twice on my JVC home dvd recorder when it has stated that some parts of a broadcast couldn't be recorded.

    Freeware!

EULAlyzer http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/eulalyzer.html By Javacool Software LLC, the makers of SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, etc. Description taken from the Readme.txt file:
  17. Well there are some security softwares that can disable WMP from being able to use the Internet at all by disabling it's features. You don't by any chance have any such software installed that's blocking it do you?
  18. Those can be manually removed by right clicking them and selecting Remove, you'll of course have to run a registry cleaner after removing them such as CCleaner's Issues scanner. If you've ever used a free online virus scanner service they usually place their files in there and leave it up to the user to find and delete them if they never use the free service again. Those that you can leave in there that are useful for Windows are: * Java Runtime Environment * MUWebControl Class - (required to use Microsoft Update website) * Shockwave Flash Object * Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool - (required to download software and updates from Microsoft)
  19. There's no need to apologize! You haven't inconvenienced or disturbed me at all! You came here for help and that's what I tried to do. If it wasn't me who tried to help you one of the other forum members surely would have.
  20. I honestly don't know why after you've already fully uninstalled EZAV and with no files or registry keys left over from it why it would reappear in the Cleaner portion of CCleaner.
  21. It should still be good in 2008, however even two year old customized to the brim systems like mine have what is now considered an ancient graphics card when compared to what's new.
  22. Ok, now I understand what you're talking about. All you have to do is via a right click manually delete the EZAV reference located in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\CCleaner If it returns in there and you don't have EZAV installed you can ignore it.
  23. True text editors don't reveal anything useful at all. However a hexview like this one via IrfanView does show something, although I don't know how useful it is:
  24. SOPHOS and Symantec are also having to deal with the new malware that's using the Sony Rootkit as a template. I just knew this was going to happen!
