  1. Do you think that Opera 10 would be faster than Firefox 3 on a dialup internet connection? I run XP sp3 on a 1.6 Mhz Dell laptop with 512 Ram. I tried Opera a year ago on an older computer and it seemed slower than FireFox 2 at the time. Thanks for the help.
  2. Thanks for the posts. So, there is no 10 day default now. The default is all temp files. The option is temp files that are older than 48 hours. Right.
  3. Is the secure delete of CCleaner as effective as Eraser?
  4. I am confused about the System Temp File removal. In the Beginner's Guide it states: Temporary Files Many applications use temporary files when working to save information. These are normally deleted upon exit, but occasionally they can be left behind. Normally when the program is not shut down properly. This option will safely delete these files. (By default it only removes files that haven't been used in the last 10 days, this prevents current temp files from being removed. There is an option to turn off this feature on the Options window.) In the Advanced Options, the choice below can be checked: Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours (This will only remove files in the temp folder older than 48 hours) Do these parameters work together? So is the default 10 days, and the option reduces it to 48 hours? This seems confusing to me? Please explain this so it is clearer. Thanks
  5. I would find it helpful if CCleaner had a delete option to delete the cleaned items to the Recycling Bin. This could provide an added degree of safety and allow an undo if needed. Along with this option, could be a right click option for the recycling bin to securely empty the reycling bin with CC. After a few days, if all is well, then I would permanently delete the cleaned items from the recycling bin. I would also like to have a right click option to securely delete an individual file throughout the computer. Thanks for considering these suggestions.
  6. Thanks for the link--this is helpful to consider.
  7. Please explain what Eraser installs which is too much. I want to understand this better. Thanks
  8. I use Avira Security Suite which has a antivirus and a firewall. I don't think the firewall is highly rated, but I thought it would be best to use both from the same company so there would be no conflicts.
  9. I am interested in understanding the use of Eraser and I am interested in your suggestions. Could you explain the reasons for the suggested way to use Eraser. Thanks
  10. Thank--I never noticed this option.
  11. How do you use Eraser to clear the pagefile on shutdown. Please walk me through the steps. Thanks

    Swap File

Well, this is interesting information. So there is no need to clear the pagefile(or swap file). I am using XP.
  13. Please consider adding a feature to clear the pagefile. This would require a restart to complete, I think. This is offered by some of the other cleaner apps from other companies. Thanks
  14. X-3, Is there any drawback to this change in the registry, ie performance of apps, problems, whatever? Does it improve performance of apps and the computer as a whole? I am a novice, but willing to try this if it only provides benefit and no negative effect? But I want to know: Why is windows caching the DLL in the memory? What purpose does it serve? Thanks,

    Swap File

Is it a good idea to clear the PageFile occassionally? Does it make the computer run better or is it purely for security?

    Swap File

Does CCleaner wipe the Swap File? Some of the other cleaner apps clean the swap file.
