  1. Good morning Piriform, I'm a long-term user and subscriber to Piriform and value CCleaner highly. However, after viewing some photos from a back-up DVD on a Packard Bell iMedia D2525UK running Win 7-64, an email advised of CCleaner 401 which I downloaded. After installation, which went well as usual, I ran it as advised and found it a lot slower than v400, which had speeded up a lot in comparison with earlier versions. When I went to open 'Tools', a dialogue box warned that there was no no disc in the reader and the system would not respond to any inputs. I had to use Win Task Manager to shut down the locked programs, which were listed as Piriform and CCleaner as separate items. Is CCleaner v400 still available as a stop-gap?, I have deleted it from my downloads file after I installed v401, and is there a permanent solution for the problem I have met? Regards, Rog
  2. Regarding Nergal's advice always to take the 'Backup Registry' option. I've recently seen comment from a magazine professional which said that he never bothers and has never had a problem. I must say I've never bothered and I've never had a problem either. The logic behind me not bothering is this: Why would I be wanting to persevere with a registry in which CCleaner had designated an entry an 'Issue'? I want a registry without 'Issues' so why would I keep one which had? I'd be interested in Nergal's reasoning apart from the obvious one that the registry was working OK with the 'Issue' before CCleaner found it. Regards, Rog
  3. Dear Piriform, I have just downloaded version 2.11 and used it. Unlike all earlier versions it reports the total rubbish to be deleted with both a European and a British decimal point. For example, 1,036.6MB. Now, this is meaningless. It is either more than I have on my hard drive or it is just over a Megabyte. I have delayed deleting these files just in case CCleaner has gone mad but I think CCleaner is indicating that just over a MB is ready to be deleted. Please clarify. Yours sincerely, Gerigent
