  1. From time to time, I consider the TV news to be pure (either left wing or right wing) propaganda. There're A LOT OF websites that have a MUCH better grasp on what's REALLY going on in the world. In spite of sometimes being from the "Loony Left" or the "Loony right". I have take a piece of ductape and put it over the laptop webcam and microphone. The rare occasions I use the camera or microphone (Skype), I simply remove the tape and put it back after use. So, no privacy violations anymore by Microsoft or anyone else. Problem solved.

  3. @Nwpsys: You're not the only one with this problem. http://www.tweaking....php?topic=638.0 Try a program called "Windows Repair" (www.tweaking.com) and make sure you - at least - tick "Repair WMI". The program can solve A LOT OF (not all) window problems. I don't know whether this program ("Windows Repair") is able to restart the WMI service. "Window Repair" is a first step to a more stable computer system. Perhaps the Piriform moderators can create a FAQ section/thread here on the forum ? Where an answer can be provided for a number of recurring errors in Speccy ? And their solutions ?
  4. For those who have downloaded the latest version of "Windows Repair" (v1.92) in the last days: It contained a small bug. This bug has been fixed and therefore you need to download the program again. http://www.tweaking....opic,643.0.html
  5. Try a program called "Windows Repair" (www.tweaking.com) and make sure you - at least - tick the box called "Repair WMI". WMI is used to pull up A LOT OF info from one's computer system. The program can fix A LOT OF (not all !!!) other computer problems as well. If it helped you to get rid of the "Cannot initialise SPC dll" error then post a new reply in this thread. Or send the author (Piriform forum nickname: SMC1979) a "thank you" PM. Or post a "Thank you" post on the www.Tweaking.com forum.
  6. I came across another bug in DF (v2.11): Again, one word doesn't get translated when I change the language. It's the word "Color" in the tab "Drive map". I need to restart DF to get this word translated/string replaced. Seems DF doesn't read the proper word from the appropriate language file when I change the language. But DF does read it when DF (re-)starts. The attachment shows this word after I changed the language from dutch to english. The dutch word "Kleur" should be replaced by "Color" but it wasn't. The word "Kleur" continues to be displayed whereas all the other text is changed/translated into english.
  7. Here're some pictures to illustrate what I mean. The first picture shows the tabs in the main screen of DF. Only the "file list" tab has a scrollbar. The second picture shows the content of the pane of the "Drive map" tab when activated but not enlarged to the full size. What I would like to see is a scrollbar on the right or left hand side of the pane. So, I can scroll through the pane and see the entire content. Other solutions for this could be that each tab has a (what I would call) "Maximize pane/tab" button on the right hand side of the (active) tab (or perhaps on the left hand side). But then there's a need for a "Previous size" button as well. Then only the "file list" tab needs a scrollbar.
  8. Seems the folks have taken my suggestion, made in post #1 of this thread, to heart. But they did something different. They changed the behaviour of opening folders in CC. When I want to open a second file (on my Win 7 64 bits laptop) in the same folder then CC (v3.25) opens that folder for a second time. When I open a file in the same folder CC opens that folder for a third time. And so on ................ So, when I open 10 files in the same folder then both CC and DF now open that folder 10 times. So, it seems the behaviour of CC v3.25 copies the behaviour of Defraggler instead of (what I would have preferred) the other way around. I still would prefer CC v3.25 and the latest DF to behave like a previous version of CC, as I have described in the first post of this thread. Perhaps the Piriform folks are willing to change this in the next CC & DF version ?
  9. In addition to the previous posts: The problem is that Recuva (RC), after changing the language simply doesn't read all translation strings from the language file. It does read all the stings after RC has been restarted. The solution is - IMO - actually quite simple. RC should contain one "read translation strings" (sub-)routine that's called upon when necessary when the program starts and when the user changes the language.
  10. In the latest Recuva version (v1.44) this problem hasn't been solved. I changed the language from english to dutch but one part of the strings aren't translated/replaced. I must restart Recuva to get these strings translated. It concerns the strings inside the box ("filename or path"). See attachment.
  11. The original post: http://patrickbgibson.tumblr.com/post/36041799210/apple-and-twitter http://patrickbgibson.tumblr.com/ Never used any of Apple products except for the (lousy) Quicktime software.

  13. Just see what happened in New Orleans, in 2005, with hurricane Katrina !!
  14. Seems there's A LOT OF that needs to be fixed in the US. http://www.thedailyb...ken-system.html And why did so many people build their house on the beachfront ? A sure guarantee to get one's house destroyed in a/the next (super-)storm like e.g. Sandy.
  15. You use the portable version. I don't. And in the non-portable version I use this feature hasn't been implemented. Seems the developers have overlooked other versions. Yes, highlight the file, that has been chosen, as well.
  16. Here in the Netherlands the majority of houses (>98%) have brick or concrete walls.
  17. http://news.yahoo.com/photos/ http://www.nydailyne...llery-1.1194577 http://www.nydailyne...95831#pmSlide=0 I didn't know that there were so much wooden houses in the US. It reminds me of the tale of the three piggies.
  18. @Hazelnut: Your avatar is a bit "sheepish". I loved the old one more. Meeeeehhhhhhh ........
  19. Now the avatars (from e.g. DennisD & Hazelnut but not mine) and smileys are missing again/got lost. Edit: Seems avatars & smileys are back/repaired.
  20. A few theething issues ? I know that I posted this already in a different thread but all of my shortcuts to the Piriform forum don't work any more. And I have two scrollbars on the right hand side of the computerscreen when I visit the forum. Edit: 1. Scrollbar issue seems to be solved. 2. Webadresses all have changed. No wonder my Favourite Piriform shortcuts don't work any more. Any plans to use the old webadresses again ? 3. Notification system seems to be working as it should.
  21. Yep. Got my avatar restored. "No user info compromised" ? Next problem is that all of my shortcuts to a number of threads on the Piriform forum don't work anymore.
