  1. - Run Antibody's WizTree. It will tell you what the size all the folders on your HD have. Including that folder called "System Volume Information" which contains the System Restore Points.
  2. Defraggler: Willy2's bug reports

    - Found something else that can be improved. When the user has clicked on "Analyze" then I think the program should open the "File list" tab (either before or after finishing the analysis). Currently that's not the case. Now DF keeps the active tab (e.g. "Search", "Health") open. - The behaviour, as descibed in the previous post, only occurs when I tell DF to save the settings in an *.ini file. I have done that because I have two copies of DF installed. Each with different settings (think: files in e.g. the "Exclude"list ). See the attached file for a zipped up copy of that *.ini file. Defraggler.zip
  3. Move Large Files to End of Drive

    - Agree. Even when I manually move files to the end of the drive (which works much better) then DF sometimes has its own thoughts on where to place the files.
  4. Move Large Files to End of Drive

    - Yes, DF still has a number of bugs. As a daily user of DF I have come across these bugs and reported them. And moving files "flawlessly" to the end of the drive is not "one of the strong points" of DF. I can't prove anything but I do get the impression that somehow Windows itself interferes with the program. Or perhaps some other program/Service interferes with Defraggler. - I could imagine that after a socalled "Clean boot" of Windows Defraggler would do its job(s) much better. Because then Windows is started with only the most essential Windows Services and programs. Perhaps then DF works much better ?
  5. New forum look.

    - My signature is gone !!!!!! The new forum look/format doesn't support that any more. (sob, sob, sob ). - And my avatar is (somewhat) "disfigured". A part of the ear of "Felix the cat" in my avatar has been truncated/cut off.
  6. New .NET version available

MS issued a new .NET Framework version. It's version v4.7. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/whats-new/
  7. New .NET version available

    - @Trium: The link Hazelnut provided shows that Windows 7 SP 1 and Windows 8 come with .NET pre-installed. Whether you like it or not.
  8. - I think you have used/selected the additional options ( "settings", "options") and then the program will move selected files/folders to the end of the drive. - I personally made the program move non-system files to the end of the drive and system files to the beginning of the drive. I think that this will help my system to be as fast as possible.
  9. - Try if running Tweaking's Windows Repair fixes the problem. And makes sure that you - at least - run repair #5.
  10. - Sometimes SPECCY can't make up it's mind. I came across one example of where the program thought someone had a i3 or i5 or i7 Intel CPU but according to the writer of the post he/she had a Celeron CPU. - And the user had a "5xxxx" Intel CPU. Odd, very odd. See reply #6 in this thread: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/593347/dell-inspiron-15-badly-recurrent-crashes/
  11. SPECCY: Willy2's bug reports

A follow up on the "Windows Defender" problem/bug (see also previous posts). - In a thread on "BleepingComputer" I came across this SPECCY snapshot from a Win 7 system. http://speccy.piriform.com/results/U5U22OfLXWg37BF1XModA7W This snapshot reports the user has the Windows Defender disabled. And that's logical because he/she has MS Security Essentials (MSE) as an anti virus program. When a user installs MSE then it automatically disables Windows Defender and the Windows Defender Service. - But on my Win 7 system I have disabled the Windows Defender Service and I didn't install MSE but nonetheless SPECCY reports that Windows Defender is "Enabled". Conclusion: SPECCY pulls up the wrong info from the wrong spot and then - of course - draws the wrong conclusion. To be fixed in a/the next SPECCY version !!!!
  12. Defraggler: Willy2's bug reports

    - Re-installed Win 7 SP 1 some 10 days ago and I am still busy moving files from selected folders (e.g. "c:\windows") to the beginning of the drive but DF isn't "cooperating too much". Because when I remove that folder from the "Exclude" list then DF does remove that folder (for a while). But after a new restart that folder is back in the "Exclude" list. It's driving me nuts. Talking about reliability. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ......................
  13. Defraggler: Willy2's bug reports

    - Makes perfect sense. - But then I would expect that the feature "Move files to end of drive" would also take LOTS of time to perform that task. Seems that that feature ("Move files to end of drive") uses a different algorithm. Don't know what to make of it but the difference is too large to "remain under the radar". (I use the program every day to keep all non-system files away from the beginning of the C: drive)
  14. Defraggler: Willy2's bug reports

    - Came across another ugly thing that can be improved in DF v2.21. - Unintentionally I added all the folders except one (or two ??) of my C: drive to the list of folders that were to be excluded from defragging. Those one or two folders contained about 60 MB of data. Then I told DF to "Defrag Freespace" my C: drive. It took DF some two hours to perform this operation. And that for a mere 60 MB of data !!!!
  15. SPECCY: Willy2's bug reports

    - Bug in the installation program of SPECCY v1.31. Take the following steps: 1) Start the installation program. 2) Change the language from english (the default language) to "Nederlands/Dutch". 3) The word "More" doesn't get translated. It should be "Verder" or "Meer". 4) Choose "More" and then another english word ("Back") shows up. That should be "Terug". These are clearly 2 bugs in the programcode because when I change the language to german, japanese, latvian, russian or spanish these 2 words remain in english and don't get "translated". (Didn't try other languages). - I also noticed that translators for a number of languages need to increase the amount of translated text strings. Seems they didn't "receive the message" that the amount of text strings has increased.
  16. New .NET version available

    - Noticed something interesting/odd. When one downloads one ".NET security & quality rollup" from the MS Update Catalogus website, then one downloads 4 seperate files. The entire "Rollup" contains 4 files. 2 files then are for one specific .NET version and 2 for all .NET versions.
  17. Freeware Rebooted

As time goes by WizTree will support more and more languages. Quote from the Antiboy software website: WizTree 3.00 now supports multiple languages, but we need your help! Please click here to find out how to add a translation. Currently available translations are below... ( http://antibody-software.com/web/software/software/wiztree-finds-the-files-and-folders-using-the-most-disk-space-on-your-hard-drive/ )
  18. SPECCY: Willy2's bug reports

    - I'll provide some more info (See previous post). - The SPECCY (v1.31) snapshot (see my signature) says that the "Windows Defender" is disabled/stopped on my Windows 7 system. But the same SPECCY snapshot also tells me (under the header "Windows Defender") that "Windows Defender" has been enabled. A question for people who have a Win 8 or Win 10 system: Does the same issue surface on those Operating Systems ?
  19. SPECCY: Willy2's bug reports

    - SPECCY v1.31 still fails to report the proper status of the Windows Defender Service. I disabled that Service but SPECCY still think that it's running. Seems SPECCY is pulling up the wrong info to determine whether or not this Service is running.
  20. Defraggler: Willy2's bug reports

    - Came across another bug in DF v2.21. - I have a USB (v3.0) SSD drive of 500 GB that's being used to backup all important files that are stored on my HD (also some 500 GB in size). An SSD has no moving parts and that's an advantage over a USB HD drive. DF recognized that the filing system on the SSD is "exFAT". DF noted there were a number of fragmented directory files. I told DF to defragment those directory files and DF performed that task well. (at least, that was based on what I saw happening on the drive map). - But now here's the problem. DF failed to determine the size of those directory files. DF said that the size of all those directory files were all 0 (zero) bytes. And I DO know the directory files were not zero bytes in size because some of those directories contained A LOT OF (large) files.
  21. Freeware Rebooted

    - WIZTREE v3.11 has been released.
  22. Boot time defrag takes up space?

    - It could be caused by something else. e.g.: 1) Windows making a new system restore point. 2) Windows increasing the size of the pagefile. Or any of the 3) Any other piece of software updating itself. 4) .......................... 5) Or a combination of the above.
  23. Defrag an almost FULL HDD

    - You indeed can speed it up. Move anything between say 10% to 25% of the drive's content to another drive, defrag the drive and then move that previously moved content back. When you move the content back then the OS will try to keep the defragmentation as low as possible.
  24. Website: Tweaking.com

    - I have a request for people who re-install Windows 7 & Windows Vista on a regular basis (MTA ? Hazelnut ?). - The request is the following: When you have installed Windows (again) then please run the latest Tweaking's "Svchost Look up tool". Can you tell me what the switches are for "Svchost.exe" that runs/controls the WMI Service ? (the tool can export the info to a text file) http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/tweaking_com_svchost_exe_lookup_tool.html - FYI: The process "Svchost.exe" is the host for several Services that can be run with several different switches. There was some discussion with which switches "Svchost.exe" should be run when it wants to control/manage the WMI Service. There's the suspicion that changing that switch (from "-k winmgmt" to "-k netsvcs") for the WMI Service will cause errors/problems on a Windows 7 and Vista system. http://www.tweaking.com/forums/index.php/topic,5442.0.html
  25. Freeware Rebooted

    - I have switched off the treemap (F9) and switched on the filetypes info (F8) in WIZTREE v3.10. This is the way I like the latest WIZTREE program.
