    slim

Seconded. No slim? New owners getting greedy?
  2. Willy2 well done suggesting fixes. I might ask why it is that if an the average 'Defrag' takes hours and the average system is set to Sleep in thirty minutes, the system doesn't /at least have a non-default option/ to disable sleep while it is active? It is poor planning from the average novice's view. Just my 2c, thanks.
  3. Does Windows correctly identify the drive? Defraggler may use Windows' information. A suggestion is to try opening the command prompt and winsat diskformal .
  4. Hello, A memory card is giving me trouble. It would appear the previous MFT is gone. It needs a full deep scan to get things back and they are visible when it starts. The problem is it will work for a minute or two and then cut out. Recuva is currently unable to assist, with a small modification it would be much more helpful. I have had this problem with hard disc drives in the past. The issue appears to be thermal and it is safe to assume it cuts out when surpassing a thermal barrier. Currently the software cuts out after a few minutes, the media appears to disconnect and reconnect itself to the system or just lacks the correct channel (there is no Windows 'disconnect/reconnect' sound). If Recuva could just be made to slow down its reads it may complete the task, albeit at a variably slower timeframe. A suggestion would be a slider with full to minimum. Slider positions could be configured for 'normal' with decreasing values to 1 kilobyte per second (maybe additional options to 1 bit/s could be an ini option to avoid the less technically inclined). The alternative is to add something to the effect of 'save scan state' wherein a button exists to 'remember current position,' essentially a pause, when the storage device cools the scan can be resumed. Either one of these would put Recuva ahead of the other software out there and is a good approach to a problem that is not uncommon. Are you willing to see something like this be implemented? I would be willing to contribute a fair amount of money if Piriform were to do so in any sort of timely manner. Your assistance is appreciated.
  5. Hello, This is a good idea. I downloaded the file yesterday and ran it with many new options. Today, Mailwasher 2012 is missing all emails downloaded before now. They only display something similar to: The email was empty account = Acct1963********* uid = 2fea******************************** file name = C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher\cache\crypto\2fea179f8*********************************.0001 (asterisks in the event data is sensitive). It has worked well and continually upgraded for years. Please correct or remove this option. Thank you, Silicon83
  6. Hello, There have been many viruses that remove the contents of the start menu. They move them to %TEMP%\SMTMP, SMTMP1 and SMTMP*. CCleaner is a great program to clear out garbage that slows down scanning but it will permanently remove the entire start menu on infected machines. Please implement an exception to file removal for folders named "smtmp" and its derivitives (smtmp1, smtmp2, an so on). Here is a good example of a recent version in a string of infections that damage the system in this manner: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-system-check. Thank you, Silicon83
  7. i recommend you add shareaza(http://shareaza.sourceforge.net) metadata(a subfolder of downloads) & old trend micro antivirus/pc-cillin or trend micro internet security updates(the updates the pcctool or tissuprt programs will delete when you have the program and click 'delete updates')
  8. When you choose clean Hotfixers you leave all the *.cat files for the hotfixers. It seems you should remove KB******.CAT also.
  9. You can also remove C:\Documents and Settings\Captain\Application Data\dvdcss subfolders. I found it is used by VLC Player for DVDs. A subdirectory with the name of any DVD you have ever played in VLC is there forever. They have the full titles of the DVDs. Spybot Search & Destroy Stores the old files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy . There are four subfolders, Backups, Excludes, Logs, and Recovery . You would need to warn users what they were getting rid of.
  10. I use Avira virus scanner. It has a temp folder it uses when extracting files to scan archives. The directory doesn't always empty. It is: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\TEMP\ .
