When I got home, i successfully managed to 'Merge' my reg file back into the registry - except, for some items, it said, which was already being used - what does that mean?

Thanks for all your replies. I am using an xp machine at work - which is where im having the problems. However when im home using my xp, when i r/c the reg file and select merge, it asks me if im sure i want to put the file into the registry. I think thats correct isnt it? I didnt do it, but its good to know i can when i want to. As for the works machine, i dont have regedit as an option, but what i could do is open regedit by start / run / regedit, and importing the file into it that way. i tried that and when i ran cc cleaner again, the same reg entries i previously deleted, where back again - so i must be doing it right. Can someone confirm this please - thanks again

If I wish to merge the registry items deleted by cc cleaner, how do I do it? After a scan, I chose to back up the registry items, in My Documents. I notice that if i right click on the file, it has an option to merge, but when i do that, i just get notepad come up with the reg items on - and thats all i can do. If i need to put the registry items back, what exactly do i do? By the way, im using vista
