  1. Let me simplify this question: Where does CCleaner get its list of Firefox cookies, besides from Firefox's cookie database? There is a security implication here: If I visit Facebook, for example, in a Firefox Private Browser window (and only in a Private Browser window), it places a facebook.com cookie on my computer that can be seen in the CCleaner cookie list. Since the cookie does not appear in Firefox's own cookie list, Firefox doesn't remove the cookie when the Private Browser window is closed, thus leaving a trace of a site visited on the computer. So where (i.e., in which directory/file/registry key) might CCleaner have found the trace of that facebook.com cookie?
  2. I see several cookies in the CCleaner cookies windows that I can't find anywhere else. These cookies do not appear in the cookies list under Firefox Settings (and Firefox is the only browser I use). Some examples are connect.facebook.net, cdnjs.cloudfare.com, and login.wikimedia.org, and these cookies keep coming back after cleaning them up even though I haven't visited those sites and have 3rd-party cookies blocked in Firefox except from visited sites. Notice in the attached image that these cookies are listed in CCleaner, but they aren't listed in Firefox Settings. Can anyone tell me where these cookies are stored and why I can't see them in Firefox Settings?
  3. There's a strange cookie with a long hexadecimal name that keeps showing up in my CCleaner cookies list (see image). The cookie shows up a few seconds after I launch Firefox, even before I visit any sites. When I run CCleaner, the cookie goes away, but it comes back again the next time I launch Firefox. CCleaner shows the Firefox icon at the bottom of the cookie windows, but, oddly, the cookie does not appear in the cookies list in Firefox settings. What is this strange cookie, and how do I make it go away?

    Vista UAC

Yes. However, "Run as Administrator" always requires UAC confirmation, at least on my machines. (That's why it has a shield icon next to it.) From Microsoft KB article 922708: "You cannot set UAC to automatically run a program as an administrator without the user being prompted."

    Vista UAC

I am aware that this question has been posted several times here, but none of the "solutions" appear to work. Every time I run CCleaner version 2.03.532 on Windows Vista Ultimate, a UAC dialog similar to this one appears, asking me whether I wish to grant the program permission to run: (Of course, the dialog box in this case says "CCleaner" and "Piriform Ltd" instead of Lavasoft.) This happens whether I run CCleaner from its shortcut, its program file, the Recycle Bin, or -- most annoyingly -- even if it runs automatically on startup. Turning off UAC is not an option. Following the suggestions in previous forum postings, I have tried setting the CCleaner program file's Compatibility tab to "Run as Administrator" and to "Windows XP," neither of which seem to make any difference. This is a major limitation of the software, particularly with the "autoclean at startup" option. Any workaround? Thank you.
