  1. If it annoys you, just turn it off like tnfarmer did.
  2. You may want to check your computer for Malware or viruses. Start here: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=17457 If you want to look at typed url's in the registry I would be glad to help. Please keep in mind that going into the registry and making changes can have an adverse effect on your computer.
  3. Try downloading it to a different media or drive.
  4. If you are saying they appear to be corrupt because the installation fails, maybe this is the reason. This is only recommended if the installation fails.
  5. Could this be where they're coming from? Toolbars save information like history, autofill, bookmarks. Even if you do use a toolbar, I can't see it effecting the IE address bar.
  6. I didn't think you had anything to hide. We all have sensitive data that needs to be gone. Yes, this is a nice place with smart and fun people. I'm glad you feel like coming back! Jamin4u
  7. Here's a post that explains what the difference is. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=100938 Gutman: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gutmann_method It sounds logical that the more you overwrite, the less of a chance there is to recover some data. I personally think 35 passes is overkill. A simple overwrite is sufficient. Overwriting once should stop regular forensic examinations. TLA agencies can examine drives with electron microscopes but unless its a case of national security, an individual would get a regular old forensic examination. When your done with your hard drive you could do this: http://driveslag.eecue.com/
  8. Hello Yorkshireman, and welcome to the forum. This is a topic that has been discussed many times on this forum. Using the search tool with terms like secure deletion will find many results. Here's one that sums it up very well by Augeas. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=113594 I think that a simple overwrite is sufficient for most data.
  9. You may want to look through your favorites and delete the ones you don't want. Your very welcome.
  10. CCleaner does its job cleaning Recently Typed URLs in Internet Explorer 7. The only addresses showing on the IE address bar when certain letters are entered are in my favorites. If you have many favorites, you can right click on anyone and click sort by name. Find the ones you don't want, right click and delete them. You can turn off Auto Complete by doing the following. Open IE click on Tools > Internet options > Content > Auto complete Settings De-select Web addresses only, or all of them if you want then click OK. Good Luck!

  12. Reset all security zones to their default level and restore advanced settings. Restart IE and see if that fixes your problem.

  16. Hello dlo, and welcome to the forum. What version of CCleaner are you using? What operating system are you using, and is it 32-bit or 64-bit? Did you run the cleaner, and fix issues in the registry?
  17. Hello smokie2020, and welcome to the forum. Try right clicking on the .reg file (b/up file), put your cursor on "open with" and choose registry editor. I Hope this helps!
  18. Hello afguy, and welcome to the forum. I can't replicate this on my Vista Home Premium 32-bit System. CCleaner has recently become fully compatible with 64-bit versions of XP and Vista. The following questions come to mind. 1) Have you run your Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus scans? 2) Did you run any bat file or script that could have corrupted the registry? I Hope this helps!
