  1. Would welcome details of freebie programmes for converting cassettes to CD disc.

Have programmes from elsewhere but but find them difficult to understand because

they seem to assume that anyone that submits this sort query has all his "buttons"

whereas I'm well past my sell-by date.

Why is it that programmes assume a knowledgeof a subject?

  2. Get the following message when attempting to install it:

"This patch packet could not be opened . Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer  patch packet".

The DVD it is on was supplied with the PC at the time of purchase of the PC. There are six programmes in the suite,  but in particular Word refuses to install itself. By mistake I erased it!  However, it is still shown in Control Panel but  cannot be shifted by the "remove"  feature.

I have the Word Product key Nos. to re-install it  -  if I could shift it completely.

    Comments/suggestions gratefully appreciated.

    12th August.

I have now resolved the problem (thanks to member rridgeley - see Important Items/Freeware)

by downloading Open Office 2. What a super programme!

  4. If you want you can still post a HijackThis log and have it cleaned.

Many thanks for your suggestion as to what should be deleted, which

I have done, including replacing Real Player with Real Alternative.

It?s a delight to now know that my system is ?clean?.

  6. Sidefinder and DyFuCA are a couple of items which apparently

are lurking on my PC. Other than doing it manually, which is?

a bit too clever for me, how do I shift them?

Is there likely to be a freebie on-line I can download?

The answer was within Spybot. Activate ?Tools? then ?View Report?,

and the report holds the clue to the Registration to be amended.

To get to the Registration entries go to ?Start/Run? and enter ?regedit?.

The part to be deleted is the last bit of the entry, and only this last part.

Skybot will show, for example, the entry as: HKEY_USERS, default, software,

microsoft, current version, etc, etc, etc. The last etc could be a few random

letters or a number with a lot of digits. This is the thing to be deleted and

    only this!

Re-scan your PC and whatever you had in ?red? as item/s needing attention

    will have disappeared.
