  1. Hello Gloryvee It sounds like you definitely have some major malware troubles, alright. As you've also noticed, it's hard to get any good and current tools that still work with that operating system. But now for the good news: Because Windows 98SE is so old, most malware will not even function or install properly on it, plus you don't have to worry about the possibility of rootkits. So from what I've read, and please correct me if I've read it incorrectly, but as you mentioned the system file rundll32.exe is currently missing, and as a result most programs fail to function correctly, including notepad, which holds the key to making progress here. DDo you by chance have a Windows 98SE cd lying around that we could use to perform a system file check and repair procedure?

  3. Hello moicarol, This forum is strictly for the removal of malware from a computer, and the immediate after effects caused by such. As I said in my previous post, I don't think that malware is your problem here, as all of your logs have come up 100% clean. As much as I would like to try to troubleshoot some things with you right now, honestly all of my time right now is focused on computers that do fall within my specific specialty of malware. Now, what I'm going to do is move your topic to the Software forum, because it sounds like you might be having issues with software drivers or the like. Hopefully someone more experienced with the current issues you're having can be of more assistance to you there.
  4. Hello moicarol, Your logs appear clean from any malware, so I doubt this is the cause of your problems. By mouse acting weird, could you expand on that a little further please?
  5. You can always give it a suggestion, though: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=12 Nice to see you over there, YoKenny
  6. This is normally legit, what probably got results as being a trojan is crypt32chain.dll, which is not the same as what you described. Unless you've been noticing other malware related issues, your probably fine. Either way though, it couldn't hurt to follow Humpty's excellent advice.
  7. Sorry for being late to this thread, I rarely deviate from the HijackThis forums.. Although it is possible to learn how HijackThis works in detail by reading tutorials on the subject, including the one available from Bleeping Computer, you will still need to go through some sort of training in order to recognize the infections in such logs. I, myself, went through the training course available on GeeksToGo, which is now one of the places I help teach how to work HIjackThis logs at. For more information on training there, you can take a look here. There are also other schools that will teach you about HijackThis, such as CastleCops, MRU, and Bleeping Computer. It is really interesting to get such a unique perspective on the way malware infects computers, and the ways used to get rid of such crap. In addition, the reason people like me just seem to show up from nowhere, is because most of us regularly do work at half a dozen forums, or more. Usually at one of the main fourms, where you can also learn how to read HJT logs from.
  8. I think both logos look very nice, it's hard to say which looks better.
  9. This is an unfortunate truth, just take a look around the malware section of various forums and you will see that both users with and without anti-virus software both can easily get infected. This part of the article still says it all, though. Make no mistake--a good security program can go a long way toward keeping you in control of your system.
  10. Happy holidays everyone
