  1. In each catagory of the event viewer, application, security, system and Internet Explorer, there is an option under "action" to clear all events yourself. I like to have some logs to look back on, and would not like them done, say as a schedule, as the amount of info that can be gained from the logs about what causes certain error can be very, very helpful.
  2. Shodan, have you got "show hidden files and folders" option turned on?
  3. Just in case anyone is still needing a good full burning studio free, this was still a live offer yesterday. I set it up for a friend and had no problem getting the registation key.
  4. As far as I know, the auto parameter refers to cleaning only. Cleaning the registry without you there to check, and select yes, to the backup it offers, would prove difficult.
  5. The hotfix option removes the uninstaller for the hotfixes. This of course means you will no longer be able to uninstall any updates that you find are causing you a problem. Always best perhaps after windows updates to wait a week or two to make sure they don't cause any problems first. More info here http://www.internetrotsyourbrain.com/ccleanerbeginnersguide/ use the advanced options under the windows tab with care unless you are sure you know what you are doing
  6. This seems to be one of those myths that circulate every year or so. This one was mentioned as going to happen in in 2003, 2005 and 2006. Sure Mars will edge a bit nearer but that seems to be all. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_mars_encounter.htm
  7. Just thought it might be interesting for members to see the differences between the US and UK keyboards. It must be difficult for you on the other side of the water to type email addresses, your @ sign is in the wrong place http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout#UK_and_Ireland
  8. The magazine comes out every 2 weeks in the UK. I buy it as I like it, it has offers and user friendly info on it. And it doesn't cost much
  9. Similar here, that's where I got the null key post from http://www.trustware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=191
  10. Happy birthday Andy, you cannot keep things like that a secret!
  11. Have been doing a little looking around and read about someone who had a similar problem to you. He found that hklm/software/bufferzone/virtual had a null key in system. Not my field this but I am sure Andavari would be able to sort it for you perhaps using the tool mentioned here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...regdelnull.mspx Worth a look anyway.

  13. Humpty I will be expecting a photo of it from you for my September desktop
  14. Good of you to post that screenshot unsober. I think part of the problem is that when you first start install and you have to select the "I accept" option on the EULA, part of it states that you have to agree to the toolbar, unfortunately your screenshot is the next bit So people think if they select I accept, they are agreeing to the toolbar, they are not, that option comes after clicking the "next"button which then leads to your screenshot above.

  16. Have a look here Kaa http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325487# By troubleshoot do you mean the event viewer on your computer? If not, have a look there and see if it gives an error number.
  17. Dennis, all your bases belong to us as Microsoft says!! Nothing is safe

  19. It may be better to send your additions for winapp2 to Twisted Metal via PM rather than to use up so much posting area with them.
  20. A little bit more info http://www.greatis.com/vista/Utilities/w/wsqmcons.exe.htm http://blog.tiensivu.com/aaron/archives/11...stallation.html
  21. This will be a false positve. Inform your spyware program vendors so they can correct this. Welcome to the forum P.S. Would you consider making your font size slightly smaller please, it looks as though you are shouting.
  22. New beta version available today, look in Announcements.
  23. Beatlebryce, I hope you realise that this forum does not condone piracy or illegal copies of microsoft (or any) software.
  24. Have a look here Beatlebryce to see if anything here can help. If not, I can recommend the system restore forum mentioned, they are very good, I have used it myself when needing to reinstall system restore for someone. http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.html
