  1. Sorry h that did not cure it either. Would I be better just downloading IE7 as I cannot find anyway of repairing IE6. I thought a new version of IE would have the file that I need or am I just chasing straws Jim
  2. Hi hazelnut and thanks for quick response.I am using XP home with SP 2. yes I put .reg straight after numbers, it is now shown in its properties as cc20071029-2052.reg but I still get message Windows cannot open this file and asks which prog to use. Right click does not offer merge option. I have tried using CCleaner to open file but get CCleaner main page as if opening cleaner.
  3. Hi, after using Registry Tool I found that my Homepage (Yahoo) display had become become very big and would not fit screen, this affected many sites visited but not all. (this one seems ok but I did reach it via a link). Itried to recover the registry back up file from my documents but there is no merge facility. the folder shows it as a regedit document and its appearance is a folder with a rectangle with a blue toolbar along the top with tiny blue and green icons. It is named as cc2071029-2052 RG BACKUP. There is no .reg exttension and even when I rename it and add the extension I stll cannot find a program to open it with which will allow me to restore the files. It may well be the CCleaner has nothing to do with the sudden resizing of the IE display but I sure would like some advice. I have checked all the settings in Control Panel, used all my AV and anti spyware cleaners (nothing found) and I have to add the Outlook express is not affected in the same way. Any ideas? Cannot reinstall/repair IE 6 as I have no Windows disc. OS is XP home by the way. Cleepops

  5. This is more of a query than a bug. Recently Windows has stopped remembering passwords. Even when I tick the box when prompted, "Do you want Windows to remember this password etc" it fails to do so. It has been suggested that this may be down to cleaning software. Can CCleaner cause this? any other ideas JF
