  1. Hi everyone,

The thing Im wondering about is why on my computer CCleaner never finds anything to clean under the applications tab. Im wondering if something's not right. Its been like this ever since I first started using it, but I just now got around to asking.

    Any help would be great

    Thanks

  2. Im pretty sure you can make a MSN Messenger account with any email. I remember testing it out with my gmail about. The only disadvantage is that you can't see if you have any new emails when you sign in.

Corrrect me if im wrong but I do remember my gmail account working on msn.

  3. err.... They didnt do a very good job...

I've read you can bypass WGA by changing 1 value in the registry, installing a script (via greasemonkey or trixie), or a surprisingly simple way in IE itself. Im obviously not going to say how becuase I don't support piracy and I'de get in trouble with the moderating team  , but it just goes to show.

  4. New Windows name has the soft, visionary, and global feel befitting a company looking to upgrade its international image.

    July 22, 2005

After a string of numbers and acronyms, Microsoft is expected to announce on Friday the next version of its franchise operating system will adopt a name with an international flavor: Windows Vista.

The Redmond software giant did its best to keep the new name under wraps, but a recent tendency among its executives to inadvertently blurt out company secrets affected another executive.

According to a number of reports, an executive either inadvertently unveiled the name at a company sales event held Thursday in Atlanta, or he deliberately gave out the name hoping the sales staff could keep the secret for 24 hours.

Until now Microsoft has stuck with names that either took the name of the year in which it was finally delivered such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 2000, or in the case of Windows NT, took the name inspired by the company?s engineering division.

According to the American Heritage College Dictionary, ?vista? is a ?distant view or prospect, especially one seen through an opening,? like a window perhaps. In both Spanish and Italian, it means ?sight.?

Vista seems like an excellent choice for a company that is international in its reach and lately has been trying to prop up its Windows business in a number of countries where English is not the native tongue

Vista? Im not sure I like that.

Fully integrated DRM, that's just what we needed Microsoft!

You can read the full story here.

  5. Me too, but I thuaght someone might want to download before it does go down.

The copyright things on cd's always give me a good laugh. I remeber reading about Sony's new cd protection plan. It's suppose to stop people from copying the cd more than once and it doesn't let you copy the copy.

  6. Rogo found a way around my IE active X problem. After I attempt to install an active x control, I find the relevent cab file in Temporary Internet Files and extract the .dll or .ocx. Then I place it in system32 and and run "regsvr32 filename". I just refresh the page and it works!

So after I thank Rogo, I head over to IE and try to update Windows Update to v6. So I do the same thing and it works so far. A message comes up, and it says something about updating files. So I wait but nothing happens. I check Temporary Internet Files and there are a few cab files in there, so I figure I can just update everything manually. I go into safe mode to overwrite some files, restart and it detects that Windows Update is v6. I think im in the clear when it asks me if I want express or custom install, but then it displays some error messge.

    Any Ideas?

Sorry for starting this topic again, but I didnt this was important enough for a new topic.
