  1. Hi TwistedMetal 114? Celsius or Fahrenheit? What part of the world are you in? It's mid winter here in Australia.
  2. Mid way through winter It only got to 8 degrees Celsius outside to day. Inside its about 17 and when I start my PC for the first time on a cold day, the case fan runs flat out for about 1 minute and then settles down to normal after windows starts. Is this normal behavior? dose any one else have a PC that dose this? Big Rock? yes I did have a screen shot of my desktop, I removed it to free up my attachments size allowance
  3. Hi burtman I forgot to put a question mark (?) at the end of "must be global warming" I'm not in the habit of jumping on any band-wagons!
  4. What's a vinyl record? Just joking A Sinclair spectrum? Thanks Hazelnut I checked out the supplied link, very interesting.
  5. Hi Hazelnut Sorry to here about all the flooding, and loss of life is never good. Here in Australia we are still struggling with drought conditions. However in south east Victoria "Gippsland" they are also having heaps of rain and bad flooding today. The worlds weather patterns have gone a bit crazy, must be global warming? Up in some parts of the high country "north east victoria" we had 20cm "8 inches" snow fall over the last 24hours, then again it is winter here.
  6. Hi AnGrA & Tunerz Thanks for replying to my post. It's probably not performance so much, I'm more interested in cutting down on startup programs, or processes that ain't necessary This thing uses (2,640k Physical Memory & 28,996k Virtual Memory)! I no it's not a lot, however it's not doing anything
  7. Hi Tunerz Yes it is a dial up modem, I also need to know if I have to physically remove it if I disable it?
  8. Hi guys I have and use an external ADSL Broadband modem, can I safely disable the internal modem through Device Manager, and will my PC benefit performance Wise? is it worth doing? Internal Modem: Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem. Location: PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 0,device 11,function 0)
  9. Thanks Anthony A and all others for the helpful replies Joining "Piriform Forums" is the smartest thing I have done, on the net
  10. Hi all My desktop with no icons' just the way I like it. I like to see my desktop, and have taskbar toolbars instead. This picture was taken just over my back fence. Sorry the picture was an attachment and has been removed to free up my attachment size allowance.
  11. Thanks TwistedMetal I'm a bit rusty with some computer skills "lack of use" spending to much time playing games' you know I pasted my screen-shot in paint, and then saved it as a JPEG file.
  12. Hi TwistedMetal How do I do that? Do I right click and use openwith? and then save as?
  13. Hi JDPower I tried doing that with a Bitmap file that was less than 1.95mb, a description of the file was inserted in my post, not the picture ?

Hi all Could someone please explain to me how to add a picture, image, or screen-shot to a post? I have tried unsuccessfully Looking ford to helpful replies
  15. Hi Harry07 Are you using Windows software or your camera's own software program? I've had some experience with "Kodak Easy Share" software and it can be a nightmare! especially if you try renaming folders and or files, and even moving them within my pictures, you can end up with extra copies. I have a Fuji camera at the moment and the software is easier to use than the standard "Windows Image Acquisition Transfer Wizard" thing. You should have an option to chose what program (your camera's?) you use for Image transfer from your camera to the default folder "My Pictures" and my guess is windows will always make some sort of file copy, MRU... also in CCleaner (Advanced) tab do you have (Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours) checked? this may make a difference. Another way to transfer pics from your camera to a PC After connecting the camera and turning it on, close any software apps that start' and browse to your camera's pictures storage folder on the camera. Windows basically see's a camera as a removable drive, select the folder or files and copy them to (by default) "My Pictures" folder, by doing it this way you should have more control over whats going on. Windows will probably keep some info in a temp folder that CCleaner should clean.
  16. Thanks Tunerz I thought it went like that.
  17. Hi hazelnut Thanks for the advice, I thought I must have done something wrong
  18. Hi rridgely Yep, I've put up with it long enough! the pop-up warnings are starting to drive me CRAZY ZA just got the flick, using Windows Firewall again. If I do get a router, does it go between my "broadband modem" and my "Ethernet-network adapter"? Or ADSL>>>router>>>broadband modem>>>Ethernet-network adapter?
  19. Hi GCNbball8 I took screen shots of the two tab's in "dxdiag" and pasted them in a wordpad doc. When I tried to upload them into this reply I couldn't "file to big" about 4.5mb Must be a way to do it?
  20. Thanks Humpty & rridgely I'm not using Windows Firewall anymore, got a real one "ZoneAlarm" Had some minor hiccups to start with, but after uninstalling and then reinstalling ZA works like a treat passed "Leak Test" no problem. I'll just un check the first three listing in "Local Area Connection" dialog box, I wont uninstall them, and leave "Internet Protocol-TCP/IP" checked. Thanks guys...Humpty&Rridgely, sounds like a TV drama series
  21. Hi fireyone Before trying your suggestion, I thought I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling ZA first, and now it seems to be working I even ran "Leak Test" and ZA was successful. Thanks for your reply to my post
  22. Hi rridgely UrbanTerror... been playing that for months now uses the Quake3 engine, a great game check it out. A fairly big download (2 parts) if you have Quake3 or not.
  23. Is it Ok to uncheck and or uninstall (Client for Microsoft Networks) & (File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks)? in the dialog box for "Local Area Connections" I recently read somewhere that these two components were not needed unless a computer was in a LAN setup, not! Internet. What about (Qo S Packet Scheduler) & (Internet Protocol-TCP/IP)" also in the same dialog box? All helpful replies welcome I have (File and Printer Sharing) blocked in Windows Firewall Exceptions list.
  24. Thanks for the reply GCNbball8 I have a Nvidia GeForce FX5200 card at the moment. I'm into games that tax the graphics displaying ability of my system to the max "Quake4 & Halo" etc. To keep frame rates reasonably high' I have to set some options fairly low. If I want to post details of my system, whats the best and easiest way?
