  1. Thanks for this link! I experienced hassles with NVU and since my varsity is not going to renew their Frontpage licence (only for single users will they do it and under special circumstances) this is a pleasant solution. Much appreciated.
  2. I know Ogg Vorbis does a better job than MP3, my problem is that I can only download the needed music in ogg format. F rom there I need a way to convert the ogg files to both mp3 and wav. So far db poweramp is catering my needs, but I do appreciate the alternative way you indicated Andavari.
  3. Thanks rridgely...I actually found version 11 a minute ago and should I purchase it it is much cheaper than the earlier link I provided.
  4. I'm looking for an audio converter primarily to convert .ogg to .mp3. Are there any decent freeware programs out there or must I go commercial? I have noticed this product, but needless to say you have to pay for it... Audio Wizard
  5. Wesnoth - The Battle for Wesnoth is a free, turn-based strategy game with a fantasy theme. Fight to regain the throne of Wesnoth, of which you are the legitimate heir, or use your dread power over the Undead to dominate the land of mortals, or lead your glorious Orcish tribe to victory against the humans who dared despoil your lands...

    Freeware!

These are the programs currently produced on The Open CD. A quote from the website... "TheOpenCD is a collection of high quality Free and Open Source Software. The programs run in Windows and cover the most common tasks such as word processing, presentations, e-mail, web browsing, web design, and image manipulation. We include only the highest quality programs, which have been carefully tested for stability and which we consider appropriate for a wide audience."
  7. Thanks for the all the links. At the end of the day I eventually chose AxCrypt. I simply needed it for one folder, so wasn't too keen on any trial versions. rridgely>> thanks for the old link. My apologies for actually not doing search.
  8. Hi all I need to password-protect some folders of mine. Can any recommend decent programs or is the best way to compress it and then use the password option?
  9. Microsoft is better. Is you can afford it why not. However given that it's quite costly I wouldn't say it's worth the money. I have used OpenOffice and it does have some useful features.

  11. I've downloaded it this morning and everythings running smoothly. Ran the virus guard and the firewall picked up on many things. Since I'm starting to add important information to my laptop soon the backup feature is pretty neat (because of the constant reminders). No problems or complaints...yet. PS I'm looking at this as a product and not a Microsoft product. Mike>> That link was spammed full of junk sad how people are so one minded...wish there was mod there to tidy it up.
  12. Actually I was being incredibly irrational. Thanks Glenn for making me more aware. The law here wouldn't go so far as terminating my employment, but what it would do is land me in hot water with the IT dept. Truth be told, I mustn't look a gift horse in the mouth. I have a decent unlimited connection to the net. Should I want the needed AVI or MP3 files, I can download them in my own time on my own connection. Please ignore my request for help.
  13. My work blocks anything to do with .mp3 or .avi etc. i.e. media formats. Is there any way of masking the format so that I can still download it? I suppose while I'm harping on about this, the work also has blocked a handful of sites (mostly .mp3 sites), so again is there anyway to overcome this? Thanks!
  14. I've been using FasterFox, but that's because it was available as an extension on the Mozilla site. Even though Firetune says it has over 1 million downloads, I think it was be useful to add it on the Mozilla site. Going back to the topic. I tried Avant and Mathon and was hardly impressed. Been using Opera for a while but now stick with FireFox because of the useful extensions.
