After more than a year of development and a huge amount of coding, we've completed our third product... Defraggler!

It differs from other defrag tools on the market, by enabling you to quickly and simply defrag the files you want to, without having to process the whole drive. Simply run it, select the file and defragment in seconds. No more struggling with the Windows defrag tool!

Additionally like all Piriform titles it's FREE!

Visit defraggler.com for more information, screenshots and to download.

After a "complete" disc defrag, will it also optimize -- or is this app just for defragging?

  2. Hi, my gf is having issues with her gfx/monitor. It keeps shutting of and then turning back on with horrible gfx buggs. Sometimes the comp locks up completely. Other times when the computer boots up the monitor wont turn on. (one time i had a screen filled with AAAAAAAAAAAAA ;) ) I tried reinstalling video card drivers but i think her video card is just goin bad. Its an old computer. Her video card is a geforce fx5200. I know for a fact she has up to date mobo drivers, up to date video card drivers, and all the cords are plugged in nice and tight. The video card is also locked in nice and tight. You think it could just be going bad? I posted in spyware hell and they said my hjt log was clean so its not spyware/vrius related. What do you guys think?

What are the "typical" symptoms of a bad video card -- or is there no such thing?

  3. I have received conflicting reports on the frequency with which I should use a registry cleaner - some say every day while others suggest every month or so. What does the conventional wisdom say?

Anyone have any experience with the cleaner RegistryFix?

  4. For those of you who use "a-Squared Free," how well does it perform for you -- especially compared with something like SUPERAnti-Spyware? I know that a-Squared scans for "traces," but I don't really know if that's an asset -- or a liability. Just out of curiosity, are there other programs that scan for "traces?"

  5. I agree with you mate, I've just updated RM's "white list" via Smart Update. Have no idea where it is. ;)

Tom at least knows he hasn't screwed up with those exclusions.

I agree. It appears that everybody's been right about everything they've said -- it simply comes down to a version issue. But one last time, I'd like to thank everyone for all the help they've offered on this subject. I sure didn't mean to start a "big battle. :D "

  6. To put that more simply, after a scan, if you recognise an item scheduled for deletion, you can right click on it and you get a menu. One of the menu items is "add to ignore list". Don't worry about, I've never used it.

The exclusions (ie Andavari's list) are the internal ignore list, as highlighted in red above.

Hey Dennis -- thanks for weighing in on this. Andavari and JDPower have both been so very kind in trying to help me with this that I started to feel like a real dumb-dumb. Just glad to know that it wasn't totally me -- at least this time

  7. I'm actually using the free giveaway version 5.0 from VNUNet that was offered last year. I even removed my exclusions that were installed and tried that downloadable SFX ZIP installer version and it worked because when I launched RM those exclusions were in there.

You using a licensed version 6.0 is probably why it didn't work if the developer changed some things. I had assumed you were also using that free giveaway version 5.0, guess not.

Sorry for the version confusion -- I should have mentioned it earlier. It doesn't make a lot of sense that there would be that much difference between them, but who knows. Thanks again for trying so hard to help.

  8. If this version doesn't work you're probably out of luck.[/color]

Registry Mechanic exclusion files (SFX ZIP version) download:

Thanks, again, Andavari!! You've gone way beyond the call of duty on this one. However, I hate to say it, but I guess I'm out of luck. I used the self-extracting file and it did exactly what I had done manually (per your iinstructions). The two files are in place all right, but still nothing shows up in the "Ignore Lists." JDPower has jumped in on this also and tried to help. I guess it worked for him perfectly. Not sure what my problem is, but let's just forget about the whole thing. You've spent way too much time on this. By the way, I'm using version 6.0 of RM. I assume you and JDPower are as well?

  9. If you go into Reg Mechanics options, in the general section does your version have an 'Open log folder' button, if so click that. Are those two files in the folder that opens?

I do have an "Open log folder" in the General section and when I open it, the two text files are in the folder, but still nothing displays in the actual "Ignore" section. By the way, I have two tabs in the Ignore section (Values and Keys) -- you probably have the same. I have checked both tabs -- nothing.

  10. It is for me

I have nothing in the Ignore List. Went back and looked at the Log folder, there are now four files in there:

    exKeys.txt

    exData.txt

    Register.log

    Scan.log

    Have I done something wrong?

  11. If you have nothing listed in the ignore section of Reg Mechanic (ie you haven't set any exceptions before this), just copy the two text files into the

'Log' folder. I've just done it that way without a problem.

I did that too, but after it's done, still nothing is listed in the Ignore Section. Is it supposed to be?

  12. Yeah however that exclusion list is very basic, and I don't know how useful it will be, although it does protect a few shell folders.

I just tried this, but I'm not sure I did it right. When you open Registry Mechanic, there's a Settings tab and an Ignore List tab. When you open the Ignore List, should these new items be displayed? -- mine aren't.

Maybe I didn't do it right. Am I supposed to copy the actual exKeys.txt and exData.txt files into the log file (as two complete units) -- or just the data/text itself that resides within each of those two files?

  13. They end up in the matching filenames of the .txt files included, for instance you copy what's in the downloaded exData.txt into: C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\logs\exData.txt

You only have to do the copy+paste if you already have exclusions listed in Registry Mechanic, doing so will keep them from being overwritted. However, if those exclusion .txt documents in the log folder are completely empty you could simply cut+paste the downloaded exclusion .txt files into the log folder and be done with it.

That's good news. There's nothing currently in the log folder, so I guess I can use the straightforward approach.

Thanks, again, for all your help with this. I'm a new Registry Mechanic user -- and maybe exclusions aren't even necessary. However, it just seemed like there might be some very basic things you might not want to tamper with. Not really being all the "registry knowledgeable" myself, I thought if someone had a good starting point, it would be very helpful. Thanks again.

  14. My instructions were a little goofy as it was late and I was tired, although what's below isn't much better either:

    * Open the exclusion file that has the path listed in #1 that's located in the "C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\log" first in one Notepad window.

    * Then open the downloaded exclusion file in a separate Notepad window and copy all the text in it. Then switch back to the one that's already installed in the "Registry Mechanic\log" folder and paste what you copied at the end of that already installed file. Then click save. Then move on to installing #2.

I could have made it a self-extracting zip archive but I opted not to because if someone already has exclusions that would only overwrite them which isn't good.

I haven't tried it yet, but this seems to be a little easier to follow. So, if I understand correctly, these exclusions that you wrote should ultimately end up in the Registry Mechanic "log" file -- right?

Here's where I show my ignorance -- oh well :D . . . why does all of this need to be done by way of Notepad rather than just copying the text directly into that folder?

  15. I don't really think Registry Mechanic needs any so-called community exclusion list like what I did with RegSeeker for the fact being Registry Mechanic is tame compared RegSeeker.

However, as I recall, you did have some exclusion items for EasyCleaner. Would Registry Mechanic not fall into somewhat the same category?

  16. Maximize the window like you normally would. You can use the maximize button on the top right of the window or right click the window on the Task Bar and select maximize.

I just went back to their website and it also appears that cntl + alt + 5 (the center pop-up key) gives you a full screen (although I haven't tried it yet.)
