How do you uninstall Java Quick Starter from Firefox? In my Addons dropdown tab, "uninstall" is grayed out.

Just wondering if there have been any additions to "Winapp2.ini" since 02/22/09? If there have, I can't seem to find them.

A little update on my ThreatFire experience . . . For several months I've been using Threatfire 4.1 with absolutely no problems or conflicts whatsoever. However, just yesterday, I realized there was a newer version (4.5), so I decided to upgrade. Nothing else on my system had changed, but it immediately started flagging all sorts of things (false positives) that the earlier version hadn't. The bottom line is that it quickly became a real pain in the neck and I ended up uninstalling it and re-installing 4.1. Of course, all of this could be totally unique to my computer, but in that I just recently posted some positive comments about this app, I thought I should share these latest developments.

Actually, I've also been using it (within BoostSpeed) and haven't experienced any problems either.

Noticed on FileHippo that Outpost Firewall Free had an update today. There is no change log, but from the version number, it appears to be a very small update. I just installed 6.5 on my daughter's computer -- sure wish I knew what changed in 6.51 and whether or not this update is needed.

So, about using DBAN . . . do you just download the progarm and put it on a CD -- then boot to that CD, or how does it actually work?

Like most resident apps, that's sometimes true -- but not all the time. IMO, it seems like very moderate consumption most of the time.

I might just mention that until about a month or two ago, they used to include standard virus definition updates. That's been done away with. There are still updates, but just for anti-rootkit definitions. So, if you decide to scan your system, you're just scanning for anti-rootkits -- nothing else.

Actually, I've been using it for several months -- no problems whatsoever. It's an incredibly simple program to use -- nothing to fiddle with. Simply download it and install it -- that's it. And, it runs concurrently with my AV (Antivir Premium) and doesn't conflict with it at all.

Anyone have any experience with DBAN?? I have an old computer I'm thinking about getting rid of. From what I've read, DBAN seems like it might be the right tool for getting it ready for disposal. I'm looking for any tips or pointers that might be helpful before using this software.

What happens if you don't exclude this key and it gets deleted?

Still on FF 2 here. Tried FF 3, but didn't like it at all -- seemed very cumbersome and slow. Went back to the most up-to-date version of 2 (2.0.0.20, I believe). Seems to be a much "tighter" program.

I've used both programs for several years and have never had the problem you mentioned -- and I have very few boxes unchecked. However, if you want to be extra safe, you could always backup your Robo data first. Open Roboform -> Options -> User Data -> Backup.

Check out the ratings -- should be a pretty easy decision . Plus, I don't think it's been updated in 4 or 5 years.
