I'm still using Returnil 2008 Tom, and I'm staying with it permanently, so I couldn't give any definitive advice on the 2011 version.
Dennis-- as indicated above, I have corrected my problem.
Actually, I was also using Returnil 2008 until just about a week ago when I got curious and wanted to try RVS 2011. This is not the version with AV and all that other stuff. This version pretty much focuses on virtualization. However, when I went to install it, it insisted that I first remove the 2008 version. And for obvious reasons, I could not do any of this in a virtualized mode, so that's how I got to where I am today.
Now, because I no longer have 2008 installed, I do have a question for you. With 2008, is the Service, "rvsmon.exe" constantly running on your computer? This is one thing that's been frustrating me more than anything else with the new version (in addition to the fact that there is no option to install it as "memory" virtualization). Anyway, "rvsmon.exe" runs constantly now and uses anywhere from 25MB-32MB of ram, even when I'm not using Returnil. And, it doesn't let you change this service setting from Automatic to Manual.
Anyway, when you get a chance, let me know if that service also runs constantly with 2008? I may just have to go back to that version. Thanks!!

Are you reporting that Z:\ partition remains after rebooting your pc? If so, try resetting the partition to 0% and reboot your pc.
That's exactly what's happening. I've rebooted multiple times and it's still there and my free space on C: has decreased by the same amount. Where do you reset the partition to 0%.

I desperately need some help. I won't go into all of the details as to what has happened (and I'm not positive I even know for sure). However, here's what it seems to be tied to... I "Stopped" a running Service yesterday because it was using too much memory (couldn't change it from Automatic to Manual). I knew what the Service was related to (Returnil RVS 2011), and didn't think it would be too much of a problem because I wasn't using that app all the time. However, after Stopping the Service, I noticed a few strange things going on, so I restarted it again.
As a result, it appears that somehow my C:\ partition was cloned and now I have a Z:\ partition, which looks like an exact duplicate of the C:\ partition.
What do I do?? How do I get rid of the Z:\ partition and get my system back to where it was? I'm using Windows XP SP3
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have about 260MB of Hotfix Uninstallers. Is there any good reason to keep them after 2-3 weeks of an update and everything seems to be running smoothly?

I've been familiar with Process Explorer for quite a long time. However, unless I'm mistaken, Process Explorer is a little different from the others in that PE simply provides information about running processes, whereas the other two help to monitor and automatically control "processes" and their allocation of resources.
Still not sure that this type of app has any real value, but was just curious.

Anyone have any experience (pro or con) with process managers such as today's GOTD, Process Lasso -- or Process Tamer? In general, do they accomplish anything or do they just take up more resources and get in the way?

I have ERUNT set to automatically backup my registry each day with every "first boot up" of the day. I have mine set to retain a total of seven registry backup sets. This process automatically rotates out the oldest backup and replaces it with the newest, so I always current backups for the last seven days. In addition, I periodically (but rather frequently) create manual System Restore points.

PDF X-Change Viewer also has some nice features, but several of them are only available in the "Pro" version. One thing I have noticed, however, is that it is rather slow opening pages of a multi-page document -- at least it seems that way with the portable version.

Thanks, Andavari. that's what I assumed, but thought I'd check just to be sure. I, too, created an Erunt registry backup -- and I created a System Restore Point before defragging.

I just ran Free Registry Defrag 3.0, which resulted in about 3% fragmentation. After defragging and optimizing, I ran CCleaner, which picked up approximate 50MBs to be deleted as a result of the defrag procedure. Apparently, "Free Registry Defrag" is in my winapp2.ini file.
Are these entries simply a registry backup and safe to delete?

I'm trying it out right now on an XP machine. So far, so good. It has some nice features -- particularly if you're a fairly heavy pdf user. On occasion, I've encountered a few problems in properly rendering layered pdfs, but I think Nitro is aware of this and plans to address/add the "missing component(s)" in a future release. Truth is that it's a little too soon for me to give it a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Just found this on Macrium's site. Apparently, ReDeploy is a relatively new plugin product which easily allows you to migrate your backup image to new hardware. It does so by creating a different type of WindowsPE Rescue disk, which includes additional info and drivers. The price seems reasonable, but it only works with a commercial version of Reflect.

One of my reasons for asking was that I just recently heard about Paragon's Adaptive Restore technology, which seems to address this very issue. However, after Dennis' experience with Paragon's imaging software a few years ago, I sort of lost confidence in their products. Sure wish Macrium could figure this one out and add it to their Reflect product.
