Multiple cell LiPo packs need special care! they must be balance charged after every 4 to 5 cycles> ( charge - discharge ) otherwise the cells become unbalanced! causing extreme heat build up and cell expansion while charging and then fire!

Physical damage to these batteries can cause an internal short and also fire!

Who on earth uses these things? In fact why on earth would anyone use them, even in an industrial environment?

Or do you guys with corks in your hats like to live dangerously?

(Couldn't resist that Craig, and I'm sure mta will be firing a salvo back.)

when you live in a country where every second native animal is capable of killing you, what's an exploding battery or two!!!

Well mostly people with an RC addiction  B)

They need what ever it is> race truck, drift car, plane... to perform for longer (just go fast!)

Plenty of videos on youtube

RC addicts don't just live here in OZ! It's world wide! Just like the use of Apple products "Oh yea, this topic is about Apple"

Yeah I'm an RC addict

Guys, if I see a small harmless house spider run across my floor you have to scrape me off the ceiling.

The stuff you lot live with on a day to day basis is mind boggling. I was following a series of videos some time back about a guy down your way who has a Dyson as his favourite spider catcher.

This video is hilarious at the end and the Huntsman looked like it had great fun in the Dyson merry-go-round.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C47I6brLvgg

How you can live with these things coming into your house, especially kiddies rooms as in that video, is beyond me. I would seriously never be able to sleep.

The last spider I saw was in my kitchen, sitting on an Apple.  :)

A few year's ago I was chatting on team speak with an American friend and he was checking out some site about Australian spiders...

Telling me  witch ones were dangerous and not dangerous...

He see's a pic of a Huntsman and say's wow that thing looks like a Tarantula but it say's that Huntsman's are harmless...

I said that's not right ! break down the name ! "Hunts - Man"

They DO bite ! but there not venomous... they luv apples!

Oh my, that vid has made my day - a spider flying around inside a cyclonic vacuum cleaner - priceless!

I really need to go buy a Dyson now.

And to think, I've just been flogging them with my thing - but a Dyson - oh the possibilities, spiders, geckos, cockies, blowies, what else...

(apologies Hazel for the topic hijack)

mta Do you mean foot wear "thong" or "G" type string of thong ?

Exactly what I thought and I now have an image of an Australian guy chasing after a spider with a thong!!

My minds eye can't make up it's mind as to whether he's wearing it or trying to catch the spider in it.

And after checking that video link above I realise I posted the wrong one. This is the video of the Huntsman in the kids bedroom and the "catch" doesn't quite go as planned ...

@ craig.

Huntsman spiders aren't venomous?

You live there with these things so I wouldn't contradict you, but that's not what I've understood from all the wildlife programs I've watched.

But I think some may have exaggerated how lethal it is ...

Still wouldn't like a bite from a big'un.

Especially the variety that are partial to an Apple. :D

Good job I haven't just Googled spider thongs.

Australia??

Isn't that a place over the other side of the world with a big harbour called after some bloke called Sid?

Anyway when I was a kid the spiders in our street were HUGE !   (we used to ride them to school)

I reckon in a pair of foot wear thongs & "G" type string thong chasing after a spider with a firm grip on his thingy > "Dyson Stick Vacuum"

"Huntsman spiders aren't venomous?" well just a bit.

But if it ain't gonna kill ya it ain't that bad  :D

Damn, it was the same link. How the hell did I do that?

Edited the correct link into that post.

Cheers craig.  :)

EDIT:  Here's the best video of Dyson man, and see what happens when he leaves his Dyson in the cupboard.

Don't watch that if you're of a nervous disposition!!   Seriously.

On the news the other day which I heard playing in the background in the other room they mentioned Australian Funnel Web Spiders may help stroke victims. Didn't catch all of the story however it's likely something to do with their venom. It's interesting how something so deadly could in the future save lives.

That spider was absolutely huge. The first time I saw that vid, I thought it was a joke.

By the way I kept pasting the wrong link again in post #18. Got the right one now.

I blame YouTube. It's been around so long I think it has senior moments.

Australian attractions

Well if anyone is planing a holiday here in my country :)  here are some suggestions "click the link below"

http://www.australia.com/en/places.html

Some stats >

Heap's of space here > Australia is 7,682,300 sq. km; England is 244,820 sq. km; so, Australia is approximately 31 times bigger than England.

Australia's Size Compared. Australia is the planet's sixth largest country after Russia, Canada, China, the USA, and Brazil. At 7 692 024 km2, it accounts for just five percent of the world's land area of 149 450 000 km2, and although it is the smallest continental land mass, it is the world's largest island !  :D

BTW

Beware of drop-bears, gundiewolups, and buryakas!  :o

OK theres no such thing as a drop-bear! drop bear (sometimes dropbear) is a hoax in contemporary Australian folklore featuring a predatorycarnivorous version of the koala

However! BEWARE! of  Gundiewolups & Buryakas!
